Sorry, Kayte. Merryhellion has some good medical advice. Afterwards, when Doug's up and walking around there's some silly looking simple exercises that take all of 5 min. to do on the floor and involves bringing knees to chest and out again. Hubbs has learned not to skip these exercises or there's a painful cost to pay. Hubby has been doing them the over 40 yrs. plus learning to lift with legs rather than back. So far, hasn't needed anything else. Also, when he develops a kink, hitch, twist in his back, he's discovered that that Thermacare Heat Wraps sticky on patch thing for backs greatly relieves his ache.
A few yrs. ago hubby was trimming some branches......on a ladder. Ladder slips, he tosses the saw aside, and does a "tuck and roll". He winds up with a couple of fractures of the spine and a back brace. When he does any heavy duty yard work, cutting wood, etc. anymore, he wears the back brace. He doesn't have to, but his back thanks him for it.
Who says old dogs can't learn new tricks?
Aging just means adapting......Although it took him the longest time to take his wallet out of his back pocket when driving especially long distances. He had to hear it from someone else before trying it out.
Take care of yourself too, Kayte. Can't have both of you laid up! Tell Doug we're all sending healing vibes his way.
