(This falls under "not-gonna-happen, but") What I would LOVE to see is Schumy come out of retirement (again), but this time get a decent ride (RB10?). It was just so disappointing watching Michael circulating mid-to-back-field for those 2 years after his big return to F1. :(

I was disappointed as well. It would have been really awesome if a guy, twice the age of some of the younger drivers, makes it to the podium each and every race. Anyway, here's how I remember Michael.

Back when I started watching F1, MSC (my driver) was with Ferrari and was mostly battling Villanue and Hill. Eddie irvine was his teammate then went to Jaguar. Alonso was a rolling chicane. Ralph drove for BMW. What ever happened to Ralph? Montoya was supposed to be great (not) and button was a rookie.

I had a long break after that and just got back into it last season. :)

I go back as far as Damon Hill being champion. In fact I got married on the day he won the Belgium GP with Jordan. Had the wedding all organised for 5.30 pm, so I could watch the race first and still get to the church on time. But there was a massive crash at the start and the race was red flagged cos of the rain.

Missed half the race, but did make sure the limo driver put the radio on when I came out of the church so I could find out the result. That's how much of an F1 fan I am. Come Sunday, the Wife gets kicked out for the day, the phone is switched off and food, drink and vape are all set up ready

Excellent video playerone.
I have seen or read before that when the teams had a third car, it was usually set up for Michael and his team mates considered it dangerous to drive if they had to use it because of how Michael liked it set up to oversteer.

As the video states, constant tiny corrections on the limit.

How sad, I would never go to the pub on the morning of my wedding day to watch the beginning of qualifying then watch the rest of it in the back of my mates car on the way to the church.

Not me, oh no. That would be wrong.

And that's why I was disappointed with the results Michael had when he came out of retirement. But I guess he was driving a totally different car from what he's used to and he's also a lot older. Tires were way different as well.

I think that's why the younger drivers are more successful now. They can adapt easier to all the new changes that come through. Schumy wouldn't have used kers either before his comeback to F1.

The third car was set up for Michael when he was at Ferrarri, I remember one time when Barrichelo totalled his Ferrarri in the Practice sessions and it took his mechanics hours to change the spare car to his set-up from Michael's.

I will never forget the time I saw Michael drive his Benetton from the back of the pack with only 2 gears left in the transmission (4th & 5th I think) to win the race. I think it was Germany, 1995 but I could be wrong.

Simply amazing...and that was when I knew I was witnessing F1 history in the making.

Damn I was too young to remember specific racing events during the 90s. But Shumi only came back because he wasn't ready to retire when he was with Ferrari. I was in a discussion on my car forums and they were saying he was kind of forced to retire by Ferrari.

That's a fact. During the period of time I used to watch he was winning nearly every race. Some speculate that it wasn't good for the sport to have such a dominant driver. I thought it was great.

Have y'all seen the Senna movie? Epic.

I went to f1 last year at Cota. I happened to have the chance to treat the gentleman who sells all the trackside suites to a round of golf at the club that I run the f&b at. He kindly thanked me with two passes to the race trackside suites. I had never been to a race but it was amazing. Trackside with free food & booze all weekend. It was definitely a once in a lifetime opportunity for me....
I should invite him out again soon. :)

I've always said if I win a big lottery prize, after the house and the cars. The next thing I would do is follow the F1 season trackside for a full season, obviously staying in top hotels and having VIP access to all the F1 venues. Tis just a dream at the moment though.

I'd love to have a go in one of the twin seater F1 machines too, now that would be an experience :D
