I only decided last month that I would distribute the nic to the different freezers (one freezer at mom's, one at mine) when I recalled Exelon's response in Chicago last year to a power outage. Exelon is the main power co here. It took them almost 3 DAYS to get the power back on after a storm rolled through Illinois. The freezers are in different towns in two different counties, 35 miles apart, and rely on two different energy suppliers.
I am sure that most of y'all already know it but if your freezer should die or your electricity goes off for a few days, your nic will be fine. It isn't going to immediately start oxidizing when brought to room temps as long as you keep it out of the light.
Last November I took a 500ml bottle out of my freezer. Brought it to room temp and then transferred it to smaller bottles. I kept one bottle out to use and put the rest back into the freezer. I took one of those bottles out a few days ago and although it had been thawed and re-bottled it was still just as fresh as it was when I bought it in May of 2012.
I'm still here thanks everyone for advice and response..a friend offered some space in their freezer for the food(geez what a mess) had someone come and fix it and the parts have been ordered so I should be up and running in about a week.
