btw, i think i pm'd you as well about the PTB's....quite some time ago....im sure you have been crazy busy...
I must be lucky... I purchased two boxes of RoyalSmokers 510 XL R4's from someone on the classifieds here. These are marked 3.0-3.2 ohm with a manufacture date of 09/16/2010. (5 of them so far read 3.4 ohms on my digital MM)
I had 5 out to prepare for boiling, and decided to blow through them to see what kind of nasty fluid came out.... Nothing at all came out.. Bone-dry. I noticed the coil wicks were white as snow and dry, and pulled the cups. I fished-out the wicks, and they were white and dry.
I took a 20G syringe, and filled one up with some Sunrise tobacco. Installed the XL on my AIDTech EGo with a drip-tip instead of the top plug, and there is no bad taste. Tastes close to how it is dripping.
I Turned the EGo upside-down, shook it, left it upside -down, and it does not leak. I repeated this with the other 4 XL's with different juices with the same results.
I still may do the bottle mod for fun, but as they are straight out of the box, these cartos vape pretty damn well, and the juices taste great IMO.

Yes you can get some that are like that. But in the same box I got two where all I did was dry burn them for a bit and they were fine. Then things went south.
The next box I opened I did the same thing but BAM, got hit with the kerosene acrid vape. I inspected the rest of them and there were small droplets oozing from the sides on top of the filler ring (I think they are using lubricant on some of this stuff to jam the assemblies inside the tube).
As far as removing the ring, that can be hit and miss too. Sometimes its nearly impossible to get it seated back properly.
But the way you experienced it, that's the way these should always work and if they DID, there is not another carto that comes close to these.

You are definitely a lucky man. My advice to you: go buy a lottery ticket!
(then share your winnings with br. maybe that'll get him out of the basement)
Took a section of wick from a DOA xl and slid it between cup and slot on both sides. Jammed it in the slot. Works as well as anything else. (just not much better... sigh)

That's br's next chore: to design and build a circulating pump and hepa filtration system inside a syringe mod. The pump is activated on inhale and the juice flows through the filter before hitting the atty. Easy peasy. He should be able to have that worked out by tomorrow night if bad will give him extra cheetos and oreos tonight.
I ain't got time for that right now. Bad wants me to make one with convoluted black nichrome.
I thought you already developed a vaccine for that, br. Are you slacking off, or what?
Well doggone it. The wick keeps distracting the vaccine and I don't know if I can correct it before the fad gets over with.

Hey Bad - I'm about 5 months in and now using a V3 @6v w/carto adaptor (KR) (love cartos) and still using my KR XL manual batts with standard rez 901 attys - these batts never performed this well w/cartos which is why I got the V3....problem solved -I'm thinking my next devise will be a 510 mod of some kind and wld like to use both cartos and attys - been trying my best to follow this new carto design - just too much forum and too little time - Do the R4 510s and KRs in your vid come in that stainless finish and is Royalsmokers the only place that sells these???? - I'll check out your youtube vids - Thanks

yes they do, they carge 1.50 more for 100, make sure to add that in the comment box so they have no excuse if they F up.
if your buying in bulk yes they are the only ones, if you want a few packs clouds of vapoor and naporjunction sell them.
if oyur looking for a e2 r4 to work on 5 or 6 volts then u need 3.2 ohms and i would ask for 3.2 ohms , and then i would use thinner juice or the ptb method.
if your trying to simulate HV with the E2r4 then you can use the 2.7,2.8,2.9 ohm e2 at 3.7 to 4.2 volts.
