Has anyone tried comparing a kgd type pad to spun cotton yarn? I hear a lot of "all the fibers are in the same direction" as a part of why it wicks so well. Sounds like it's spun cotton, as in, structurally very similar to cotton thread or yarn.

I use the common peaches and cream yarn from wal mart. Roll a coil around my 5/64" bit and I don't even need to split the yarn, just cut a length and thread it through. Easiest wicking ever.

having tried nearly everything else, i can (and so will the others) Guarantee you the KGD will blow your mind and change your thinking immediately.

Vaping NET exclusively (notoriously hard on wicks/coils), I re-wick and dry-burn at least twice a day and have gone through a lot of wicking material in the past two years. I've tried various "types" of organic cotton, rayon, silica and dubious high-tech materials. For me Japanese cotton is - by far - the best for flavor and wicking, nothing else even comes close. KGD pads are fantastic but when they became scarce/hard to get I picked up a 200 count package of "Organic Cotton Labo puffs" for less than $8 and was surprised that they were just as good as the KGD but vastly less expensive. Even with re-wicking a dual coil Magma twice a day, this $8 package will last several years.

I have always been able to get Koh Gen Do. My wife works retail at Sephoria and they sell 80 pads to my wife for $10 (think its a few bucks more without the discount.) I got 10 bags for Christmas this year right as my stock was getting thin. Good for years now lol. I find one pad can do me four coil lengths. YMMV. I cant understand why some people swear so hard by rayon. I dont scorch my wicks so maybe thats why because I have used rayon for weeks at a time and every pull was less satisfying then attys with KGD

Well, we shall see. I have a bag of 200 labo puffs on the way from amazon. I'll watch some YouTube and get my building skills up to puff, and I guess I'll find out how good these are!

congratulations on your purchase. if the labo pads are comparable/identical as they say, you'll most certainly see the difference immediately.

I'm finally about ready to get into the whole coil wrapping/wicking/RDA/RTA thing, and the more I read, the more I'm convinced that the reviews of wicking material are as subjective as are the reviews of e-liquid. Boy, this is gonna be quite a ride, I think.

I think there's general agreement about the virtues of Japanese organic cotton pads, and KGD in particular.

Kind of, but not really.

If you go into Sephora will you be able to ask for KGD by name, or is there a brand name?

Right now I am using Organic Cotton pads that I ordered with my Lemo tank, but did pick up some KGD from Sephora a while back. I was informed that some people peel the two outer layers off the pad and use the soft middle layer for wicking. What I mean is there is a top layer and bottom layer, then in the middle of the pad there is a fluffy softer layer. They said to peel the hard layers off and use the middle layer for wicking. Just wondering if that is the preferred method of using KGD or any other organic cotton pad brand?
