LoL you guys!
Chooch, he got the broom out of the broom closet. Anytime we've gotten a bird in the house, we've had good success with them getting worn out and landing on the end of broom, where we can then carry them out the door to freedom. Poor silly birds. The axe handle was his weapon of choice to poke around with to try to find the bat and flush it out into the open. He does keep that handy. We've had too many people show up at our door in the middle of the night over the years. That's what we get for being the last house on the only road that goes all the way up this mountain. If someone has a problem and their phone won't work... we're the first stop for help. Which is okay, but, there are some not so nice people out there and Doug said he'd rather break someones jaw with an axe handle than with his hand. He needs his hands to make tips. ;)
The bat crawled out of the fallen curtains and took flight... going round and round and round over our heads. Doug crouched down and got the door into the wood shed open and fortunately it flew into there. We're hoping it's found a way outside by now.

Angelphyre... he didn't scream. He didn't even hollar.
Your set ups are so pretty! Would it be okay if I post that pic on the website? If so, and you'd like to make a comment/testimonial, pm me. :D

GF3 - You just had to go and creep me out with that HUMONGOUS spider gif! Fortunately for me, Doug is also known as the super hero Spider Slayer.

Today is THE last day we can submit comments to the FDA. Make sure you all get yours in!

Ah, men and "critters".

I am the one who has to "move" any frog in danger of anything. Hubby will wake me up from a nap if it happens while I am resting. The last few months have been a mad cycle of me scooping frogs up and installing them in various flowerbeds, usually hosta by choice. I don't know what he did with frogs before he had me, but evidently he sees some "frog fairy" in me.

Spiders get one chance in our house. I will do the pint glass over spider/thick piece of paper under spider transport out of doors. ONCE. If they return, it's open season. I love mosquito eaters as much as the next one but even common house spiders make me very ill if they lay fang on me in alarm.

To hubby, I leave the removal of birds from the screen porch. I'll hold the door, but it is his job to stumble around with a broom tripping on the furniture and garden fairies that live there. And of course, to then glue the fairies back together *sigh* bless him.

Definitely coming down to Chattanooga, will probably be seeing Dad on Sunday, but as his condition deteriorated rapidly this last week, it may be a very short visit. He can no longer sit up as of today, and has lost the ability to recognize speech. I am at a loss as to how I might console him, this has to be terrifying.

Kayte - of course you are more than welcome to use that pic on the website...I'll come up with a testimonial for you and send it to you...but not right now as this big martini I'm drinking is kind of wrecking havoc with my writing skills...you don't want to know how many times I've already hit the backspace button just typing this...

Merry - sorry to hear about your dad...just be there for him and give him lots of hugs and love! Sending you good thoughts and (((HUGS)))!

ETA: Oh yeah, and I submitted my FDA comments yesterday...good think because I hate to think what it would like now if I did it...I don't think an inebriated comment would be a good thing...

Big hugs to you MerryH. You don't need the 'right' words. Just say what's in your heart. I'm sure just your presence and affirming you love him will bring him comfort.
We're here for you.

On the spider issue... I used to be terrified of them. Then I encountered a centipede. Now I'm merely scared of spiders.

Thank you all for the support and good advice =) i realized a long time ago, none of us get out of this alive, the best we can do is love and live as long as we have.

When I was a child, there were large, hairy, maroon spiders that would creep in the window at night. At the time I had no idea they were probably after the bugs that came in the same windows, and they would freak me out hanging around on the ceiling waiting for a meal. In the morning they were gone, and my parents wouldn't believe they had ever been there. I missed a lot of sleep lying awake watching them up there... One morning, I woke up screaming...in the night, one of the spiders had lost its grip, and fallen into my bed, to perish as I rolled over in my sleep. Finally my parents believed me! I slept with the windows closed after that, but have never gotten over the creeps of waking up amid spider bits.

Over the years, the spider fear faded til I was able to avoid them, although having one splat on me if I knocked it off a tree would send me into screaming fits. This progressed to stone cold spider killer, until we bought our current home. Now I give them that one chance to live...but only because having more mosquito bites than freckles is a good possibility in Wisconsin.

We have some freaky spiders here. One that is actually cute and looks like a crab. It has a hard thorny carapace. But we have huge scary ones like the one in the gif too. Huge banana spiders, and several that are venomous.
We also have weird ones that put fuzzy stuff on their back. They look like a walking piece of dust.
The ones I cannot stand the most are daddy longlegs. I had one crawl across my face as a kid in NJ, in bed one night.8-o
