Ever heard of a VapeMate? $59 bucks....look it up. Ha. I have one if you know of anyone who needs one. :)

I almost bought one of those. I've been trying every way in the world to get friends of mine to quit smoking and thought it might be a useful alternative to tanks. I'm guessing by the way you said that it's not? lol. Tanks work great for some people I know, others had the same experience I did which was a total waste of time almost to the point of going back to smoking for me. Thankfully I found dripping which led to looking at bottom feeders and the purchase of my first Reo. But I have one friend who just can't keep a tank functioning long enough to actually give quitting a chance. He's the one I'm shopping for another Reo for.

Ekowool is a type of silica, braided though. Mine gets dark with some juices, mostly tobaccos. And tobaccos are what I mainly vape. I'll rinse them and dry burn every couple days.

I wanna try it should i get 1mm, 2mm, or 3mm? then do you just wrap around the wick? Thanks for the help. The cotton just wasn't doing it fo me. I just got sweet taste.

ok - i'll kick it all off! But that will short your mod - it's steel yadda yadda!

The idea is to use decent juice to begin with, not the ashtray extractions Xobe uses - that is not a criticism btw, but it has always struck me as odd that people that insist on chemically pure USP standards then rip cigars to pieces!

I am no better - i am always messing with coils - different wicks and anything else i fancy.

FYI ekowool is like a cheaper xc-116 which is a great ceramic braid - it is hollow in the middle so you whack a pin in it and wrap a coil on it. I have had great results with it, including wicks that last over 2 weeks. It is expensive at about a $ an inch.

and porous ceramic wick is disgusting in an RM2, one long dry hit!

For micro coils get the 1mm. Wrap a coil around 1/16" then thread the Ekowool through. Torch it a bit first to make it stiff. That's what my Reos normally use. Sometimes I wrap a .055" ID coil & can still get the 1mm through but it's a little trickier. Anything larger & you have to wrap around the wick (or find the suitable size the wrap the coil on first).

2mm is good for sleeving over SS mesh wicks gennies & 3mm is good for using as a wick by itself for gennies. That's the only time I use larger 1mm which is very rare. I've made coils wrapping around 2mm but the micros perform so much better for me.

I did a sideXside with ekowool and nextel (and then cotton)

Cotton is best for BF (it holds enough juice and tastes best)
Nextel is very good; wicks very fast but won't hold enough juice for an SLR micro (probably fine @/above .8Ω)
ekowool, can't wick fast enough, won't hold onto enough, and is kinda lame

So, you're an outlier! Better yet, a bohemian considering the art you turn out of a machine shop. :thumb:

Why that's a nice way of saying it! Yep that's me I guess & how I started off first with Reos. I tend to do everything backwards or the wrong way. :)

I wish I had a machine shop, I'm just some dude who pretends with glorified power tools in my garage. ;)

KAY. . . . . . . . SOOOOOOOO . . ..

finally got around to getting some rolled cotton for doing a comparison to cotton balls. (both sterile, wound care, etc. etc.)

AND . . . . I have an opinion .. . . .

which is as follows.

The rolled cotton is distinctly mellower. Right from the first toot off a fresh wick, no cotton flavor. Instantly noticed a smoother, mellower vape.

That said, for those of us fighting the "not enough flavour" monster, or the hobgoblin of muted flavors . . . . if you're using rolled cotton, you might wanna try the sterile cotton balls. You'll taste a bit more cotton on the first few toots; but (IMO) you'll get more high notes and the sharper end of the flavor spectrum.

Will post if things change with time.

BTW: this is Rite Aid, and the box doesn't say "super .....in wickin"; but I know the guy who started all that, an' he said he was just being silly.
