A guy in my office complained about a guy tapping his pencil on the desk all the time....he can't tap his pencil anymore. Usually the person offended by something wins out. It's easier to make someone stop doing something than it does to make someone stop complaining.
So we should all go on the offense and complain the first time some one says something to you about using it. He who makes the first move wins.

I had someone complain about my desktop background once saying I had porn on it. It was my GF in a bikini at the beach. My laptop also faced me and away from everyone else. Oddly most of the other guys around the shop had risque calendar which no one ever said anything about.

Whoever said just don't blow any vapor out I really don't know how you do this. I don't vape anywhere you can't smoke. To everyone else it looks like smoke and I don't want to bring attentioin to myself. I did take my grandsons to the move recently. I used my Little Chuck and blew the vapor down my shirt. No one even noticed. I have gone to the bathroom and vape. I don't work anymore so I don't have to worry about that. My husband is allergic to cigarette smoke and this is wonderful. I can even vape in the car with him.

Honestly dude, I don't know why you are pushing the issue. Go outside with it. I still do. Jobs are tough right now, why push loosing a good job.
Company policies are different from the laws and insubordination is just that, regardless of what is right or wrong. I see folks getting canned for a lot less these days.

Go to work, do your job and do what your bosses ask. Even if it blows. You stepped on toes, maybe they won't can you for this but should you make a mistake down the road, it might just be the excuse he's looking for to send you off.

Just my two cents.
I agree, First let me say I believe everybody has rights and no one should be able to tell you what to do in or with your life. That said People are pushing this ecig thing in other peoples faces (not literally) and making alot of people mad at e-cig users. This brings undue attention and then the ones in power start trying to ban them and we wonder why. We need to lower the attention to the e-cig. Like my son went into the store and purposfully vaped, not cause he wanted a vape but just to show everybody he could. It's to bad we live in a society like that but we do. I know I probably made some enemies with this post and I offer my apology. Wasn't trying to make anyone mad I just don't want to see these banned.

I've got to say your entire response to this situation sickens me.

Instead of being mature you go straight for immature as your way of fighting it?

Maybe he had a parent die of emphysema or lung cancer. You've worked with him 2 MONTHS, you barely know who he is or what his personal life is like, yet you are set on making it hell because he didn't want you vaping around him.

Show some respect for crying out loud. Kindly explain your case at the meeting, explain the differences between smoking and vaping, and accept their decision as they make it.

And do yourself a favor, apologize to anyone you may have offended. I may not know you, but I know that attitude and I deal with it on a daily basis with the children I work with.

Just as an FYI, I'm 23. Probably a bit mature for my age, sue me. I just gotta say, your response to this situation was disgusting and really got under my skin. You seem to be one of those types that walks through life thinking everyone owes you something. Guess what? They don't.

Edit: I should mention I didn't read the thread in its entirety, so if this was previously addressed my apologies.

I guess you will feel the same way when someone complains about you eating your burger & fries 'in their face' then, offended because their uncle died of heart disease?
Appeasement is not the way to handle this fascist anti-smoking crap. Soon, it will be obesity that is up against the wall and in the sights of the antis. Same principle, different target for the haters.

That's not even close to the same thing since people don't get second hand fat, and no one is going to be willing to listen to any sort of evidence about smoking vs vaping and the many studies done on inhaling PG when it's presented belligerently. I also don't think it's fair to call someone a "hater" because they disapprove of a behavior.

There are plenty of things that are perfectly legal but are banned at work. Taking, and keeping, a job requires following some rules in the workplace regardless of how one feels about those rules.

There was no effect when a neighbor gained or lost weight, however, and family members had less of an influence than friends....

Dr. Nicholas Christakis, a physician and professor of medical sociology at Harvard Medical School and a principal investigator in the new study, says one explanation is that friends affect each others' perception of fatness. When a close friend becomes obese, obesity may not look so bad.

So, again, not even close to the same thing.

Don't misunderstand me. Just stating an example, not trying to debate EITHER way. So please don't try and put me in that light.

I wasn't, that just kinda made sense to me. If the people who complain get what they want, you should complain first. Say you're going out to the smoking area with your pv and having to be around 2nd hand smoke, when you have chosen a healthier lifestyle. Complain about it and make the company do something to appease you.

I don't really want to say where I work, because I don't want it to turn up in google searches and have this traced back to me, but look at my name for a hint. In a company that huge, they don't care what I have to say. I think they will look at what the law is (that is a win for me) and also whether it causes problems with other employees,

Yea, I'm not buying into this. There is no chance an automotive plant is allowing this.

They will just make the smokers smoke even further away. ;)

That's what they did here. If you drive past my building, you'll see the smokers standing on the side of the road puff puff puffing away.

I was one of those in the past. I still go out and vape while a good friend smokes. She won't switch to the light side though. I dunno why! Anyway.

I hope things work out for the OP. Being able to vape at work is a great benefit and helps aid in quitting analogs.
