That's what I was thinking the other night..... it would be a great thread if people would post pictures of their "failed" or "given up on" mods!

Was busy yesterday working on mods and also finally rigging up and testing my 5 volt Nico-Drip V2! Same 3 "AA" Box.... with a juice bottle to feed the atomizer.... and two 14500 batteries... and a MadVapes 4 pin LDO to regulate the voltage..... and a little heat sink to cool it! IT WORKS!!! Needs prettied up though before it makes a public appearance and all. But it's pretty on the inside!

Now going to make two "official" ones... one for my brother and one for myself to test out properly. Connman will be the good tester as 5volts is all he uses now, I think.

Will post them when their done and tested.

Nice one Sci... Also, I'm very interested in where the parent domain of vapegate is headed.

I made the plunge and have a functioning juicebox type mod. All I can say is thank you for the ideas. I used the brass fitting out of a mini-bic lighter and it was a perfect fit for some tubing I found in a project type oiler bottle. (It was a new bottle, never had oil in it before.)

Don't glue the pipe together.
Put this shape inbetween
Plastruct 3/8 I Beam Plastic - Roundabout RC

It increases the surface gluing area and adds the centre bar.
It also adds a place to hide the wires.

By the way thanks for the bottom feed brass fittings info.

Petercro and Stormi.... thanks for the links..... sounds like neat stuff. That was a few months ago and my first attempt at building a Mahmba though. Trying to copy what little I had seen Tinear mention about his. The thing I eventually ended up with here... this Nico-Drip in a 3 "AA" box is perfect for me though. At this point, the PVC is out of the picture for me and ABS Plastic boxes (compounded by the strength of the switch and JB Weld) are definitely living up to my satisfaction and beyond my expectations. It's been dropped and through a lot and is fine and holding up. Heck... I'm so impressed with it that that is why I went through the trouble of the how-to!

I guess maybe it's not until you hold and have one that you see how tough these are.... and damned sweet!



I would also like to mention to anyone unaware of the Mahmba to do a Google search. Tinear has a few YouTube videos of the Mahmba V2 also.

About your ethernet connection-I've worked on 2400s, let me think on it. When you go to device manager, does it recognize the NIC under network adapters?

The round tactile switch isn't on the Nico-Drip V2 as this one uses the horn style switch.... but the first Nico-Drip 2 "AA" smaller version battery box had it. On mine it just failed like a regular tactile switch... just stopped putting out enough. On another persons mod it stuck closed and apparently burnt up an atomizer. On my second attempt, I stopped using it until I found a MOSFET.... then I haven't returned to it yet...

I now have a MOSFET from DigiKey to protect tactile switches and have it all ready to hook up into my Nico-Drip V1..... but have not done so yet. I like the V2 so much I kinda forgot about the V1! I'll do that in the next couple of days and make myself use it... test out the MOSFET. I also had to order some vero-board (strip board, pcb) to rig it up how I want to.

I listed the MOSFET with the link somewhere earlier in this thread.

Nico-Drip V1 with round tactile switch

I'll have to try it again but the V1 just does not feel as comfortable to me as the V2 does. My hand was broken a couple years ago so maybe that is why I like the V2 better. I really didn't expect to like the V2 more but that is how it has turned out.

Just feels very comfortable in my hand.... umm..... kind of like my hand is too lazy to have to grip the V1 where-as the V2 just sits there nicely! Yeah..... that's it..... it's physical therapy! LoL!

How's that for some lazy vapin'!?!

EDIT TO ADD: I do have small hands, by the way.... and not "man-hands" like on that episode of Seinfeld..... I swear! Guess I still should take a picture of them next to a dime or something?
