Once my cotton is through far enough, I grab both ends (sticking out of either side) and twist it (opposite directions). If its not too fat, you can compress it enough this way to slide it over and back in the coil. That's the right amount. So, slide it until you like the thickness protruding from both sides, then snip.

IMO that looks like it might be a bit too much cotton. But I like my wick to be just under the diameter of the coil when it is dry. Then after I wet it, it expands just barely to size of the coil diameter. My first couple micro coils I made had a ton of cotton in them. They were alright but once I started using less cotton, it really helped. The downside to this, I have to squonk nearly ever other drag. If you are just dripping, I would recommend using longer tails to help allow the wick to hold more juice so you aren't having to drip all the time. I do that with my igo-l and it is pretty nice. I get 15-20 drags before I have to drip again. Or you could just get a REO and come to the dark side.

Here, I managed to get a pic before wetting this one. It is as full as I like to get. (meaning; a little less might be better, but I'm good with this one) Bear in mind, that's a high velocity (wink) coil. So I need to get as much wick in there as I can.

Actually, looking at it. Its probably too much. Still vapes and tastes good tho.

That's what I'm doing ;) I'm waiting for the Reo I bought from the classifieds to arrive (hopefully tomorrow BEFORE I leave to go camping). I've been trying to work on building a better coil.

My problem, rather one of them anyway, is that the only rda's I have to work with atm are 3 post ones for the dual coil setups so I'm having a hard time getting the coil in the center.

That is a mighty fine looking coil and wick assembly there pdib. That heavy gauge wire looks like a perfect fit for the toaster slot coil. The eccentricity of the heat masses is intriguing. Experimenting with the 27 will be fun :)

You want your coil directly in front of the air hole, where ever that may be. If needed, leave long legs on the coil, but you want to see the coil through the air hole (if it's a side air hole).

I want a picture of that view! That hole is so tiny I can't even see inside the RM2!

But I do understand the concept! Looking down inside I can see where it needs to be!

I will make a picture when I recoil one of mine. I usually burn my coils before wicking them and if you put the cap on before burning, you will actually see the red glow through the air hole =)

I hold the RM up and look inside at an angle under a florescent light, I can see the light coming through the air hole and if it's pointing at the center of the coil.
My friend makes fun of me for trying to get it perfect, I'll keep removing the top cap and adjusting the the coil until it's perfectly squared and centered with the air hole.
Yes, I'm like that

Naw it wasnt hard to get them balanced at all. Honestly they didnt need much tweaking after i installed them. They both fired evenly from the center outwards :D.

I havent actually looked at a REO yet lol. I was attracted to the thread because of the micro coil builds :p

The RDA I used is heavily modded for quad coils, so it has two massive air holes, maybe around 3mm on each side. Very airy draw. Probably too airy, but airflow is key for cloud chasing heh. Beyond that, the coils do not actually touch the silica underneath, but the ekowool wick does and the cotton core sucks up juice. There is about a 1mm space between the bottom of the coil and the silica so the airflow is fine :D. Honestly this is the first time I've tried the extra silica. Still going to play around with it ^^. The idea is based on a member posting that he prefered to just stuff some cotton under his micro coil instead of threading it through.

Oh lol I just realized that I didnt mention that the wick was ekowool with a cotton core, and the base of the juice well has a length of silica wick wrapped around it a few times to keep the cotton nice and moist. I feel it also really helps with taste. Its like a flavor blast! Almost too much lol. I realy need to try this kind of setup with unicorn blood or something.
