Ah yes.. Well that is soon going to be my ohm meter for my Reo. For now though it's my humble provari

I really love my provari actually I'm just ready to try something different. The provari will always be in my heart just maybe not always in my pocket.

Here's an update on my wick.

Smaller...shorter wick... doesnt seem to muffin top out of the coil..
however, the left most coil of the microcoil seems to came a part just a lil bit from the rest.. is that ok?

Edit: getting some funky smel/taste of this. Like old socks? And the cotton where the loose coil is at is burnt compared to the rest. Sigh, gotta recoil

Hmm, the socks effect may be an additive in the cotton. Those generally wear out after about 10-20 minutes of vaping. Otherwise the wick looks perfect.

Ive figured out what that weird taste was.
I recoiled another wick using silica..and still had the same taste if i go for a long drag.
Its the khantal heating up. Basically, it was the smell/taste of hot khantal.

I guess 28awg khantals get hot quickly due to their low ohms... will try again with a high awg khantal...30 or 32.

If you torched the wire before making the coil the metallic flavor goes away after a few hits. If not, i don't know how long it will take. If it persists, it is likely to be a side effect of having too thin wick in there too.

So I read this thread and had to break out the old A7. Used cotton wick and 32g nichrome (2.2 ohm). This is like a whole new atty! Thanks for all the good info.

Cotton is my fav. It's all I use. But Bakry, to me it looks like you've got a bit too much cotton for that wick. It's very thick and that leaves little room for sucking up liquid and expansion. That may be why it scorched. Try using less so when you thread the coil it slips through very easily, such that you could pull on either end of the wick and it would slide back and forth through the coil effortlessly. Then get it wet with juice, let it soak about 15 minutes, and you should be good to go.

That's probably still too much... once you add liquid, that's going to mushroom up. I fill about half that coil (leave it loose before you fire it), add liquid and give the cotton time to expand. It will expand into the coil. If the cotton completely fills the coil dry, it will choke it when it's wet.

Here is a 11-12 micro (32g Kanthal) on a Octopus Mini RDA (Squid), cotton wicking from CVS. Weighs in @ 4.0Ω, perfect 10watts when on a Provari @ 6v

First attempt. Cotton wick, 28gauge kanthal 8-9 wraps I think lol 1.2ohm using a 1/16 drill bit on a mini phoenix v4 clone with a 3/32 air hole 40/60 ejuice. A lot of flavor and I get almost the same vapor production with my previous setup of .8ohm. I'm going to do another one and see if I can get the coils a tad closer. It's definitely fun! I need one of them csi magnifying lens things to actually see

Thanks Commie! yeah I have never coiled more than 4. Pretty much got started building wicks when I was using my nova tank which is now collecting dust, having great folks like you guys here at ecf helped a ton!

29 gauge kanthal around my needle, 7 wraps 1.2 ohm. AIV white rabbit never taste so good.

I believe that the RM2 is that atomizer . The post spacing is ideal for it

The obvious next step in your progression would be to get a REO and an RM2 as the platform to take your vaping game to the next level. Fresh juice applied directly to the coil at will just by squeezing the onboard bottle should be on every vapers bucket list.

gave it a whirl with flatkanthal and bamboo thread, 1.0ohms with like 6 wraps i think
