My version of the Highping $8 juicebox mod

Well, first off, I would like to thank highping for the great tutorial! Here is what I made. I used a 3 AAA box because I was going to use my TI 4050 booster but after some reading here it seems the cheapo batteries won't run it well. Oh well...I'll save it for another mod I spent less than $25 for all of my parts which are:
3AAA box
switch
16 gauge needle
5mm led
14500 900mAh Ultrafire battery
cheapo charger
510 battery connector
epoxy putty
dollar store pump bottle for the tube inside
So here it is











It seems to work great except the juice feed. Not really sure what is goin on. With the atty off I can see juice come through the tube, so I know that much works. I have tried sucking while pumping (sounds bad) and that doesn't seem to help. Arrrg...I'm just about annoyed by now...dripping with a juicebox is kinda dumb. So while I run to the store for some beer maybe you guys can give me a few suggestions to get this rolling properly. Thanks...WG

So the little tube connected to the end of needle was plugged a little...seems to work very well now

Putting the bottle in the tight battery lane will sometimes restrict the (bulge) of the bottle and can reduce fluid output. Sometimes helps to cut a slot on the inner middle wall to allow more expansion of the juice bottle




Don't know if you can see but I have cut away part of the middle wall to allow for expansion of the bottle

I've only made one mod and it was this one and it worked. So, I guess I'm qualified to comment. You can see my rather sloppy rendition at the end of highping's thread. The next one will be better.

I can't really tell from the pic but, I think you might not have the needle sticking far enough into the atomizer. I followed highping's instructions exactly. The whole time my instincts were saying the needle was sticking out too far. I even requested confirmation, which I got from highping, that it wouldn't hurt anything like that. So, it would be an easy mistake to make.

Turns out my leak was where the cap and bottle meet. Used a tiny bit of packing, making a little o-ring and put in cap. Seems to work now...

Hehe...got ...... at this thing and ripped the bottle out took the feeder assembly apart and put it back together as just a 3.7 box mod. HA! Just resolder + & - to connector, a little epoxy putty to hold it in there and done. Way too much room in there now though.

Really? Sloppy as it is, I love mine. The box isn't holding up though. I'm hoping I can hold it together long enough to build a couple more. The black boxes are supposed to be more durable. I have no other experience with bottom feeding. So maybe I just don't know any better. Hope you enjoy it anyway.

My box is fine...where the bottle was I can take my atty and tip off and put it inside for putting in my pocket which is kinda cool. Yea I just had iissues with the feeder system. I will mess with it more after I build my 5v box. I also got a length of lexan tube which should work nicely for a 18650 with the TI boost chip...we'll see. Have some 18650s comin on the slow boat from China
