We are talking two different animals.
Example. on the Panasonic 2900mah high drain, In between when the Battery hits 3.76 - 3.69 // than under load the vape hit average 3.39 with range of 3.23 to 3.43
Under Load avg .33 drop
Very complicated
This is on a K100 Mechanical at .63 Ohm

You might be right instead of going by voltage under load, go with what the Battery is putting out without load, much quicker and cut it off at 3.75 or 3.69

What's interesting on the Panasonic 2900 is that in the zone of 3.76 to 3.61 we don't see much difference under load. The average vape under load doesn't change much even though the battery is being drained.

My main experience is with LiPo batteries, and I'm a bit confused by all these other chemistries. However, I can't imagine things being a whole lot different.

At least for LiPos, there are no magics involved. Most cells are produced by (it is said) 3 guys (and their companies, ofc). What label they end up with, is determined by their initial test results. Low internal resistance gets higher priced, and gets picked up by "labels". Higher resistance gets a lower price and end up as random-label/no-label batteries. What makes some LiPo packs seriously expensive is due to the different cells in the pack is tested and matched for internal resistance, so you don't get issues with one cell discharging/charging differently than others. Paying the same premium on a 1-cell battery doesn't make sense. Not saying cheap is the way to go, tho!

Can't imagine it being a whole lot different with any other kind of battery. People don't aim to make crappy batteries. They make batteries, test them, and price them accordingly.

It's a new world.
Dorothy we aren't in Kansas anymore. Batteries aren't as simple as they used to be.

The Panasonic Hybrids are not using Lithium Manganese Technology but they deliver 10Amps [Panasonic Data Sheet]
that was unheard of 1 or 2 years ago.

The Sony Sony US18650VT C2 uses Spinel Chemistry [unreliable source] and are rated to 30Amps. They collapse if short circuited.
Say what? 30 Amp Rating. Unheard of two years ago

Good news I just ordered a MNKE IMR 18650 1500mAh Li-MN 3.7v rechargeable lithium battery from Avid Vapers

So we are going to have a good mix of batteries.

I'll start posting to a new thread in about 3 more days. I was going to test the Panasonic 2250 Hybrid tonight but instead I'm going to Pico Rivera and protesting the new law.

You'd be amazed in the development in LiPo batteries. People pull 12KW+++ to power one of these babies. They run at 16cells (67v at full charge).

Good to see safer chemistries catching up!

LOL those heli guys barely break a sweat.... On road is where it is at.
my setup, 6Slipo(65C Constant / 130C+ Burst) pulling a 10500kv motor on tarmac.

doing a few test runs of that was enough to melt the battery connectors.... lets just say i wont do that again, was fun while it lasted though.

That was awesome... Had no idea an RC hello could do that. Impressive to say the least.

I have been using the aw/imr 18650 forever and love them, just received an 18650 mnke batt and there is a difference in the vape, the mnke does seem to hit harder for sure. I didn't really think I was going to be able to tell the difference in just the vape, but I was wrong. hey buddy, I have 2 18650 aw/imr's that are about 8 months old, I am starting to notice the red coating starting to slightly peel off of the negative end, you know the negative contact, the area that's not coated, well the coating that starts beyond the contact is starting to get a little loose and looks like it is starting to peel a little , is this something to worry about?

yes, the coating is important.... it keeps your mod from grounding out on the battery....
on a mechanical where the button makes contact with the negative - it would constantly fire, making the button useless.
on a mechanical where the button makes contact with the positive - it would hard short, when button is pressed.

either situation is not desirable.

but there is a fix, THIS stuff, the 1.5~2" is enough to re shrink wrap your batteries.

all you need is that and a blow drier (safer than a lighter).

mnke's for sub ohms?!

I figure I'm going to be in the sub .5 ohm range on average. Highly considering the 18650 Mnke's

Kevlar tape works well too. Not as pretty as heat shrink but it's durable... It's Kevlar.
