How does high resistance micros preform? I was think maybe 12 or so wraps of 28ga
I like high res 2 ish with 30 ga. With 27 ga I go around 1.2 and I like it because it is the same as 2 ish ohm 30 ga micro if you fire and hit right away. If you fire for 3 seconds first it hits like a sub ohm micro :)

2 completely different personality vapes in one build :)

CAO MX2 cigar - 30/70 vg/pg true tobacco extract after ~1 week of daily mash and stir sessions. Will be ready in another week. Adds an incredible dark brazilian bitter-sweetness to any juice you add it to (i add 1ml per 10ml)

Pm if you want some. This batch should yield around 60-70ml of extract.

You mentioned using 306s and getting good flavor. I believe the lowest ohm 306 is 1.5 ohm. You are building .9 ohm coils. I would imagine this would greatly change the flavor. Have your tried building a 1.5 ohm coil and see if that works for you? You are hitting the coil with about 75% more wattage now than with the 306. I hope this helps.

As my resistance lowers below 1.7 the flavor of all of my juices decrease. At < 1.3 all flavor of MY juices is basically gone. 1.5 ohm was my preferred resistance for warmth with factory attys, any, but my juices suffered lowered flavor. 1.7 is a good compromise. I stopped doing heavy flavors and tobacco late 2010. Prior to that the "heavier" flavors did well 1.5 and below. (I would get an ocassional atty below 1.5. One came in at 1.1. At the time I was boiling and dryburning and keeping attys in rotation for months so I got to use those lower ohm attys for a long time. The attys predating fall 2011 seemed to be better made as most, with two vapers lasted for months in rotation. After that it was hit or miss with same treatment.

I had some Joye 510s, from 2010 purchases, that were in rotation for a year. We did rotate about 20 attys but our juices gunk them so fast they needed cleaning after a few days.

i'm not sure what carto's Puresmoker rebrands, but I've been using their "bud" 1.7 carto's for a LOOOOOONG time. I have been using the same 2-3 in rotation since may

I say this because a couple of the juices that I LOVE (bandersnatch, zombie apoc, and monkey jungle) just don't like my rebuildables.

I'm loving it now that I've gotten down the carto-squonk (thanks to some love from fellow reomauts)

I wanted to add an observation to the Rene wire. This is the same wick I put in last night.

The juice I am using is a DIY peach koolada (not clear, but not dirty)

On a nichrome coil, my wick would turn a filthy dark color after a whilewith this juice.

This is the wick i started with

More than 24hr later, it is still partially white.

Where can I get more info on extracting from tobacco? Sounds interesting since I'm a diy'er.

I've tried some extracting from fresh ground coffee with mixed results.

I bought some 100ml mason style jars at the local craft store. I fill the jar with the cigar of my choice lightly broken into roughly 1/4-1/2" flakes. add in pg/vg to meet the ratio you want until the liquid covers the tobacco. Lightly stir with something to get rid of any air pockets. Place a bowl in the microwave w/ approx 1.5" of water in it and heat until boiling. Set jar w/ tobacco into the bowl w/ water to heat through the glass (this is done w/ the jar capped).

I repeat the heat process nightly for about 3 days, open the jar and mash with a fork for a bit. I repeat this process for roughly 2 weeks, then I place a cotton ball into a 60ml syringe w/ a 14ga blunt attached. scoop the mash into the syringe and compress until it's juiceless. the puck of tobacco will come out easily. (you may need to do this a few times dependant on how much "mash" you make.

Once you've done the initial strain, you can use it as-is (like I do) or filter further w/ a coffee filter or something else.

I have surgical filter needles to do a super-filtration on it for people who do not want any tobacco residue in their juice.

Nothing scientific... Just a mash & stir then filter thing.

Is it bad for you? /shrug... nowhere near as bad as smoking. Does it have nitrosamines in it? probably in minute amounts. I'd guess that it has a nitrosamine level akin to a steam-cured snus.

Less carbon oxidation? or cleaner? I dunno. I was trying to read up on Kanthal, Nichrome & Rene... I got way too confused so I stopped.

This is my guess at it..

It's a venture into the unknown with no assurance it is more or less of a risk than using Kanthal or Nichrome.. I'm wondering if this stuff actually heats cleaner than either of those..

Judging by the durability it would make sense the material(s) that actually break down over time (K & N) would be more likely, of the lot, to release some amount of something that one would prefer not to inhale.

I mean, if it lasts for years and years and years in industrial environments then it's got to maintain good composure under the mild demands of an adventurous vaper.
