X, have you tried dual coil micros. I was thinking maybe 2 x 3 to 4 ohm coils giving 1.5 to 2 ohms ??????

No bro, the simplicity and output of a single proper micro, threaded with Rolled cotton, installed in an RM2, screwed to a REO and drenched in unflavored nic already exceeds my expectations by such a wide margin with every press of the ignition. I like it simple :)

2nd request tonight though...

Just to make sure I'm not missing out on anything I went and picked up one of these:

Only cotton I have used is cotton balls and Qtips.

Looks good bro. Howd ya like the vape? Having made a few similar coils, I quickly found that 1 ohm is too low for a micro coil like that. Very warm and sizzly. With an 18 ga needle, about 15 wraps would probably vape much more to your liking.

hey buddy, I just made my first micro coil as well. I also used 28g and did a 9 or 10 wrap, the only difference is that all my coils are touching which made the resistance a lot more then yours, mine came out to 1.7Ω. I guess with all coils touching it makes for a higher resistance. this coil, after a lot of tuning is now working great. for me I am so used to genesis coils in the .7 range and vaping around 15 or more watts I had to increase to 5v to get to my sweet spot. now this 1.7 coil at 5v is performing as well as my current set-ups, but with one big advantage, fresh juice every hit

Now all that's missing is a squeezebox and bottom fed RBA, like the RM2. Once you have acquired, you'll be living the dream :) never to old to learn new tricks are we? :)

Can you post a pic of the actual cotton? I picked a box days ago but it looks different. Mine just says sterile rolled cotton latex free, no absorbant. But the weight is same as yours, probably the same, & maybe they just changed the packaging.

I agree. For me all the smaller coils have I built perform better than any dual coil setup I have tried so far. Better flavor & increased battery life since the smaller the coil the less of a need to go with lower resistance. But for me not too high of resistance as I prefer a warmer vape. Maybe dual if you like to blow those massive show clouds. I was curious & built something to blow them crazy dense clouds a couple of days ago but I tried to do it with a micro/mini size coil. It was impressive but I didn't enjoy it that much. Too much juice consumption, battery life sucks, and I had really cut down on the nic level. Too much hassle for me to like it.

Wow, not what I was expecting. It's rolled up like toilet paper, and its wrapped in thin paper. I thought I saw a pic where it looke like a big cube of cotton in the box. The cotton does seem much denser and softer than cotton balls. I'll probably try it out after work tomorrow.

Yup, that's exactly what mine looks like. I mentioned that too when I got mine, definitely didn't expect it to be so dense as I kept thinking of fluffy cotton balls. That box is going to last a very very long time.

Squeezebox should be here tomorrow with the rm2.

I picked up this today:

I don't see USP anywhere on the box. If it's no good I can find some wild use for it.. like bandaging wounds.

I would rewick the coil you made but hubs unraveled it because.... well because he's a guy....lol He made me another but not much flavor in it and it's not wicking very well. I am trying to make 1 with the string and I can't get 4 strands through that hole, how the heck did you do that?! Thinking I need to go to hobby lobby or something and get 1 of those fat needles to thread it through? We've tried cotton ball pieces, the string and honestly how did you get yours so pretty and to work so well? Ours look like a 2 year old made them and they don't work all that fantastic. Not much vapor at all... sigh... it looks much easier to do in pictures that's for sure!! lol We didn't re-use the coil because we couldn't figure out how to get more cotton threaded through it. UGH!! lol
Sennie, you just wind the wire around the screwdriver I sent, install it on the atty (with the screwdriver still in it so that it holds it's shape. Then, pull a little bit of cotton off the ball and roll it between your fingers into a "string"....and roll a point on one end. You may want to trim any stray "hairs" off the pointed end. Then just remove the screwdriver, thread the cotton "thread" through the coil, pull it through until it just snugs up (you don't want it too tight....it needs room to expand) and trim the two ends. Saturate it, and you have a coil/wick.

If you want to re-wick the coil you already have on there, pull the cotton out with tweezers, dry burn the coil by hitting the button until the whole coil burns red. I "pulse" the button and blow on the coil once it gets hot....shortly it'll all burn red. Then thread a new piece of cotton through it, trim, saturate, and VOILA....new wick.

also I watched his video again... 2 things we noticed... his coils look like they stand up higher, does he have extensions? Second, he is dry burning his coil... we haven't been doing that, are we supposed to? Also made another wick... it's UGLY but it works so I guess it looking like a 2 year old made it is ok as long as it vapes hard right? lol

Those are it. The cotton in those boxes, when properly inserted and trimmed in a proper micro will knock your d ick in the dirt. :). It's the sh it that killed Elvis.

If you seen someone dry burning a coil with a wick installed it wasn't cotton or bamboo.
With the wick your using you don't wanna dry burn with the wick installed!

Sennie, a needle threader (like you get in sewing kits) would be handy, but you can make one. Take about an inch of the wire and fold it. Now take some of the thread and double it. Now put it in the fold of the wire you just bent....right in the middle of the thread. Now twist the wire together and you'll have a make-shift "needle." then stick it through the coil. It'll pull the thread behind it (folding it again) so you'll end up with four strands of thread through the coil. Clip the ends. That's how I got the 4 strands through.

With the cotton, pull off a SMALL piece of cotton from the ball and roll it between two fingers into a string. Now roll one end of it into a point. If there are some stray "hairs"....trim them, then thread that through the coil. Once it clears the other side, pull it on through until it feels snug. (It needs to be touching the wire, but not so tight that it can't expand.) Clip the ends. Saturate. Put the lid on and vape.

Sennie, are you using the screwdriver I sent? I sent two so you can use one to unscrew the screws, and one to use to wrap the coil on. Twist the coil around the screwdriver....it'll come out looking exactly like mine. Then stick the legs through the holes and screw them down before you ever take the screwdriver out of the coil you just wrapped. That way the coil will hold it's shape while you're installing it. Then remove the screwdriver that you wrapped the coil around and thread the wick through the coil. Trim the wire as close as you can to the post, trim the wick at the outside edge of the posts, and you're set. Saturate. Always saturate the wick before you hit the power.

yes we are, we just suck at it...lol I can't figure out how to get the cotton through the coil once it's hooked to the atomizer screws. I think we might have been trying to use too much cotton.

Probably. It takes a tiny little whispy piece of cotton....then roll that up between two fingers....it shouldn't be much bigger around than regular crochet thread....maybe a little thicker. Then make one end kinda pointy. It should slide very easily into the coil.

The cotton on the tip of a Q-tip will make at least two wicks. That might give you an idea of how little cotton you need.....
