I also tried the Blu cig a couple years ago. I went back to smoking after about a month of messing with it. I decided to try again and got the Vea from Johnson creek last week. I'm new to all the ecigs etc, and just wanted something that works to get me started. The starter kit is like $60. It isn't a little cigarette looking thing like the Blu, but I don't think you will get anything in that size, and also get a good vape, throat hit etc. But getting back to the Vea, it is 10X better than the Blu. I didn't even know how bad the Blu sucked until I got this thing. You can take huge hits off of it, and I haven't had any problems wanting a cigarette since I got it. I am now smoke free thanks to this thing. I just wish I tried something like the Vea 2 years ago instead of a crap ecig which lead to 2 more years of smoking.

Major want to add in - important bit- you are in New England - Its cold. Cig-a-likes SUCK outside. If you are in a position where you will be vaping outdoors - at least get the ego or evod stick battery.

I speak from experience on this one. The cig-a-like batteries have zero oomph to make any vapor when its 3 degrees. Its the same feeling as having a cigarette and no lighter during a major nic fit.

You will need the extra voltage and battery power.

Also - you will find a much more satisfying vape and it will most likely never reach a worse status than becoming a backup if you go bigger. Cig-likes - other than a quick stealth vape situation (that is not outdoors in our arctic world) tend to reach status "useless".

Good luck on your journey and welcome to teh ECFs :toast:

PS- not sure where in NE you are - but I think NH is the closest shop to me.

Bathrooms are great for a stealth vape, unless you are blowing clouds, and there is no fart fan. VG vapor hangs worse than smoke. But as someone posted earlier, if smoking is banned, you want something that doesn't look like a cigarette, for just in case you are caught stealth vaping. And I emphasize STEALTH vaping where smoking is banned. All it takes is for one person to cry to management.

Actually there are quite a few guys who have use e-cigs at work (cigarette look alikes) and they use them in doors with no ramifications. I do think it will be a problem for me to use at work considering there is no odor. Hopefully at least...

Now as far as the fluid goes, can I use anything or am I restricted to a certain kind based on the unit I have?

Welcome to ECF! Dont let the Blu kit get you thinking this isn't going to work. I was pack a day, to a pack and a half a day smoker for 16 years. I quit with a variable volt, 650 mAh, ego style battery and a bottom coil, plastic clearomizer (tank). When a craving for a cig hit me strong, I upped the volts on the battery and it did it's job. I highly recommend going for something that has variable volt capability, so you can tailor you hits to your needs through the day. Maybe a quick lesson on terminology would help you out...

Ego - Type of battery around the size of a cigar or marker. The bigger, the longer the charge will last, generally speaking. Goes from 650 mAh on up to 1300 mAh. Higher the mAh, longer it'll last before a charge. Some are described as a Winder, Spinner, or just called variable volt or VV for short. Those are what I recommend for someone coming from a pack a day or more of cigarettes. Another thing you at want to pay attention to is the term "passthrough". That means you can use it while it's charging. Beats reaching for a cigarette, although that shouldn't be an issue if you get two ego batteries. The batteries can not be removed from these devices. A good one from a brand name should last you a years worth of charges.

Clearomizer - Tank like delivery system that screws on to the ego battery. Usually has a mouth piece connected to an air vent down the middle of it. They can be plastic or glass. The glass is preferable because some e liquids react with plastic, causing the tank to crack.

Coil heads, or atomizers (depends on the site), can be on the bottom, or up by the mouth piece. I suggest trying one of each, so you learn what you prefer. Top coils will give you a warmer vape, and bottom coils will give you a cooler one. Bottom coils however, are easier and cheap to find and replace though. Most clearos have coil heads or atomizers that can be easily unscrewed an replaced. The cost is minimal. A little over a dollar a coil for the bottom coil. Some clearomizer can take dual coils, which supposedly deliver more vaper and flavor. They are more expensive though.

When ordering, make sure you get a charger for your battery and make sure you only charge your battery with the cable it came with. It's usually a USB cable. If the kit doesn't come with a wall adapter, I've used my phone ones just fine. I think someone posted a link to the kanger mini protank, variable volt, kit. Everything you need to start comes with that one, with the added bonus of te clearos being glass. Every piece on those tanks can be removed and replaced cheaply, so they'll last. The batteries are 650 mAh, so one may get you through work. They are not passthrough though, so I suggest you keep both batteries with you.

If you are really unsure of all of this, and you don't want to spend the money for the kanger kit, ivape.net has a starter kit that comes with one variable volt, 650 mAh, passthrough battery and a generic, plastic, bottom coils clearo that takes the same heating coil heads as the mini protank for $14.99. In their menu, you'll find it under starter kits, then express starter kits. They're selling out quick though, and last I looked, you only have options in white or pink left. This is a generic kit though, so use it just to decide if this is what you want before buying a good starter kit. I quit smoking last month with it, while I was deciding if I wanted to stick with vaping. At $14.99, it wasn't a hard buy. Here in NY, a pack of cigs are $14. Once I saw I could do it, I bought myself an iTaste VV v3, a mini protank II, and an MVP2. All great products, which I reccomend as well.

Thank you for the help with the terminology! I took a look at ivape.net. What are the differences between these two?

JoyE eGo 510 - Black (t2 upgrade)
Joye eGo T - Tank system - Black

Then I also see the category for the 510 models. I am assuming that these would not be ideal for me or am I wrong. There are so many options I honestly am overwhelmed lol.

The first option is a 650 mah(meaning it should last about 6.5 hrs before needing a charge) with carts.. NO tank. The carts have a filler in them and are a pita.
The second option is also a 650 mah battery, and has a small tank like system, which is a little better than the carts, but not much.
You would be much better off with an Innokin Iclear 16 or something similar. These work with the 510 threading(hence on this battery) and hold more ejuice and is a 1000 times better.

just my two cents.
:)

Good price for just the battery. Doesn't include the tanks.

Take a look at this link to give you an idea of the newest gear out there. Best bang for the buck. Shipped from us and I have bought from this vendor. Great deal. imo

I like the fact that this is a variable voltage and wattage. Based on what I have read this is a nice feature which will help with flavor depending on what you use. My only concern is that there is only one battery in this kit. Realistically how long will this battery last and how long does it take to charge? Also can it be used while charging like others have mentioned? Also do you have to use a duel coil (I know these are a bit more to replace) or can single coil be used as well?

You can vape while charging. And any 510 thread top can be used on this. If you want and or need a second battery, I would get this and the one at vapor joes(which is a single battery only, no clearo or toppers of any kind). That would give you a second battery.
And don't worry so much whether or not it is a duel or single coil at this point. These can be cleaned and reused many times before having to replace the whole inner coils/wicks. The battery has an 800 mah and should last around 8 hrs before needing a charge.

true no tank BUT that just let's you pick up a nice higher quality pyrex tank instead of using the plastic one's in the ebay kit.

ok if you want a bunch of cheap pastic tank to play around with here you go :)
Smok Tech eGo Slim ViVi Nova Tank - Clear $2.79 each

I did not think this was a 'contest'. The op doesn't even know what he does or doesn't want. give him a chance to figure it out at the cheapest prices. There is nothing wrong with the iclear and it is not cheap plastic. I use both these and the protanks. I like them both.

sorry sugar not trying to do a contest. truly not.
i actually typed that out while the previous two posts were made so i didn't see them. and you're idea probably falls in better anyways so he would have a full kit with spare battery in budget

p.s by cheap i just meant the price. less that $3 so no scary prices

I was a 40 year heavy smoker and I started with Volts from Smokeless Image. They are not what I use now, after 16 months, but they were a good starting point. I too thought that I had to have a cig-sized automatic. Fortunately, I ordered 1 auto and 1 manual in my first kit and found that, IMHO, the manual was more like smoking. I could never get used to the automatic, primer puff thing.

I started with 24mg and tapered down over time.

The weight was more of a top heavy thing...kept flipping out of my fingers...just had to hold it more in the middle...center of gravity...not the way you would hold a lit cigarette. It took a few days to get used to it...and you can't just hold it in your lips.

I also started with their tobacco sampler and ended up starting with the Country and the Desert Joe. I don't like those flavors now, but in the beginning, before my taste buds and sense of smell came back, they were good enough.

If you go this route, try the mini tanks...they may satisfy you more than cartomizers.
