I hate when that happens!
...First one fell out while sniping the ends...
Okay, okay..... I swore I'd never use cotton but this morning I made my first micro coil and used q-tip cotton for wick. For RM2. Amazingly easy, coil and threading wick!!!!! (I've rejected natural wicks as my juices gunk up coils really fast requiring every day or two dry burn but threading cotton was so fast!!!!!)
Used 30 Kanthal, my favorite. Don't ask how many wraps.... I did it at 0500 while having first coffee.Used smallest jeweler's screwdriver I have. Metered about 1.6
I may soon be a cotton convert.
Thanks X and all advocates of micro coil and cotton wicks (JCOkie especially)

Welcome to the COTTON CLUB !![]()
Thanks. I've done cotton threads, yarn, kitchen twine (all boiled first) and boiled bamboo yarn. Way too much hassle threading every day or so. Don't even need tools or jeweler's lenses for rolled cotton wick. Scissors not absolutely necessary if you have to rewick away from tools/kit.
I'm just going to use q-tip cotton until I set up a permanent RBA work space with good storage. Then I'll get an organic cotton roll.
TrippyBert gave me some wonderful juice from 301vapers this weekend. I didn't have to dryburn for 3 days using it. Bummer they are out of it right now.

So I made my second micro coil, its about 7 wraps or so 26g kanthal. Came out in the area of .7 ohms. I like it even though it's a little lower then I intended. Virtually no lag time just vapor. Now the only thing im not seeming to like is the cotton wick. Im using sterile cotton balls as it was all I had for cotton. I have 3mm silica wick which worked nice for regular coils, although its a bit stiff and brittle. And way to big for my coil. I used the 1/16 drill bit as many others have then I pulled a chunk of cotton of the ball and slowly pulled pieces off till it was just about the thickness of the bit, maybe a bit smaller, rolled it tight to slide it in and let it loosen it self. It seems to have expanded to the inside edge of the coil after I add juice. And its nice and soaked. So I guess my question(s) is/are: is my wick to big? Should I try finding smaller silica to see if that tastes better? Ive seen somewhere about ekowool which a nearby shop is supposed to get today but I heard the 1.5 is to small. Any workaround? And heres some pics of my coil.View attachment 225275View attachment 225276
What is it about the cotton that you don't like? The taste? The wicking ability? That would help to know. Is that an ERA? The juice comes out a hole on one of the posts? Nice looking coil....maybe by it being such low ohms and using 26 gauge kanthal (heats up REALLY fast) the wick can't quite keep up. Do you have to squonk too often? I never use a tail that long, but that's just me.

So more cotton. Fairly easy to try and I shall. Don't quite feel like making a new coil right now, maybe tonight tho. From your pics and description, I'm thinking not enough cotton....
Agree with Pdib. A .7 ohm micro is the equivalent of approximately a .1? ohm OS (old school) coil...... Kinda like putting a second engine in a Bugatti Veyron, when one was WAY more than enough, the other would just overkill what's already overkill.
I would shoot for a minimum of 10 wraps on a 1/16" bore coil for maximum performance, more if a VV device is available.
Well Im using a k100 with an igo l. By no means a bugatti(in the means of pv's) im thinking my first coil was a little lose leading to its higher resistance. Maybe my 3rd coil will come out where I want it. Getting slightly better build by build. Maybe one day I will find the perfect vape.
I wouldnt equate a coil a bugatti, maybe the tires. 2 ohms micro coil. Did your non micro coils measure that high? I didnt really like the 1.7 ohms coil I first built, wasnt hitting that great to me.Oh, I wasn't talking about the mod, I'm talking about a proper micro of around 2 ohms![]()
