...Another option to consider would be the Kanger Mini Protank 2 Starter Kit -VV. These batteries are not quite as robust as the iTaste VV v3s (650mAh vs. 800mAh) and don't have VW mode, but you get 2 batteries and 2 mini Protank 2s, plus some spare coils. Add in a bottle of juice on the same order and you're all set. I recommend the Blueberry Vanilla Tobacco flavor myself, it is VERY tasty!...

I agree and I disagree at the same time. Clear as mud?

That Kanger starter kit is what I started with, and a great choice it was. I don't have any iClear 16s, but I do have an iClear30. I like the iClear, but the MPTs are hands down the better tank. I never have any problems with them. Coils? Yeah, I have had coils that weren't so good, but that is not a problem now that I know how to fix them.

I'm not sure what your budget is, but I would go with the Kanger starter kit, AND the 101vape MPT2. Am I bias? Yes. That is my current setup. It will be ~$100 for 2 650 mah VV batteries (for backups, going out, or traveling light), one big VV/VW 2600mah battery (for home, or out and around when you can handle the size and weight), and 3 tanks (2 MPT2s and an iClear30).

This is a high quality setup with loads of battery time and everything you need (except for a std cell phone charger for the MVP2).

When you first switch, you WILL chain vape. A single 800mah battery will last anywhere from 4-7 hours (my 650mah went 4-6, so I'm guessing that an extra hour is reasonable). When that one dies, you either wait until it charges up or you use a passthrough. I'm not sure if the iTaste VV V3 has a built in PT or not. With the MVP2, you can chain vape until you are blue in the face, and then vape for 8(+) more hours on the 2 VV batteries.

So.. I'm sure that the iTaste 3 VV is a great battery, (one that I will be adding to my collection at some point), but for someone just starting off, mah is king...

Good luck no matter what you choose. We're here for ya...

... By the way as long as you are thinking of getting a sampler, I highly recommend getting some unflavored. Unflavored will help you establish baseline. If theres something you don't like about the unflavoured, then when you taste it in flavored at least you know its not the flavor...

Excellent advice! I wish someone had pointed this out to me before.

Congrats on making the decision to vape! I have been stinky free for over a week now and it has been amazing. My current set up is a ego battery with a protank 3 on it. I love my protank. I went through 2 plastic tanks in the first week I had my kit. If you are worried about the amount you are going to vape in a day I would suggest the regular size protank instead of the mini. I was a menthol smoker myself and have found I like the menthol liquids but I also like the fruits. Right now I am vaping a mix of peach and mint. It has become my go to. I will tell you my husband loved the taste, feel, burn and everything of smoking and the biggest thing that helped him was realizing that it will NEVER be a cigarette but it tastes better and makes him feel better. Also helps that we got a cool snap and he doesn't have to go outside to vape.

So am I just better off getting this and selecting the 15 coil option? If so how long will 15 coils last me? And I assume that because this is glass I can use any juice?

ooooooo nice find; I think 15 coils can last you a year or 5;

I had about 8 and busted 3 so far trying to clean them; ordering 10 more at the moment.

And yes - any juice.

I would recommend against that. Each of those tanks comes with 2 coils. I have 4 mini pro tanks (8 coils). I bought 15 extra coils. I destroyed 3 of them within the 1st week (mostly by screwing around with them after watching Youtube rebuild videos) and threw them away. 3 of the "original" coils have been working for over 4 weeks (clean and dry burn). I have rebuilt 2 of the other "originals" with cotton wicks, and they are working even better than the originals. I doubt that I will ever need the other 17 brand new ones that I haven't touched.

If you get 1 or 2 MPTs, only get 5 extra coils. 2 5-packs of coils will be $12-$19 depending on where you buy them. You can get another MPT2 with 2 coils for $12 at several places online. If you get 3 MPT2s, skip the extra coils and get some 32 ga Kanthal wire, a 1/16" drill bit, a small pair of pliers, small wire clippers (or toenail clippers - what I use) and a cotton ball so that you can rebuild the coils you have.

If you get the iTaste kit you posted, you can pick up a spare batter for $25 here -http://shop.desertvapes.com/Innokin-iTaste-VV-VW-v3-with-eGo-threading-IK-ITST-VW.htm

The iTaste VV v3 is a passthrough, so yes, you can vape while it's charging.

Ah thank you for the link!!!

Going back to tanks. What would you suggest for one that holds quite a bit of juice (so I do not have worry about refilling too often)? My concerns are I do not want to deal much with leaking, fluid dripping into my mouth, or having to invert the unit when fluid is low.

kanger protank hold's a nice amount 2.5ml officialy but can hold up to 3ml. pick your model 1, 2 or 3. 1 and 2 use the same coil and can be found everywhere. version 3 is dual coil and is new so might be harder to find a coil in a pinch at a shop plus its more expensive.

vestion one is getting kinda old so i'll leave out that link. also keep in mind these are all pyrex so you can put ANY juice and not really care about it breaking down the tank like on plastic units

protank 3
Kanger ProTank 3

protank 2
Kanger ProTank II

Hope I can explain this right or coherently. With a lower ohm coil you can run it at a lower voltage or wattage and get the same effect as a higher ohm coil at a higher voltage. So you use less power. Also since you use less power to get the same results you can turn up the power a bit and you end up getting satisfied from a 2 second hit instead of say a 5 second (I'm just using example numbers they are not exact)

Great and thank you for the links. Now when it comes to the replacement coils, what ohms do I get and what is the difference between 2.5ohms, 2.2ohms, and 1.8ohms?

If you have a choice then get a few of each;

A disposable ecig is a balanced product; a balance between
- power source
- heating coil resistance
- eliquid

The right temperature for the right liquid.

When you put your own thing together, with your own coils and various batteries, and different liqs, you want to experiment.

To play it safe just aim for the middle 2.2 ohms

Since you have the VV you will be able to fine tune with that.

Not even sure why you are even suggesting this? He hasn't even vaped anything yet and you have him re-building coils? No wonder new members get confused really fast. geez--- they already have enough to learn without all of this too.

Lol I am very confused. The only thing I am solid on is getting the iTaste VV V3 however once I do get it I am sure I will have no idea what voltage or wattage to set it for when I do get it and will be confused again in a new way lol. I can rebuild engines all day but all of this is like trying to understand Latin without ever learning. I am still not sure what to pair with the VV V3 and what will best suit my needs. I have been reading and researching for a few days and it seems that the more I read, the more confused I get. I will say that the feedback of this thread has helped and I appreciate this.

Stizz lets make this simple

start with this. http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genunie-Inn...t-Complete-Kit-With-More-Rivets-/181260848457

it comes with some tanks you can play with

if you want a second battery
Innokin iTaste VV (V3) Express kit - 101 Vape

as for voltage or wattage just pick if you wanna run it in variable voltage or in variable wattage and start from the lowest setting and turn up as needed till you get a nice vape without a bad taste

edit:last but not least once you have the basic use down then look into other tank options IF you feel like it. for all we know you'll fall in love with simple tank's the Ebay unit comes with

Don't worry about ohms at this point. The beauty of the iTaste VV v3 is that once you are using the watts setting, you adjust it to whatever hit you like, and no matter what ohms your coil is it will adjust itself to the hit you like. My husband hates to fiddle. That's why he stole my VV v3. So he didn't have to worry about what kind of coils we had. If he needed a new one, he'd just pull out the nearest one on the vape shelf, screw it into the tank and vape away. Watts are essentially a calculation between ohms and volts. So, once you set the watts, the VV v3 will adjust the volts according to the ohms of the coil and at the end the watts you set that you like are the watts you'll get. It does the math for you basically.

Ok that makes sense. I guess my only concern is the plastic tank. Everyone seems to keep bashing them. Also I am wondering realistically how long the the 5 clearomizers will last me. I do not want to be in a position where all 5 are gone in a week and then I have to worry about waiting for a new order to arrive. I guess I am so used to being able to go to the store and grab a pack of smokes when I need them and I never have to stress being without. I am so compulsive that I make sure I never fall below half a pack to ensure they are always readily available. Getting away from this and having to rely so much on online shopping as well as all of this unknown does make me a bit apprehensive. I have checked and there are no brick and mortar shops anywhere near me so online is my only option.

Stizz im a pretty heavy vapor. i can kill a 3400mah battery in a day and be on one of my spare battery's before i go to sleep. you wont kill all 5 in a week unless you are basically taking 10 second long hits exhaling and then taking 10 second long hits one after the other after the other till you drain the battery and then swap to the next battery. realistically even "chain smoking" (ya i know its vaping but im using a smoker's term) you'll get at least a week out of each

Innokin's stuff is generally pretty good. The coils in those iClears should last you a week or more each. Replacement coils are cheap. $2 maybe for the iClear 16's? When they go depends in large part on the liquid you choose. Sweeter, darker, liquids gunk them up faster. Tobacco flavors generally keep them good longer, as long as they aren't NET (naturally extracted tobacco). As for plastic cracking, you should be okay steering clear of cinnamon and citrus. I have this far with the iClear 16's I have. Some of my lower quality plastic I've had issues with, but those were $2 tanks. Cheapo generics.
