My buddy just got a Profile rda and loves it, so I've been thinking of trying one out as well.

The mods I like the most are the Pumper 21, Pico Squeeze 2, Revenant Delta, and the Topside single. Definitely wanting a single 21700.

The Pumper is classy as hell and a steal at half price, but I'm a bit worried being a mech it would be it would be a bit much for a profile. I currently vape at 60 watts or so and would actually like to start backing off a bit. Mech would put me at 80 watts, right? I guess I could cut the mesh a bit smaller.

I like the Pico, but it seems hard to find the silver. Also looks kinda cheap (the buttons especially).

Topside seems really convenient, but I HATE all the finish options. The new swirly gold one seems kinda cool but the color options are confusing and I dont know where that option is carried.

Revenant I'm having the same problem with, the red is the only one that looks good but it's hard to find at a good price.

Idk, I guess I really want the pumper but part of me thinks its dumb to buy something that's been surpassed by the new tech that's come out.

Thoughts?

Hi. I’ve a feeling this is the wrong place to post this because I read through this entire thread but no one seemed “new”.
Everyone here really knows their squonking!
So please let me know if there’s a more appropriate place to post this?

I’m new to squonking, (duh) and bought a Dovpo Topside Dual and a Profile RDA last week sometime.

Both have been sitting on the shelf taunting me since then

I’ve just been too nervous and scared to actually use the things.

The more videos I watch, but particularly the more that I read, the more nervous I get. It should be the opposite right ?

I know to you guys it’s super simple. But nothing’s simple to me.

Some questions I have:

How precise must you be building the thing? Cotton too thick? Too thin? Mesh perfectly shaped?

What could I do to really mess up? What could the repercussions be ?

I know dry hits are the big worry

Can the thing light on fire?

Can you over saturate the cotton?

How do you know when to actually squonk?

I know my questions are ridiculous and are probably just common sense -and so obvious that they aren’t even discussed, but again, not to me. It didn’t help that one very popular reviewer thought the Profile RDA was dangerous. Really. He said that.

I do understand that I’ll learn things just by doing but what if I screw up? How dangerous is it?

Thank you to everyone in advance - esp if you got down this far!

For some reason, I’m not getting notifications although I follow this thread. So sorry I didn’t see this sooner.

I’ve only been squonking a couple months, so you are absolutely in the right place.

I got the Topside single in black. I like wild colors, but wasn’t thrilled with their color choices for this mod. That said, I’m glad I got it. Great mod, easy to use, and that top fill spoils me. I’ve only got 18650s, so that’s all I’ve used in it, but I have some 21700s coming.

I’d highly recommend it.

@Gyrlgeorge None of your questions are ridiculous. I started squonking less than a month ago. @DeloresRose created this thread for people new to squonking, and vets alike, and for all things squonk related.

Have you considered first dripping on a regulated mod and getting comfortable with that? Many, if not most, were drippers prior to squonking. I was and I know a few others here were to. If you went that route you would be able to find your sweet spot (coil setup and wicking) with your RDA while dripping.

Once you have your RDA set move it over to your squonker and begin using it.

After reading your post I am thinking it may be easier for you if you were to make it a two step process. Just a thought.

If you go the dripping route you will want to make sure your RDA has the blind 510 pin installed. Swap to the BF pin when you are ready to start squonking.

I have been trying to get one locally in black or gunmetal (I have a gift card to use at a local shop) and they keep ordering those weird splatter colors even though I keep asking for a plain black one. I personally can't stand the splatter ones, but I'm getting old and set in my ways. I'm just a simple guy that likes simple things.

All little quibbles aside, my only real complaints are a lid that could work like a tank lid that didn't fully detach, and a stealth mode. Now if they used the aluminum chassis as a heat sink, to forgo the vents, and water proofed it, and centered the 510 over the battery, I'd be in heaven. But now I'm not picking.

I hate off centered 510s. Makes it too easy to knock over once the tank is on

I would have taken you up on that offer if I would have known before I went in to pick it up. But I refused to buy it and im pretty sure one of the employees bought it straight away. But if they pull that on me again, I'll hit you up for sure.

On the SE Topside, the grey/brown and black finish isn't too bad. It kind of looks like its been splattered with clay slip.

The others look kind of gaudy in comparison.
I personally would like to have gotten red. As for the se, I'd take any. Odly enough though, when I mentioned it to my wife, she sniggered at gold, then I showed it to her. Which changed her mind. Kinda looks half way between flame and mud splatter to me. She hatted the red, but that was off the promotion shots, which look far different from regular pics. I don't mind the silver though. The only one I'm not fond of is gold... The fleck paint is fine by me.

The worse offender, esthetically,, I find, is the dual. Looks like a deformed whale to me ..
