The brass beneath it - like the one in my avatar is the catch cup where the 510 connector is located.

Got the "Kittens" aka "Lucy" today! 
It's a little cutie and am sure my grandbaby will like it. Being the black kittens are on a white pearlized background, it will look well on any colored glass I throw at it or mod for that matter. Am enjoying it right now on a dark blue tank on top of a white mod. This tip makes me chuckle.

Dale, it only takes 2 whole days to get one of their tips! 
I've accused Kayte & Doug of having their own delivery service.....you know, private jet parked on the back 40. Only if I order on a Fri. does it take 3 days. Amazing!

The Koa & Ebony Wood, pg. 541, post 5406, came in today (two days again!) and hubby is really loving on this one. 
Especially when I switched him to the black MVP with grey tank and his brand new favorite tip. Guys just like black and wood.....and leather too. Bet if Kayte and Doug could come up with a tip with black leather with wood on it and a touch of steel, the guys would fall all over themselves to buy one!
The Koa wood has lateral stripes in it that appear or disappear depending on how you tilt the tip! Sitting at the table tilting one way, then the other. Hubbs walks in and thinks I've gone off the deep end: but as you all know, I'm just a simple person easily amused!

I bet the tip you described could be done. Wonder if I have any soft leather around here. Other than Doug's jacket, that is. I'd probably get in trouble if I too scissors to it.

We got new blanks. They're very thin (but dense) so can only make little tips and they have to have the SS insert. They're so pretty! They really look like stone to me! Very classy. (First two tips.)
