Goes to show, your meter is seriously F-ed up.
(7 wrap is .6 and a 9 wrap is .7 . . . ?)

Yeah, I noticed on the coil spreading; any tension on the legs in travel to the set screw/contact will pull open the coil upon heating. I've been aligning everything (shaping legs for exact approach and such). I might try putting reverse tension on them, to pull the coil together upon heating.

But tonight, I'm trying this little 0.4Ω hummer.

Enjoying it quite a bit.

By the time I had gotten enough wire in there to get over the 0.5Ω mark, it was stifling the vape. So I tried with one less wrap (/ea) and now its just enough air to get me into the "very nice" place.

BTW: both XObox and me got a 0.9Ω on our 9 wraps

no, I'm not peased off. I was going to ask what you and Xobe are using to get your measurements, and if you were using the exact same tool/method, and if the tool you are using is a mod that may also be measuring additional resistance at the connector.

The legs on these 7 wraps may be a bit longer than on the 9 wrap. My meter doesn't do tenths so the 7s may have been .69ohm, I don't know.

I don't really care what the resistance is. I have learned enough to know how to avoid exceeding the limit of these 1600's so I rarely measure anymore anyways. I don't think my meter is broken, but it would be nice to see a second decimal place.. which may be a good enough reason to pick up one o' them fancy ohm reader things like Super Supe has. I don't like measuring with the VAMO, no good reason why I guess. Probably because it has always measured .1 - .2 ohms higher than what I get with this dmm.

ETA.. I think I'll swing by Radio Shack and see if they have any low resistance resistors (maybe 1ohm?) so I can see if this meter really is accurate or not.

I must confess to vamo-ism. Xobe, I believe, tested with both a tube-like device and an MM. I'm mostly just chit-chatting. That one reading just seemed off to me. Especially after I'd been on the verge of assuming that this René 27g almost seems to meter out to wrap count (1.5-1.6mm ID yielding same .Ω as #wraps).

case in point: I did a dual with ten wraps and got a 0.5Ω result. I did a dual 9 wrapper and am getting 0.4Ω (but my body can tell its around 0.45+) . . . my six was .6 and my 7 was .7

Yeah. I use SVD and MM to check.

I'm playing with different methods of working with the stuff. Still experimenting, but excessive torching and careful wrapping seems to be key.

I've taken out 2 coils rgat are near perfect and was able to just pop them out and set them aside for later use. Will likely toss one in my emergency rebuild kit instead of a blunt and fresh wire.

Any reason for this? Upon heat up two coils don't glow. When button is let go, the coil becomes even during cool down.

Fresh charged battery .8ohms. When I first built the coil it was heating up fine...

Ahh yes! The smile micro! Amazing flavor machine!

So, in the few minutes of tinkering I have done w/ the VV so far. It LOVES! my 1.2 coil, but pulses the power to keep it even. It was super slow on the heat-up on my 2-ohm 20-wrap.

I put the twisted coil of doom back on the grand. Debating what to put in the new grand

Dibby Crack? Monkey Cannon? Standard? ChristOnACross? Upsidedowncross666? Smile? Archway?

I forget the other coils we made.

Reminds me of Willie Landum, Fishing Guide to the Stars. The names of his baits and lures always cracked me up. If you've never heard him check some of these out.
