Placed an order with NET.com and am kinda excited to try that new limited edition; Excalibur. It cost more (on the expensive range at a dollar a mil for a 15 mil bottle) but just sounded so good, I had to treat myself; I have recently realized I really like cigar vapes. On the site it states it uses a new multi-step extraction process with a two year aged (a good amount of time in a bourbon barrel) Cuban seeded Nicaraguan maduro wrapper. Has notes of coffee, coca, sweet cedar, and earth. It just sounded awesome and whoever wrote the description did an awesome job as it got my sale. Has anyone tried this one yet?

Perique Comparisons

At the high point was RBFS St. James Parish. Not really knowing what true Perique is like and only going by descriptions this seems to be the most mature and fully realized. Heavy and thick and yes, funky. It's very enjoyable after the first head-shot of almost overwhelming dense flavor It then kicks back and let's me dig what it's got to offer. Smokiness, a little bitter and earth heavy. This juice is like John Lee ....... The real deal. Sweaty and dark and true.

MVJ's H&H Louisiana Red Pipe tobacco is another one like the Ramon Bueso that I wasn't getting any flavor from at first. But, tonight it had opened up. It sorta of has the same quality of Perique that's being tamped down a little by the Virginias. It's still the prominent flavor as of now. I think this will be very, very good after it gets a little older.

I ran out of MVJ's Dunhill Nightcap before I made notes and the new bottle is still meditating but, it was spectacular and complex. Will have to come back to that one.

Want2Vape's London Blend has, to me, the same quality of Perique as MVJ's but it's more down low. The Oriental and Latakia are more prominent. Smoky and acidic.

GoodeJuice's Choctaw Perique is also good but, comes off as a little pale in it's straight form as compared to RBFS St. james.

Clay's VaPer Blend is very nice and nuanced. Both the Perique and Virginias are well balanced. This juice comes off as a little more refined and clear.

All of these with a Magma, 1.0 ohm 28 ga, and rayon running between 18 and 20 watts. All of these, except maybe the Choctaw, have been and will be larger bottle re-orders.

Tonight I have MJV's Louisiana Red and Want2Vape's London blend going at the same time....with a Nautilus filled with a straight, strong menthol to bring me out of my stupor.

Which e-juice with pipe or cigar tobacco flavors would you recommend? Thanks.

Start with the list of vendors posted on the first post of this thread... they are listed in tiers based on how well liked/received they are.

If you want suggestions... you should give an idea of what you already like and what you'd like something to taste similar too.

Nice comparisons. For this one though, are you referring to GeJ's Natural Perique or NETcom's Chocktaw?

St. James from RBFS for me is easily the king of Perique vapes. Towards the end of the bottle when it was really well steeped, it was getting really funky. Very good, but after it really got funky it went from an anytime vape to needing to be in the mood for funk. Still, was sad to drip the last of it. Will reorder one day.

I bought a bottle during the Black Friday sale. I have never vaped a cigar eliquid. It definitely smells of a cigar to me so I am going to let this one steep for a long time. If I am not mistaken, I believe Clay writes all of his descriptions and agree with you that he does an awesome job.

Ok, I've let these sit and I'm ready for some general impressions, I'm not a "tobacco sommelier" like some and most if not all of these have full reviews already posted so I'll make it brief. All of these had a 2 week "steep" and then 3 cycles in an ultrasonic cleaner.

Mountain Oak : Hardy, harsh? FULL, thats the word. I notice "ethanol" listed on the label and wonder if I'm vaping on a TA/NET hybrid. With no real easing up on this bite after the steep I'm thinking that might be it. If I was talking to a heavy smoker making the switch to vaping I would immediately recommend this as a possibility, It has a sort of sickly sweetish overtone too it though.

Heathers Heavenly : Sweet, too sweet, reminescent of indigovapes. If someones in love with fruit and dessert juice and we're trying NET's for the first time, this is the stuff.

Myvapejuice : ok, so this is the ejuice that finally sold me on english style, in fact i've been on an all english vaping binge for the last week and a half since these came out of the ultrasonic. The balkan of course delights me but the davidoff and dunhill which only had a sort of weak charm right out of the mail have come around to be delights. Even though I have copious amounts of DIY I'll be ordering some more from MVJ that aren't english just because they did this so well. The captain black I orderd just to compare to mine, I like mine more but I'm going real heavy on the concentrate to pg/vg ratio and I think they went for a more nuanced approach, its really good. The one that i'm still on the fence about is called "LJ Heart Burley"

Naturally Extracted Tobacco dot com : Same as the MVJ these didn't come out swining (with the exception of the gypsy brune and dover court) , For aromatics I have the framboiseset vanille, orange blossom. The framboises is the winner post steep out of those two, orange blossom needs more orange...maybe coriander?

I also picked up air cured burley and flue cured virginia, they darkened immensley during the time in the ultrasonic and both hold their own as single varietals, I'm thinking of mixing the two together right now.

Ethervapes : The bright burley...I can't decide if its better than the eclipse or if I've just had too much eclipse recently, its fantastic though. The classic virginia is A+ but I still like the hints of other flavors that the confederate has so I'll stick to that for now.

Well, we certainly know I'm not writing the descriptions.

:lol::lol:

Every product description would either take up several pages or a single sentence. :D

Just dropping in. That's all for now.

Oh, my gallon of PG showed up today. Waiting on a much smaller amount of VG and nicotine base of reasonable strength (4.8%) just to test the waters.

NETCom order placed, mailman stalking to commence after weekend. Need to get another magma. Or a new Kayfun. I forget to tilt, so I top off at 75-80%, works because flavor drop-off on the Magma occurs shortly before dry hits, so it's easy to tell.

Frankenjuiced my HHV liquids with Gold, Smoked Latakia, and Flue-cured Virginia extracts.

Shadow definitely enjoyed the move away from "Barvarian Creme Donut-esque" to "Strangely smokey and sweet tobacco that tastes almost like tobacco."

The mere fact I dumped a fair amount of extract into what must be ~3-4mL of e-liquid.... and still got sweetness... it bothered me significantly, because I was getting more of the sweetness than any amount of Latakia- the HHV juice dried my mouth out much, much more quickly.

Whatever is in there (their liquids in general), it's either sweetened or remarkably sweet to begin with and it parches my mouth for whatever reason. I gave the 'Maple Eh?' the same treatment due to ...well, only tasting maple at this point.

Guess I just lost my taste for HHV after vaping so many NETs.

Or something. :pop:

That said, thank goodness it's Friday.

As my friend would say in celebration, "It is weekend! :)"

I have GeJ, RBFS and Net.com periques and none of them are juices i want to vape straight. RBFS' St. James is perhaps the best, if i have to vape it straight but even then no more than an hour. I am having a lot of fun mixing them with other single varietals though. I like it at 40 % in va/per blends and around 20 % in English blends.

My favorite application of perique is in GeJ Patriot though. I have tried various mixes of cavendish/burley/perique and so far haven't come close to replicating Patriot.

Hi 67tele,

I think there is a consensus that the Ramon Bueso, while being very vapable as an all day vape, really lacked quite a bit of flavour, no matter how steeped.

The 5 Cask Vegas however was given approval by some reviews and general opinion, but I found it really didn't pack any more flavour than any of the other cigar NETs from MVJ.

I am steeping some of the new and improved cigar NETS and hope they carry more flavour. I would gladly trade in low gunk for more flavour.

The MVJ juices themselves are all of a high quality. Great throat hit, nice flavour even if subtle and good vapor.

First of all I'm glad you're alright seeing as how you were so close to the trouble.

I've tried the Ramon Bueso several times and have not gotten much flavor out of it so I'm puzzled. I'm not giving up on it, just curious. Using a Magma/1.0ohm/18-20w. It's probably a month and a half steeped. I have the 5 Vegas Cask Strength (bought at the same time) that I haven't opened yet.

Hi Patio,

Thanks for the well wishes. Things have been a bit crazy in Sydney CBD following the siege. There were at least 2 bomb scares, one in Wynyard, a nearby station (lucky I wasn't there) and one right near where the siege happened, just metres away from the massive array of flowers have accumulated. People who were in attendance to place flowers or just take in the sight of so many flowers where forced to evacuate for a few hours.

During the siege we had a live news feed running on a colleagues notebook of what was happen just one block away in Martin Place. I work in Martin Place just outside where the police had the barriers up. I went down for a look occasionally and found that some backpacker tourists had turned up with bottles of beer as though they were watching a sporting event. I also saw people taking selfies, with the sieged cafe in the background. What have we become!

Back on topic -

In regards to your comment about Lot 23 Perdomo I did fill a tank with it a couple of months ago and it didn't leave much of an impression nor did it seem to be any more distinguished than the cigar offerings but given your view, I am going to pull the Lot 23 Perdomo out again and see how it has taken a bit more shape with time.

I am starting to think the secret with Diane's last generation extraction process is to leave them for about 4 months. I am finding generally that the arc or cycle of maturity with cigar NETS is much longer than pipes. I recently pulled out some NET.com cigar NETS I purchased a year ago and they taste better after a year than in the first few months after I purchased them.

Anthony, I can only imagine that kind of experience and second our well wishes and thoughts for you.

As a former cigar smoker, I found that Diane's Perdomo Lot 23 was my favorite from her earlier work. I've recently tried her RP Edge Sumatra and find it to be quite a bit more flavorful and interesting. The spicy/sweet Sumatra wrapper comes through and adds to the complexity on exhale. The RP 1990 has less impact but after a couple of tanks I'm appreciating the smooth nuances which does mimic the actual cigar. I recommend giving those a try and they are both new and I'm assuming from her new extraction process. Less gunk than my own extractions, btw.

Thanks Vic.

I also found the older generation Gurkha 2001 to be lacking in flavour despite some praise I was hearing about it at the time but as I said in my original post, if I am using the cigar NETS in a tank, they transform as I get to the bottom of the tank!

I find the older gen of MVJ juices are enigmatic. Despite some of them lacking flavour, at least initially, I find myself reaching for them alot to drip or refill a tank. There is a real all-day-vape character about Diane's juices. Smooth yet with a nice throat hit, a delicate pleasing if, subtle, flavour. As a contrast, I filled a tank for work with Rygar from W2V and found myself wishing the tank to empty. It was too heavy for vaping it all day. Even among my favourite vendors such as GEJ, I find that I won't want to vape Patriot and others all day long, as much as I love those juices.

The only other vendors liquids that I would consider my 'desert island can-only-take-one-juice scenario'' flavours come from NET.com.

Glad to hear the Ruin-o-tor and La Perla Black Pearl are flavorsome. I ordered them both in my latest order.

Howdy Anthony,

Not sure about the older cigar extracts but all but one of MVJ cigars I tried had a good flavor. I think they were all done with the new method though. The only one that still has no flavor is Gurkha Legend 2001. It still is basically flavorless after about 1 3/4 months steeping. On the other hand, La Perla Habana Black Pearl and 5 Vegas Classic Cigar have good body and are a little spicy; just the way I like it. The one she sent as a sample seems to have the most flavor and has become my favorite from MVJ; Man-O-War Ruinator. That one has all types of layers of depth going on with it. Although, I believe these were all done with her new extraction method. Can't really speak to the tanks as over the last month I have been vaping exclusively out of my Origen2 with kgd or rayon (thanks Tele). That has made my vaping life much better.

On another note, glad you're safe. Being that close had to hit home. That would have freaked me out for sure. Stay safe.

Anthony, your assessment of Cigar juices are dead-on, as much as I enjoy my freshly made cigar extracts, they really bloom once my extract has aged ~3-4 months. ~3-4 months ago I noticed Cigars tended to need more time than Pipes, and I believe it holds true for a less complexly flavored juice like Nub Cameroon, than a juice like Acid Cold-Infusion. That seems to fly in the face of logical reasoning vs. my actual experience... am I nuts crazy.gif wacko.gif

It's always a treat when I find an excellent pipe tobacco extract that vapes great. McClelland No. 5125 Coyote Classic is Latakia, Turkish and Virginia done to perfection. Haven't come across an extract as well balanced tastewise. All three types come through with equal taste. I diluted at 20% and after a three day steep gave it a taste on the Magma. After several heavenly hits I filled a Kayfun tank using a 1.1 ohm coil and cotton wick at 12W on a DNA30. Yowsa! Four Stars.

This is the first time I filtered the extract normally and then filtered 10 mls with a 2 micron filter. I'll stick with the Aeropress filter. I got a decidedly inferior taste with the 2 micron filtered juice.

That's prophetic as I had the pipesandcigars.com page open to that EXACT blend and was considering the purchase ( was looking for a good English to do my first extraction attempt) well now I'm sold, into the cart it goes...along with a few others including Scotty's Butternut Burley....any opinions on how this and other aromatics extract and vape? Crudmonsters I'd expect.

OK, normal then 2 microns. Where does the 1 micron enter the picture? Typo, maybe?

Some macerated extracts are tastier than others, obviously, but ALL macerated extracts are Crudmonsters compared to synthetics. Just comes with the territory. I haven't noticed aromatics to be any cruddier than non-aromatics, but then I don't make the science of crud levels into a fetish. I just change coils and wicks often.
