So far I have only managed to break ONE tip. Doug fixed that one. Was my second tip a Maple Burl. Love that tip!
I broke 2 wood tips ( or my dogs did ) the wood ones could not be fixed. Doug tried! But he did fix an acrylic tip that I loved on my pink Reo. I was stoked. I did replace the wood ones with special order Doug made for the Woodvils :)

i can get them made out of granite but it is the shipping that will be the nightmare

hmm I can use my bit and polishing pads and make them out of travertine as many holes as someone would want and would not be as heavy as the granite I will do a test one mid next week when I have all the toosl set up

Going to take some time..with slabbing off of the burl and gluing it onto a pine board after shaping. Then there is the time involved in hand finishing with penetrating epoxy and carnuba wax. Dang that polishing is tedious. Huum second thoughts here. lol ;)

Just want to poke my head in and say hi. Received my first MHM drip tip, and wanted to express just how impressed I am with the quality. Ive been laying low watching what comes up for sale, waiting for the 'one' to show up. Well a beautiful "Sky Lava" tip came up for sale, had an amazing shape and the color was just ME when I saw it. So I used that as my excuse to finally register and get my 'noob' posts in so I could stop in here and thank Kayte and Dale for their amazing work. I look forward to adding more to the collection in the future, possibly even placing a special order for a custom random segmented wood/acrylic I may want commisioned if possible. Here are a few pics of the tip in its new home...

I've never broken a MM tip (knock on wood (tip)), but did drop a mechanical mod, which landed on the metal tip. There were indentations from the concrete, which would be very uncomfortable to use, so I contacted the seller and had it repaired. 90% of my (good) tips are from MM, but I do have a few metal and glass tips from... elsewhere. Probably time to go through my tip collection and get rid of my original cheap tips.

I have all my good tips on display on this stand from fasttech. I've thought about the best display, and I'm not convinced wood would be the best choice. It would compliment some tips, and clash with others. Something in a solid color (or clear) would best contrast the tips and not distract from their art, which is what this stand does. I'm sure Kayte could pour a large block of clear acrylic with 'stairsteps' that would be much more classy, but still not distract from the tips on display, if she were so inclined... Maybe a positive (prototype) made from wood with rich grain, then a negative mold for the acrylic, as to add a wood grain texture in the acrylic? If only I had the tools... (I say that a lot, lol).

$11.28 Acrylic 3-Tier 30-Hole Display Stand for Drip Tips at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

PS - Half the pieces that hold the shelves were broken when it arrived. They snapped off where they were glued in - not damaged - just cheap glue. I used superglue and it's good as new (or better, considering).
