Nah. My cyclone is permanent fixture on my booger. I'm not going to mangle a reo to fit the AFC. It just doesn't look right on top of the reo.
I did something sacrilegious, I kept trying to do another micro because I thought I could make a better one and I kept messing up, it was metering out too high etc. So i got frustrated and did a 4 wrap on 32 kanthal on silica and got 1.6 ohms. It works good. I'll try another micro Monday at work.
You have to scrape off the inside of the reo so the ground can make contact.
Would I need a 14500 battery for the Grand then to use the kick?

Yup, me too. It kind of looks like a short waiting to happen, although it didn't seem to be scraped.
Agreed the spring does look scrunched but the kick has short protection like a fuse, akaik
Back when the kick first came out people talked about sanding the inside of the reo for the ground. I don't know if that's what people still do.
I think they use a piece of copper tape.
