I just couldn't resist on that last post. ;)

But seriously, I'm at the point where 28 Kanthal doesn't seem thick enough & 26 is too thick for my "normal" coils. Was thinking about 27 but I never tried NC yet other than some prewound coils I got with an A7 I bought when I started. Just wondering if anyone can tell a difference between 60 & 80. If not I'll just close my eyes & choose one.

For me, one type of NiChrome has a distinct flavor that I hate. Unfortunately I don't know if it's the one with iron or the other. The type that was sold alongside the first Kayfuns from Swoemesto was good, the stuff that I got in a vapemeet later was awful.

The taste from the "wrong" NiCr is savoury, I think it is the reason behind pbusardo's "turkey bacon" flavor in Boge cartos, the description fits.

OK, Supe, found it. The bottom end, that is. Built a coil where the cotton can't keep up. Well it does fine for about 4 seconds; but I like a longer pull. So, here's where I found my "Road Closed" sign on this little highway of me and cotton and micro-coils. Mind you, not a problem! I'm very happy with my regular setup; but I was curious about certain allegations re: the REO not being able to deliver enough zip to your zap. The REO, btw, does it's job just fine. It can deliver more voltage than is necessary or sane.

26g Nichrome, 0.4Ω

It might not be the cotton not keeping up. It could be the bottom drain hole in the atty. Not enough juice on deck to feed that coil. Try to over squonk and tip the atty so it sucks air before getting all the juice.

X, I don't have any NC26 but I do have Kanthal 26. If ya want to try some I'll send you some to play with. It's pretty thick but still workable. I made a 1 ohm micro with 26 & it's working much better than I thought. The .7 ohm coil I have in the adjustable air flow atty is making crazy clouds. Im tempted to try lower but I'm good for now.

Didn't think I would ever get 26 but science told me to, not really, it was pdib'z fault. Dude keeps going to that next cliff & I start to wonder too.

Zero, too kind brother, no worries, I'm good. Thank you though. If curiosity continues to gnaw, I'll get a roll and if I don't like it I'll hook up another brother with it :)

Thanks

thanks, unloaded, and yes. I mentioned in another post that I know I could work around it; but that isn't my goal. I was just curious. I love me my high res. (.5Ω) vapes. Don't need to be doing this crazy kid stuff. :D

Statistics spec was interesting.

My 28swg needing 5 wraps to achieve 0.76 ohms
Statistics 26swg needing 11 wraps to achieve 0.75 ohms

My slightly smaller bore is probably balanced by longer tails.

Excellent thread idea nerak for quick referencing.

Thanks! I realize the length of the wire will figure in also. But it should be pretty close for those just starting out. I drove myself crazy looking for the information when I started. All the different wire gauges and the coil wraps, then the size! Picked up bits and pieces from different threads.

When I posted that I hoped I was remembering the resistance correctly.. just remeasured.. it's closer to .7 on the dot

What's the id of your 28g 5 wrap?

edit- 1.5mm I see. Yeah interesting indeed. Very cool thread, nerak. Great idea collecting that info from everyone in one place. Very... (wait for it..)... scientific! :p

Special thanks to darkzero for the pics of the ERA clone coil positioning, this is way better than being scrunched off to one side.

Excellent video vapdivrr.

I still haven't got used to the idea of using a box mod but the convenience of squonking is becoming more and more appealing as I only use drippers.

I thought the same thing brother, I just always loved my shiny ss tube mods, but once you do get used to a box, it really is great.
