Hey, Sirius! We found our Medic for our trip!!!! Just knew we were missing something for our trip to D.C.; and, SarahDoll, you were IT! You can bring your cutie dogs along too to be a part of our "early warning" system......Do you have some solid stomping, fanny kickin' boots? :p

I'm all for that Chooch..and she can zap that old Rockinfeller in the bum with her stun gun for good measure. Wouldn't mind if she pepper sprayed him too while she's at it! :D

Hey! I'm a late night walmart shopper. Middle of the night is the best time to go there... you pretty much get the whole store to yourself.

Heh heh .. Night owl..No wonder you're not a morning person. Was ribbin' Doug awhile back when he said something about that. Was soo funny too.
You should get him to show you that email Kayte! :p
I LOL though when you said you can't even form words early in the morning. Too funny!

Awww thanks Kayte! And I know, such a stupid law for stun guns right!? And so sorry to hear about your Grandson! The reason they didn't give him any Vicodin or Norco is because it's contraindicated for children under 12 years of age. I know it seems harsh because he's in a lot of pain, but they haven't done any studies in children determining its safety or efficacy. The other reason is because it's a known hepatotoxin (toxic to liver) and since he is so young, his liver is small and growing and may not be able to metabolize the drug appropriately, which could lead to irreversible liver damage. The reason they gave him morphine in the hospital is because, believe it or not, the liver is able to clear it more quickly due to its opioid nature. Unfortunately though, morphine oral tablets are only indicated for use in cancer patients. Sorry to get all clinical and boring, I just wanted you to have an answer (since doctors suck at explaining things). I'm so sorry he's in pain though, and hopefully the Tylenol will provide some relief. Try alternating between a heat pad and cold compress (15 min on, 15 min off) to help with the pain (worked better than vicodin for me when i had kidney stones) The good thing is he's young and will heal quickly! Praying for a quick recovery for him <3
Thanks for letting me know that! I was seriously angry that they were letting him hurt like this. It would have been helpful if a doctor or nurse had bothered to explain this. It wouldn't have helped him, but it would have helped me and his mom. ;)

No way a kid could take Norco..That's what I get for my degenerative disc disease . Those things will knock you for a loop if you're not careful.
No way I could take the recommended dose of four a day. eesh!

Mommabird, most of the ladies are bringing their "equalizer" so you'll be in good company. :D

Sirius, didn't even think of pepper spray.

LOL sounds like my kindof crowd :) Lets just say that my family and friends comment about feeling safe when they are with me ;)

Glad I could help Kayte :) Let me know if you ever need any other medical explanations - if I can, I'lI help in any way! And one of the biggest failures in medicine right now, is doctors failing to be personable and explain necessary details to patients and their families. I know they are understaffed in hospitals, but IMO there's no excuse. You had every right to feel the way you did because he's your grand baby, and no mother (or GM) wants to see their baby's suffer. They do more harm than good because if patients aren't offered an explanation, they often start experimenting with different pain medicines that can ultimately cause more damage. We need more holistic doctors in this country (no, not fancy new age doctors) that take the entire body's biochemistry into consideration and offer alternate therapies (even as simple as icing!). But anyways, I really hope he heals soon and I'm sorry his doctor was so unprofessional :(

Being a medical person..Sarah can't hurt them as bad. The pepper spray is for Sarah. I'm bringing a .50 caliber mounted on a Abrams tank Chooch! :D

A lot of doctors are like that Sarah. Even my cardiologist. Had to have a muga scan and stress test and not a word to me of any results. just offed me to the cath lab. I hate being uninformed about anything regarding test results.

I'm sitting next to you.
I'll bring Watson along, too. He doesn't bark often, but he'd have fun. ;)

Doug and I have never lived in the same time zone. He's like a farmer. I would most definitely make a lousy farmers wife.

I really can't form words in the morning! Doug comes in from the shop when I get up and he's generally feeling super talkative. I try to pay attention, smile now and then and nod my head at the appropriate spots.

Wait a minute, Sirius! I think what we've got so far is a tank/rv set up where Katdarling is serving adult beverages with umbrellas at the bar after hours; and I can't remember, but someone's cats are getting rid of the mice so's we can put in some comfy sofas and carpets. Then there's the bus that Kayte needs a ladder to get on with her pastry cookies and......and.....all the food everyone's bringing. Think Doug's driving the bus while hubbs is making sure all tanks are full, but we needed a tank/bus troubleshooter/repairer. Whew! Got to go back (June posts?) and find out how prepared we are or are not for our little visit to the Halls of Ineptitude.

I'll tell him you said hey. I'm not telling him the rest... might give him ideas and I hate to see him disappointed. :p
Oh wow Kayte..look at the post count..500 more and it's new digs!...woot!
Is 10,000 posts the limit?? I think I'm going to miss this place! I suppose we look on the bright side that the thread will load faster for anyone on a slower connection.
