Hi I'm quite new to vaping and I'm currently using a VTwo mini with a Billow v2. I use 2 Kanthal coils that give me around 1 ohm. I do MTL most of the time with 18 watts and a 1mm airhole. From time to time I do a few DTL drags at 26 watts and a fully open airflow. I use >60% VG juices.

I'm thinking about getting a new rta, as I dont think I need a dual coil deck, considering I don't do sub-ohm setups. I'm definitely not into cloud-chasing, I'd want a good flavour instead.

I was considering the Cthulhu MTL, but after reading a bunch of complaints about leakage, I'm not so sure about getting it now. What would you guys recommend getting, up to $30? I'll be buying off FT or GB. Thanks for your help

Yes, I'm talking exactly for this. Don't worry about this 3ml label....it's a 5ml indeed ;) flavorful, easy to set. Will need replacement tank also from GB....just in case.

I got my cthulhu mtl rta from gear best.. using 28ga coil wrapped at 2.5MM 7 wraps comes at around 1.2ohms. Coiled it wicked and am using for the past 4 days. It has nice flavour and produces good clouds too. It leaked yesterday from the airflow duct yesterday but I presume it is cause of my wicking. But still I will recommend the rta to you. Other one I would recommend is one engine nano..

Does the GB Byka leak? Is it single coil? Can you get a tight draw? Does it come with a pin for reducing the airflow?

Every atty leak just because of bad setup or bad o-rings imo. This one is not exemption but...I haven't any problem with it. Tight draw....o yeah. Don't have a pin...you can see on picture AFC ring with 5 holes and that's it.

I'm so happy to hear this. I have big problems when trying to change out pins anyway! If I can get great flavor and a tight draw without messing with the pin, I am very interested! I'm going to look at the GB byka now. Tell me about the wicking and the Byka's propensity for dry hits, please. Thank you!

Another great option for MTL is the Digiflavor Siren MTL GTA. Digiflavor had discontinued them for some crazy reason, but so many people were upset about it, they decided to make another run of 4,000 Sirens. They said the run should take place very soon. I'm not sure when they'll be available for retail purchase, but, I've asked the question.

The Siren is my favorite MTL RTA by far! It's a genni-style atty that uses cotton for wicking. It is super easy to wick and build and it provides excellent flavor. I've got 10 Sirens so far, and once the new batch become available I want to get a minimum of 10 more.

The By-Ka V6 is a great choice. It is a fantastic, almost foolproof RTA. It is VERY tall, so heads up. I prefer FT to Gearbest so :)
$13.74 KA V6 Styled RTA Rebuildable Tank Atomizer - 3ml / stainless steel + acrylic at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

The authentic has an even tighter draw option but the clone is still a nice tight draw.

Another great choice, and a much smaller profile RTA, the SXK DoggyStyle:
$14.00 SXK Doggy Styled RTA Rebuildable Tank Atomizer - 3.5ml / stainless steel + PC / 22mm dia. at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

MTL flavor greatness right there and only $10 with coupon code MAP. Again an almost foolproof RTA that is super easy to setup and use.

Another great option, the Hussar in MTL and micro configuration:
$19.79 Coppervape Hussar Styled RTA Rebuildable Tank Atomizer - 5.7ml / stainless steel / 22mm at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
$6.60 Replacement Micro Tank Set for Coppervape Hussar RTA Atomizer at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
$1.35 Replacement Airhole Pin Post for Coppervape Hussar RTA Atomizer - 1.3mm diameter airhole at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping
Optional is this top cap:
$3.10 Replacement 510 Drip Tip Top Cap for Coppervape Hussar RTA Atomizer at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

This one comes in at around $30 and is a LOT more finicky than the other 2 but man oh man, it is a great vape once you get 'er set up right.

And, of course, you can always go old school with one of the most classic, satisfying MTL vapes of all time, the Kayfun Lite. You should have one (or a dozen) of these in your collection regardless if you decide on any of the above. You can get all kinds of configurations of this RTA but here is a simple nano starter for ya :)
$6.31 Kayfun Mini Styled RTA Rebuildable Tank Atomizer (2.5ml) - stainless steel + acrylic / 22mm diameter at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

@JustWondering1 , Imo the byka is not prone to dry hits (it has a simple yet powerful JFC that works). Wicking is plain simple. Never a leak or dry hit for me.

Also wanted to let you know there are a couple of other ways to reduce airflow on your RTAs.

  1. KFV5 MTL Kit
  2. Rolled piece of SS mesh roll
The MTL Kit will fit inside any attie that is the size of the KF5 airhole (3mm I believe). You can even squeeze it down to get in a 2.5 mm airhole also.

Skip to about 7:00 min on this vid to see. He doesn't like but many do.

You can also do a SS mesh roll. You simply roll a piece of SS mesh to the appropriate size and insert it into the airhole. Kind of a "bubba" solution :)

Of the 3 options a true tube, like the Hussar offers is best IMO, then the KF5 kit, then the SS wick. There are other DIY options that people do and you can google around and get some ideas.

Thank you very much. I had no idea the KF5 MTL kit would work on other devices. Would I insert the tube into the airhole that's under the coil, or does it go info the airflow control hole? I've heard of people using the protank grommet to help reduce airflow. Once you put the tube in, can you remove it and use it in other attys?

Goes in the airhole like on the video. You can remove and use on other atties
