It's a mech mod, running an 18650 battery. The only option for turning it down is changing the battery to an 18350, I suppose?

Ok I see it's an orchid. Are you sure you aren't getting dry hits, and it is wicked properly?
Did you prime the wick? Try putting your finger over the airhole and draw on the DT, then quickly pull your finger away. Do that a few times, see if that brings juice down into the channels better. I do not have an orchid, but I looked and it says it's a lot like a russian, which is like a kayfun, which I do use.
