Ok, I wrapped another coil @ 2.1 Ohms (lost count of wraps) & the flavor is some better but still not stellar. I'll give this set-up a bit to break in but I think a 1 ohm coil around 2 strands of xc116 has spoiled me.

Try more cotton on that wick. I use much longer legs and find flavor is through the roof, it and TH are almost too much. Vapor isn't where I want it to be though. I suspect its from being semi flooded and I just need to find the right length for the legs. The vape is almost like the airhole isn't big enough or lined up correctly, very juicy and wants to expand in the lungs. Yours seems to be doing the opposite and we need to meet in the middle.

Well, I had to change coils. . . . . in order to have a place to put this. Not a true micro, on account of the gap in the middle. But I am still trying to see what our little friend cotton can do for us all vape-hounds. (Also, still trying to get a rise out of ol' Supe, with the SLR and all.) Anyway, the cotton is holding up just great with this little jobber. This is 26g Nichrome (=25 Kanthal) @ 0.5Ω. I think my little non-traditional center tuft is overkill. The vape is VERY sweet. Kinda reminds me of that clown on the Simpsons. (I think) . . . . . (not the sweet part, the tuft part)

Next time I'll just try a straight micro @ .5Ω. I was being forgiving with the cotton; but, apparently, no need.

ADDIT: and YES, I see that little gap in the coil. So shoot me :p

Cool looking coil there, my atty delivers juice through a hole in the positive post, that center tuft would hit it about right. Are you vaping Klorine?

Coil porn??
I have mastered and grown board with dual coil (sorry for the blasphemic reference in this thread) genesis setups. This AM I saw a micro coil thread and a search led me here.
So I am subscribing and going to read thru this thread.
Truly some beautiful coil work here and I want to play
:)

without having read thru yet, have you considered using cheesecloth? It can be unthreaded then sewn w a needle. I use that method on mesh wicks sometimes. Search for "Quigsticks" if not familiar. The same principle will work for inserting cotton strands in this application.

Bro, as good as rolled cotton works, I am absolutely content with it. But thanks for the info. :)

Speaking of coming to play, if you don't have a REO and bottom fed RBA, you are missing out on the true benefits of micro coiling - micros really dig fresh squozen juice on demand :).

Yea thats why I'm trying it in drippers. Plus it's just a new coil venture to play with.

I've owned a few REOs before there were BF RBAs. I'll have to pick up another with all these new attys for them.

I've had the Reo for 5 days using a micro out of 28 Awg, 20 wraps, 1.3 ohms. After rewicking with cotton 6-7 times today before 2pm and finishing my day with 1-2 tokes per squonk, I pulled a couple of strands of silica through the coil. Now it's working much better for me.

Bro, I think that coil looks great, but is more of a nano coil. How bout trying wrapping some 30 ga around a 1/16" (1.6mm / 16 ga) mold with about 10 wraps, pull some cotton thru and check that.

There is a point when micros get too micro and become nanos - I think you reached it :)

I just did a quick dual microcoil. Used the needle nose from one of my bottles like super X does. It wraps easily. I didn't try to coil them tight to each other. I just needed to get this done quick so I can try out this new IGO-W I just picked up. It has stock holes so I wonder how that will vape.

So I used 32g wire, and had 11 wraps on one, and 12 on the other apparently. It heats evenly from the middle out. The wick is sterile rolled cotton and what you don't see is a bedding of cotton that will go underneath the coils to hold excess juice. It is reading 2.3 ohms on my eVic. The reason I have been looking into microcoiling is for my wife who wants to drip with an atomizer, but doesn't have a mech (yet).

Nice work stik. Bro, I see his and hers, fully mech bottom dripping squeeze boxes in your future. Save yourself a bunch of headache, mess, leaks and just plain looking like Tom and get a yourselves some REOs. :) then you won't have to list that mech (that you never buy) in the classies for a loss :)

I'll have to look into it.. I NEVER want to purchase the end all of products.. That would just mean that I have less or nothing else to look forward to... I will look into it... I was never a fan of the box shape...

In all seriousness, my good man, vaping on a REO (preferably w/ RM2) could very well put you in that situation. The degree of satisfaction and completion is . . . . . . well, frustrating to those of us who like to be frustrated, and problem solve.

Then again, is it really worth it to put up with a semi-solid vape? Perhaps REO-joy, and a different hobby?

Just found this thread and want to ask a dumb question. Do these micro coil/wicks only perform on REOs or can I use them on a mechanical on a VV/WW?

Like I tell my techs, the only dumb question is the question that was never asked. Yes you can use them on anything that's rebuildable, just build to the resistance required.

I have an old Bully dripping RBA that has been sitting around. Thing is tiny to work with and I'm getting pretty blind, so it's kind of a pain in the ... to build.
