Let me just start this by preemptively saying I'm a simple vapor. I've been using me reo, my RM2, and my cotton (non boiled just organic) for most of the time that I have vaped.

I have never bought into any of the recent (well recent to me in my opinion) fads of new kanthal subsitutes and all the different wickings. rayon, kgd, yarn, ect whatever. But in my quest for flavour I recently bit the bullet and purchased a few pads of KGD from kidney puncher, and I must say to all those who are still on cotton and wondering if the hype is real? Yes. It's amazing.

Firstly the taste... now that I have something to compare to cotton tastes muffled, compared to this. This tastes... well it really doesn't have one. All my pure Vg juices tastes amazing.

Absorbency? Compared to cotton. This stuff knocks it out the park. Cotton I generally had to lather in VG and wait a while for it to absorb, this stuff is a sponge. I'm giddy by how it absorbs, and yes i'm easily excitable. It's fun to watch how it absorbs the juice so quickly

Easy of applying to coil. At first I always assumed that I would have a difficult time of gauging how much to cut (since it's in sheets) combared to cotton which I can just unravel, but after a few tries I can gauge it perfectly and its so easy to slide into a coil. And for the added bonus since all the strands are going in one direction it channels the juice beautifully.

Do I sound like a kid on Christmas? yes... Well I am. It has brought my own vaping experience to the next level. So I may be onto something. I might have to give some of the other stuff a try now :D but I don't know how it could get better than this

Have you tried 100% rayon and compared it to the KGD? I'm always looking for a great vape!

No I haven't, Since I started rebuilding my own coils I just used cotten, but I have seen all the hype about rayon so I may try it now since my experience with this stuff has been so great. Maybe, someone who has will respond in this thread :)

KGD is cotton. If assuming OP you know this but your post sounds like your saying KGD and cotton are two different things. But yes it IMO is the best type of cotton out. I have used other Japanese cotton but I still like KGD the most. It has little taste, channels amazing and absorbs quick just like you observed. The price is well worth it to me. I know some who swear by rayon and I tried it but I like KGD better. I just buy it from Sephoria and I am sure other like make up stores have it as well.

katkandoo I have tried rayon and I prefer KGD cotton. I think it wicks better and has less taste. KGD has zero taste IMO as in none what so ever. The fact that it soaks up juice like a sponge and all the fibres run the same direction make it my every device wicking material. Once you try KGD providing its wicked good i.e you use the proper amount and stuff its easy to see why its hyped up. Its amazing.

Based solely on my own experience, I use both the KGD (just a brand name but gets credit for all the cotton pads out there it seems) style and the rayon. While both are exceptional as far as saturation and overall fresh taste, I give the KGD style an edge because for me it is easier to wick. Recommended to me, this is what I will be purchasing next. I think it is a very good price and if you look at the reviews, well rated.

I've had the same experience. Been using KGD for about 5-6 months and loving every minute. I also ordered it from a cosmetic web store (dermstore) because it was hard to find anywhere else when people first started recommending it. I got a box of 60 pads for $12 + shipping. I use nothing else and rewick pretty often. Might've gone through 5 or 6 pads at most. Worth every penny.

I just got these in the mail from Amazon. The free shipping did take 3 weeks to get here from Japan, but now I won't have to buy any more for a few years.

after much fiddling around and general cheapness, i now have shiseido, koh gen do and cellucotton rayon.

tried all the cotton pads, balls, organic, sterilized, boiled, twice boiled, not boiled, etc. ... all garbage IMO now that i know what juice tastes like on the first hit. :D

tried a bunch of silica from general to amorphous to ekowool.

tried all the applicable "grits" if you will of stainless steel mesh (appropriate for genny tanks, but not much else IMO) very briefly.

haven't tried ready x wick (nextel xc kiln burned to remove the dangerous chemicals), glass, hemp, other brands of japanese pads or peaches and cream yarn. don't feel i need to, YMMV.

i'm a serial under squonker and/or forget-to squonker that sometimes doesn't have the time to re-wick. so although the KGD performs much better than the other materials if you can keep it wet and fresh, the rayon has been my go to lately. it's more forgiving if it gets a little warm whereas the cotton will scorch and taste burnt even before the juice does over time.
