Well, I’ve tested Marcia Braidy enough to state the following. (This CE2 experiment is a stock R4 XL in all ways except tube material & braided stock wicks. The wicks were soaked & boiled cleaned, but have not been torched) The usual “my juices” disclaimer applies of course…

She works well. Very well. Vapes to dry tank from vertical very consistently. Multiple juices, multiple juice flavors & colors, multiple dry-burns – and no wick discoloration in or near the slits. And what I’m finding is mostly counterintuitive. The now-larger wicks are severely bent, smashed between the cup & tube wall, & pinched by the filler-ring slits. There’s been no change in wick surface area from stock. Nonetheless, she works. Well enough that I’m convinced that MicroCig hasn’t done much at all in trying or testing alternate structured wicks, irrespective of their claims.

This outcome has led me to a couple of different experiments with the too-short-stock-wicks, which amount to “purposeful wick distraction”, with really interesting results. More on that later…

Thanks for the report Scott. I kinda thought the braided wick would work. I'm finding that the wick can be smashed between the cup and the tube in some cases and still do a good job.

I'm waiting to find out what the latest C-E2's will do before doing any more experimenting with the wick. I have a sneaky feeling that the newer ones will be an improvement.

I've always thought the air intake of the E2 is restricted too much. Not only does the intake tube have a smaller diameter than any other cartomizer that I know of, but it is longer to boot. I'm doing some experimenting along this line that looks promising.

I’m hoping they’ve got it improved… might actually buy some XL’s to use just for pleasure.

I should have been clearer. I’m rethinking the necessity of a wholesale wick change myself, based on what I’m learning (but too soon to post just yet). Like zoiDman said; “…deceptively complex…”… But I still think MicroCig is FoS regarding alternate wick consideration.

I think (always have) the restrictive tube is at the root of the success of your bottle mod.

HELP:
anyone having any probs with orders from e-liquid.cn?

what does it mean when all record of your order disappears off any tracking system after it leaves "GUANGZHOU"...on 12/13. Thats the last record ems.com shows in their tracking and USPS doesn't show it at all...it says "there is no record of this item". I'm worried!! I'm also going on a trip for a week leaving Tuesday night and am going to be very short of supplies. UUUGGGG!!

All I ordered were E2 empty cartos and 9 batts. any way that could have gotten held at customs coming to Philly??

Any thoughts/suggestions?
Thanks a million!!

Ok, now that I'm in-front of a PC instead of working on my iPhone I have gotten a better look at the MAP tank. I have everyting I need except a lathe to turn the derlin to size. I've made some with 15ml bottles but nothing quite as nice. I'll dig around the house to see what I can use. I'd still be open to buying on sans CE2 if anyone wants to PM me.

OK, got another question for all of you. I've had mine for about 2 weeks now, haven't modded them (don't have the time or the tools to do that) but something strange happened over the weekend. 3 of the 5 I have suddenly popped 2-3 times and now is producing even more vapor than they did when I first started using them. I'm not complaining, but has anyone noticed that there was a break-in period before they started working well?

That seems to happen when I lay them down overnight or longer on the side or with the battery end sloping down a bit. I would expect these carts to vape better for a few hits afterwords but it seems to last till the end of the juice. I was beginning to suspect that at first only the outside of the wick is working at full capacity. At least near the cup where it otherwise wouldn't get a good soaking.

They break in for sure. If you dry burn at the get go it will help get them working. When a whole lot of variables line up these things work great.

Haft, you may be right and I don't mind fooling around with these things. It's a hobby for me. Actually if I can take them out of the box put some juice in, refill 4 times and I'm happy with them. With four refills I can throw them away if I want. I don't toss them but they are cheap enough so I can if I want to. With the juices I use most of the time they work just fine. With thicker juice I still have some wicking problems.

I would really like to see a carto with no filler to burn and that's why I am watching this thread.
Then I will be able to tell someone who is just starting to vape, go order some E2 r4 cartos and vape away. For that they have to work consistently with any juice out of the box. Close but not quite there yet. With the way the guys on this thread are going at it I'm hoping it won't be too long before that happens.

Everybody should try vaping theirs tonight, we got a lunar eclipse :).

We are all a bunch of lunatics and don't have to watch a lunar eclipse to prove it.

Oh well... I was gonna mention how well my "live chicken sacrifice" mod works, but I'm sure someone else here has already tried it by now.
