Why do you want to drop the pH?
I use the citric acid, it takes the bite off my high nic levels.
I want to lower my pH primarily for the reasons Mike said above. I've been using Nude Nicotine "Smooth" nic salts, and its great at first, however after a few months it turns amber and it's affecting the taste of my vape (though NN says it shouldn't oxidize any faster than regular nic, I think that it does). Nic salts gives a much smoother vape than regular at high nicotine and I use it in Myjet pods and starting to use it in my tanks as well. At 80/20 pg/vg though, that's a rather high pH and so its a little harsher on the throat (not nic harsh, just very alkaline). I bought "Signature" nic salts from NN this time (just came in the mail) since my sample bottle stayed clearer than the smooth, it has a little harder nic hit and I am thinking of adding a little citric acid and water to it to drop the ph in smaller batch juices, so it doesn't turn as fast and gives a smoother vape at the lower pH. I don't think its as effective as other acids used by Juul and NN in producing nic salts for faster uptake in the body, and I've read it can give a citrus taste to some juice flavors, but it should help to some degree make for a smoother vape.Citric acid will turn freebase nic into nic salts, which is milder tasting, for one.
Actually I read some recipes posted by a site that's closing (forget the name) and they used citric acid in some of their recipes, and then I went to the DIY forum and saw others using it. Not sure they were doing it to lower their pH, but I saw other sources say it was good for that lowering pH and that's my main reason, any salts formed is a bonusInteresting idea. Post how it works out for you.

Here's a quick look at nic salts for the Juul:It sounds good. I can get where in those high nic settings like a pod that something to smooth out the nic makes sense, but I wasn't familiar with using citric acid for it.
Havent tried one but I am intrigued by them. They use 5% (50mg/ml) nic. Thats why a lot of smokers have success with them, it delivers the nic big time. Here's a quick look at nic salts for the Juul:

Everything you said here mirrors my thoughts exactly. I started vaping at least part time probably over 4 years ago, tried Apollo Ecigs, Blu's, NJOYs, and Vuse when it came out (like you said, best thing at the time for those wanting to get off cigarettes, with that high nic). Then I found this forum, tanks, and still vaped high nic 36 mg and some 24, then went to 18 to 24, and now with nic salts im back up to 32-36mg in my myjet pods (and sometimes 32 mg nic salts in my tanks at low power, lol). Yet I vape less with the high nic salts, about 2 ml a day. If I were to give someone a device today to quit smoking, it would be a Myjet pod with NET extract at 32 or so mg nic salts, Its better than a cigarette, pure tobacco flavor. Or an NJOY Daily, or a Juul, though those are so expensive. Or a Nautilus coil tank, or better yet my recent favorite drop in coil Ego One V2 with CLR coils, at a lower nic salts level. If they like menthol, I have a DIY Peppermint Ice thats just as good as an NJOY daily Menthol IMHO. Most folks going from cigarettes where they did MTL will do better with those setups than with higher power DL at 3 to 6 mg nic. I would have failed quitting smoking with that or chain vaped all day long lol.I started out with Vuse, which at the time I knew nothing about (literally bought at a 7 11 with no research and I was still smoking). Sure enough I was off cigs the same day. Later found out Vuse is 48 mg of nic as well. When I moved over to a "real" vape, it was a mtl 24 mg setup for some time before I started dropping nic, mostly because I was developing a more DL pattern of use. I'm a strong believer that a new vaper/ex-smoker transitioning over does better with a higher nic setup to keep the cravings down. I think there are situations where a new vaper gets stocked up with a DL type of setup and then fails at getting off smokes. If I had jumped straight off into the deep end with vaping I doubt I'd still be at it.
Then again, if I had started with Juul or a MyJet or other decent pod, who knows if I would have ever felt the need to get deeper into vaping. One thing I'll give credit to, a well designed pod/cigalike with a quality juice is a big step up from earlier "entry level" cigalike things, and probably a terrific first choice for a smoker needing an easy transition. Stopping smoking is hard enough. Having to learn all about vape gear/mods/tanks/coils/juices and batteries is asking a lot when you're really missing that cigarette with your morning coffee.
Yep, Njoy Dailys (high nic, likely salts), Juul, Vuse (ugh that taste!) any device or pods with high nic nic salts will certainly get folks off smoking, though they are pricey.Havent tried one but I am intrigued by them. Nope, didnt try it.....Mike, there's always one in every group, so I'll ask if you tried 50/50 with H2O at all?
My condolences to you for the mess in you range hood and on the stove. If it had been cold outside, say 35 or lower, you'd probably need a razor scraper for the windows. I hate to think about the walls and ceiling, too.
I could put straight DW one of my setups and it wouldn't leak.Nope, didnt try it.....
But it stands to reason that adding H20 would lower the boiling point. I would just be afraid of getting the juice too thin and winding up with leaking attys.
Yeah, well, squonk if you got em........I could put straight DW one of my setups and it wouldn't leak.![]()

Meh. With enough practice, you develop "the touch".Yeah... Just don't look down the Drip Tip when you Squonk.

I just ran a total and so far, since the end of 2013, I've mixed just over 15 liters of liquids.
