Ok, I wrapped another coil @ 2.1 Ohms (lost count of wraps) & the flavor is some better but still not stellar. I'll give this set-up a bit to break in but I think a 1 ohm coil around 2 strands of xc116 has spoiled me.

I hear coil speed building is now Officially an Olympic sport at the 2016 event.

Holy crap, soon they will have to make larger dia RBAs for Reos to accomodate all your guys' micro train coils! :)

I have a cheap rba that I setup with 5 holes inline, maybe a line of multiple smaller holes might work good for long coils like that.

Horizontally or vertically and what size were they dark zero .

It was a cheap adjustable air flow atty that had 3 holes that were like #64 size, I forget. I drilled them out to #60 & added two more holes for a total of 5. They are horizontal & couldn't go much bigger due to it's design.

Basically I was just curious about those huge massive clouds you see in videos. I didn't want to sacrafice one of my other RBAs by drilling large 3/32 or 1/8 holes so I figured this adjustable air flow RBA might give me a similar experience. In the end it did put out incredibly dense clouds & I had to use 6mg nic cause I thought I was going to die with 18mg. Not as huge clouds like those show boaters but it was enough to fullfill my curiosity. Didn't spend too much time building it so if for some reason I get bored I'll try again. It was cool but not something I would enjoy vaping on a regular basis.

Cool,
It appears that curiosity is moving vaping forwards at a dramatic pace.

Looks really nice! Is it not too hot at 1.4? I found that microcoils feel like much lower resistance normal coils, so I'd imagine this may feel like a sub-ohm coil?

Mine looks similar, but is 2.2 ohm, and I still end up having to take shorter drags to prevent choking and drowning the room in vapor :)

I made one 1.3 yesterday and it is just too hot for my sweet juice. Just about all of the almond goes missing in my butterscotch almond juice (almond so strong I cut it some with FSUSA Applewood). For sure all the butterscotch. Pre RM2 and some other RBAs 1.3-1.5 was fine. Prebuilts 1.5-1.7 fine. These are all at 3.7v. Cartos normally 1.5-1.7 too..... same juice.

I'm making some tonight for short notice trip out of town for a few days. Gonna do all about 1.7 and wick with cotton, my new love.

Ya'll are surely posting pics of fine looking coils.:)

My friend just got his Grand & RM2 and ask me how long should the coil would last and I couldn't answer cause I don't know.
I think the one I changed out last night was about 3 weeks old and it was still working just fine.

It really depends on the juice he uses and the wire thickness used in the coil. The thicker the wire, the longer it will last, mainly because it can be dry-burned to clean more times.

The juice... I have two coils, close to identical. One is running clear juice, and the other one is for dark juice full of particles. The one with dark juice lasts about a week. The one with clear juice has no visible signs of wear after the same week.

Mine last about a week - the nextel wick was easily double that. I run plain juice sometimes and flavours too in that week - but nothing like treacle flavour! That kills anything dead in about 3 days!

I have noticed that they are all oddly temperamental - the coil i have used on my Reo all week is now performing like a champion and i have done nothing to it. The pessimist in me tells me to make a new one now while the going is good, the optimist reckons it might last for days more!

HRH runs very dark tobacco flavours and coffee but even she gets a coil to last about a week minimum and that's a good thing, since i only make them at weekends.

edit: i use 32g kanthal and usually 3mm silica because i have boatloads of both.

Well, I had to change coils. . . . . in order to have a place to put this. Not a true micro, on account of the gap in the middle. But I am still trying to see what our little friend cotton can do for us all vape-hounds. (Also, still trying to get a rise out of ol' Supe, with the SLR and all.) Anyway, the cotton is holding up just great with this little jobber. This is 26g Nichrome (=25 Kanthal) @ 0.5Ω. I think my little non-traditional center tuft is overkill. The vape is VERY sweet. Kinda reminds me of that clown on the Simpsons. (I think) . . . . . (not the sweet part, the tuft part)

Next time I'll just try a straight micro @ .5Ω. I was being forgiving with the cotton; but, apparently, no need.

ADDIT: and YES, I see that little gap in the coil. So shoot me :p

That's hilarious. I made the EXACT same coil few days ago - it's still in the RM2 on my VV grand :)

It's 30 ga though. It would really shine even more on a chalice cause the juice / drain orifice is centered between the posts.

GMTA :)

Cool, man! But, let me ask you this . . .. . do GM TA enough for your GM to T "Krusty"? Probably not, because (and I'll tell you why), because ol' Krusty there doesn't come in un-flavored! (or, should I say, un-flavored doesn't come in Krusty . . . I know, I know, "real men", "liking the box")

A lot to sift through there. . . . . . deep. . . . . . . . . .

Redid the coil on my rm2 and my igo-l today. I skipped the step of pre-burning the wire on the gas stove and it seems that the flavor improved quite a bit. I still burned the coils red hot and squeezed together with tweezers before putting in the wick. How could conditioning the wire with some red hot burns effect the taste? You would think that the taste could only improve. Maybe the burn leaves residue. Next I'm gonna try a preburn with a good wiping down of the wire.
