Welcome to ECF! Dont let the Blu kit get you thinking this isn't going to work. I was pack a day, to a pack and a half a day smoker for 16 years. I quit with a variable volt, 650 mAh, ego style battery and a bottom coil, plastic clearomizer (tank). When a craving for a cig hit me strong, I upped the volts on the battery and it did it's job. I highly recommend going for something that has variable volt capability, so you can tailor you hits to your needs through the day. Maybe a quick lesson on terminology would help you out...
Ego - Type of battery around the size of a cigar or marker. The bigger, the longer the charge will last, generally speaking. Goes from 650 mAh on up to 1300 mAh. Higher the mAh, longer it'll last before a charge. Some are described as a Winder, Spinner, or just called variable volt or VV for short. Those are what I recommend for someone coming from a pack a day or more of cigarettes. Another thing you at want to pay attention to is the term "passthrough". That means you can use it while it's charging. Beats reaching for a cigarette, although that shouldn't be an issue if you get two ego batteries. The batteries can not be removed from these devices. A good one from a brand name should last you a years worth of charges.
Clearomizer - Tank like delivery system that screws on to the ego battery. Usually has a mouth piece connected to an air vent down the middle of it. They can be plastic or glass. The glass is preferable because some e liquids react with plastic, causing the tank to crack.
Coil heads, or atomizers (depends on the site), can be on the bottom, or up by the mouth piece. I suggest trying one of each, so you learn what you prefer. Top coils will give you a warmer vape, and bottom coils will give you a cooler one. Bottom coils however, are easier and cheap to find and replace though. Most clearos have coil heads or atomizers that can be easily unscrewed an replaced. The cost is minimal. A little over a dollar a coil for the bottom coil. Some clearomizer can take dual coils, which supposedly deliver more vaper and flavor. They are more expensive though.
When ordering, make sure you get a charger for your battery and make sure you only charge your battery with the cable it came with. It's usually a USB cable. If the kit doesn't come with a wall adapter, I've used my phone ones just fine. I think someone posted a link to the kanger mini protank, variable volt, kit. Everything you need to start comes with that one, with the added bonus of te clearos being glass. Every piece on those tanks can be removed and replaced cheaply, so they'll last. The batteries are 650 mAh, so one may get you through work. They are not passthrough though, so I suggest you keep both batteries with you.
If you are really unsure of all of this, and you don't want to spend the money for the kanger kit, ivape.net has a starter kit that comes with one variable volt, 650 mAh, passthrough battery and a generic, plastic, bottom coils clearo that takes the same heating coil heads as the mini protank for $14.99. In their menu, you'll find it under starter kits, then express starter kits. They're selling out quick though, and last I looked, you only have options in white or pink left. This is a generic kit though, so use it just to decide if this is what you want before buying a good starter kit. I quit smoking last month with it, while I was deciding if I wanted to stick with vaping. At $14.99, it wasn't a hard buy. Here in NY, a pack of cigs are $14. Once I saw I could do it, I bought myself an iTaste VV v3, a mini protank II, and an MVP2. All great products, which I reccomend as well.
