I've never broken a MM tip (knock on wood (tip)), but did drop a mechanical mod, which landed on the metal tip. There were indentations from the concrete, which would be very uncomfortable to use, so I contacted the seller and had it repaired. 90% of my (good) tips are from MM, but I do have a few metal and glass tips from... elsewhere. Probably time to go through my tip collection and get rid of my original cheap tips.
I have all my good tips on display on this stand from
fasttech. I've thought about the best display, and I'm not convinced wood would be the best choice. It would compliment some tips, and clash with others. Something in a solid color (or clear) would best contrast the tips and not distract from their art, which is what this stand does. I'm sure Kayte could pour a large block of clear acrylic with 'stairsteps' that would be much more classy, but still not distract from the tips on display, if she were so inclined... Maybe a positive (prototype) made from wood with rich grain, then a negative mold for the acrylic, as to add a wood grain texture in the acrylic? If only I had the tools... (I say that a lot, lol).

PS - Half the pieces that hold the shelves were broken when it arrived. They snapped off where they were glued in - not damaged - just cheap glue. I used superglue and it's good as new (or better, considering).
