sorry sugar not trying to do a contest. truly not.
i actually typed that out while the previous two posts were made so i didn't see them. and you're idea probably falls in better anyways so he would have a full kit with spare battery in budget

p.s by cheap i just meant the price. less that $3 so no scary prices

np. I just think it is hard enough for a new person to wade thru all the info that is here. Of course, you are entitled to give what you think is best, but I didn't think you meant price so my bad on that one.
:)

peace?

101vapes.com has the iTaste VV v 3 express kit on sale for $25. Get two of those, they each come with a USB charger. At the same site, they sell the Mini Protank II for $11 something. This set up will cost you around $16 more then the Kanger Mini Protank starter kit at vapedojo. Just an idea, if you want to make your own starter kit.

I am happy to see you guys working through this lol.

Sugar what is the charge time for this unit? Also what size is the tank? I don't want to have to worry about refilling all day long. Also I suppose that theoretically cause I work at a desk all day that I could just keep it plugged in that way it always stays charged or is this bad for the battery? Considering I can still use it while it charges this would be a benefit. Also are car charges available for this unit for long road trips?

The iTaste VV v3 has lasted me all through work without a charge once. Barely. It was flashing the yellow "I need to charge soon" light at me half way through my commute. I have an hour and a half commute and I work a typical 8 hour day. I didn't try it again. I generally charged that one at work, and it would take a half an hour to and hour, depending on how depleted it was. It's never been completely drained, so I don't know how long it would take then. It's an 800 mAh battery. But, as stated, it's a passthrough, so vaping while it's charging at your desk is entirely possible. I would still recommend a back up device though. Things happen, you never know.

aspire bdc glassomizer. Protanks are nice and the protank three is great. In fact that's what I'm vaping right now is a couple protank 3s with different juices. But I've heard great things about the aspire and now that they have the glass tanks I think I'm gonna order a couple myself since they're only like 15 bucks a piece. Probably the most hassle free and consistent vape I can think of. Look up pbusardo aspire bdc on YouTube. He seems to know his devices pretty well and he likes them.

When I started vaping, and not at my desk because I was scared to, a 2 ml tank got me through till home. However, that was back when all I had was that cheap, 650 mAh variable volt. While it got me off cigs, there's no way it compared to the iTaste VV V3. I do go through more juice now, but the vape is a ton better. I also have an MVP 2. That's 2600 mAh, which lasts me two days. It'll charge my phone in a pinch too. Quite handy for a long commute. I use it pretty exclusively now, since hubby stoke the VV v3 for his own.

Aspire is grate had mine for about a month now makes for a great day to day. Using it right now. Personally kill a 3400mah in an evic in a day. I'm just special Lol

But to make this simple just go with the kit sugar found its simple and to the point to get you started. If you have the funds grab the extra battery from the vapor Joes blog.
Later once you figure out if this is for you then look into other tanks Cuz that's just diving into an ocean of options. Head spinning options

As for charging on long car rides it's powered from a USB port so you can easily buy a car charger or probably already have one for your phone.

The tank is 1.6ml. Charge time(if not vaping--probably 1-2 hrs). The light goes out when fully charged, so I would remove it from the charging whether you are vaping on it or not. Yes, there are car chargers for usb passthroughs(which is what this is). Look for one that says 2000mah. Most vendnrs have them.
:)

edit..can charge with phone charger also. In fact doing it right now.
legion, I was typing my edit and didn't see your suggestion for phone charger. LOL.. we are both bad today.

Lol its OK :D charging the evic off the charger right now to. Aahhhhhh someone make me a 9000 mah battery so I can enjoy days of vaping like my friends do on their evics. I vape like a mad man lol

Oh juice has not been mentioned yet ( I think) if possible try to find a vape shop and taste test to find what works for you as I was a menthol only smoker but only half of my juices are menthol. Find one or two flavors that work and buy like 15ml bottles and see how they are after vaping a day with it. Once you have a feel for your tastes then let the online shopping for cheaper juices start

Unfortunately my car does not have a usb port but I know I can get one to plug into my power source so that's not a problem.

How long will the 1.6L tank size last? Meaning let's say I fill in the morning and work an 8 hour day. Would this one fill last the entire time or would I need to refill?

Lastly, can you provide a link for the extra battery I should get that way I know exactly what to look for?

I really appreciate everyone's input and willingness to help this noob! This is truly one of the most informative forums I've been apart of and I look forward to gaining more knowledge as time goes on. I am just about ready to secure this and put my smoking past behind me. I am excited as this is a step I never thought I could take so thank you all!

Ok seems straight forward enough. Why is it however that you have to replace the tank with the coil head (atomizer)? Does it burn out and no longer work and what is the cost to replace this? Are tanks interchangeable or specific to the model I am using? Are there benefits to using a tank that is different from the one I originally got with the kit? Lastly, how do I know when the tank is bad?

I do apologize if these questions are repetitious for you guys. I am sure you answer them regularly but, I do appreciate your willingness to provide me with the answers. I have already gotten a much better idea of what to expect and I thank you for that!

Those are the right questions.

You get a tank. The tank is the workhorse. You're not going to keep changing tank.
Inside the tank will be an atomiser with the coil inside. The coil gets hot and vaporises liquid. There is a silica wick in the coil; the wick tends to get gunked up with stuff from the vaporised liquid.

The coil *might* burn out; but usually it gunks up with stuff and performace gets poorer and poorer.

So the atomiser head eventually has to be changed; you might be able to clean it.

So you want to watch which tank you buy for compatibility of the coil head; the protank 1&2 atomiser head is pretty common.
I don't know about the top coil tanks though;

If you want to look and feel like a cig - which is just like how most people START, I would say try a few cigalikes like that Blu you tried; but try a different one; sounds like that particular one was a 'lite' that you tried.

Then there are the v-nano tanks, which with a slimline battery is just about the size of a cigarette.

To keep track of the money, budget to spend half of what you used to spend on cigs. So say out of 65 a week, budget 30 a week; put aside 30 a week to get yourself some decent stuff. After the first 3 months or so, you will probably be spending 10% what you used to spend on cigs.

101vapes.com. Vapor joes was just a blog i noticed so for about same price go with a tried true vendor. I have used 101 vapes and they ship really fast. Not sure they have ejuice tho. If you are not sure how much juice will last you all day then maybe fill two of the toppers to be safe. That way you don't have to worry about refilling at work. Or just take the bottle of juice with you. It takes like 5 seconds to fill.
Let us know how it is going.

Hello everyone! My name is Josh and I am from New England. I have been smoking cigarettes for about 13 years and I smoke about a pack a day.

I work in the car business and have been accustomed to having a cigarette about once an hour for quite some time. The company I work for is now going "smokeless" and we will no longer be allowed to smoke on the property anywhere (to include inside my car) starting January 1, 2014. I have always enjoyed smoking but I have wanted to quit for a little while as well so this may be a blessing.

I have tried in the past a Blu e-cig disposable that I purchased at my local gas station and this didn't do anything for me. A few of the issues I had was the weight of the unit it self. Being accustomed to a traditional cigarette, the weight of the unit itself was hard for me to deal with (maybe it is a mental thing). I did not like the vapor as it did not feel like the smoke I am used to hitting my mouth and throat. Lastly it didn't do anything for my urge.

I am looking for some guidance on e-cigs that I should look to purchase. I understand that there are many types and that everyone's opinion will vary. I need something that will be as close to a traditional cigarette as possible. I know that due to the components and battery, it will not compare to a cigarette in terms of weight however, I want it to smoke like a cigarette would. As far as budget goes, I am honestly trying to save money (if possible) from my regular cigarette habit as I currently spend about $65 a week on cigarettes. My goal is to be able to get away from smoking cigarette completely for my health, my family, and cause I cannot go 8-12 hours at work without smoking.

I currently smoke Newport menthols and something compared to this would be ideal. I work at a desk with access to an electrical outlet so battery life is not a significant factor. Any help, suggestions, or direction to research would be much appreciated and thank you in advance!

Hi Stiz,

Welcome to ECF.

First, I have not read all the responses to this question yet, so forgive me if I am repeating what others have already said.

As for the "close to a cigarette feel" this is going to be very difficult, as there are quite a few different solutions out there, all with their own trade offs. From all the research I have done, as I am trying to find one to use while riding my motorcycle, this is what I have found:

I think the absolute closest you will find with regards to weight and size is going to be the JoyeTech eRoll. However, battery life is going to be miserable, but it is designed this way on purpose. It is meant to be vaped as you would smoke a cigarette (or so my research would indicate), i.e. approximately 10-20 minutes at a time before the battery dies, simulating a real cigarette. It comes with 2 batteries and a battery charging case so that they stay charged. When you are done with it just drop it back in the case and it automagically charges. Performance (for this small form factor anyway) is supposed to be excellent (although it does NOT compare against a real mod).

The other one that gets a LOT of good reviews is the G6, however the trade off is the size and weight. From what I understand though, it is a fantastic setup that will perform well and has great battery life. It will be a LOT heavier than the eRoll (relative to an actual cigarette).

If it were me, and MY primary criteria was to mimic the size and weight of a cigarette, then I would say that the eRoll is as close as it gets (I think this is the kit I will buy as soon as I find it on a good sale). If my criteria was absolute battery life and performance, then I would go for the G6 (I don't care about battery life for riding my motorcycle, I care about clenching it between my teeth). As always ... YMMV!

Wow, I am REALLY late to the party! My last post was on cigalikes that met your originally stated criteria, but by the time I got to the end of the thread it looks like you have been convinced of the merits of a much better setup. It looks like (if I understand the thread correctly) you have decided upon the iTaste VV v3 and a Protank 2 Mini. If I have this right, then I think you have made an excellent selection. As suggested, at the current price of approximately $25 per battery and $11 per tank, I would strongly urge you to pick up 2 of each, and a box of spare coils (approx. $7). The biggest key to vaping is BACKUPS and SPARES! If something goes wrong, or breaks (pyrex and concrete do NOT mix well, ask me how I know), then you will be very upset if you don't have a spare setup. This is a bit more than your original budget, but after the initial purchase, your savings will come in the consumables (juice and coils). Replacement cartos for the cigalikes are EXPENSIVE in the long run compared to juice and coils.

Another option to consider would be the Kanger Mini Protank 2 Starter Kit -VV. These batteries are not quite as robust as the iTaste VV v3s (650mAh vs. 800mAh) and don't have VW mode, but you get 2 batteries and 2 mini Protank 2s, plus some spare coils. Add in a bottle of juice on the same order and you're all set. I recommend the Blueberry Vanilla Tobacco flavor myself, it is VERY tasty!

As always ... YMMV!

Ok based on the suggestions that I have received as well as the research I have been able to do, I have decided that the iTaste vv V3 is the way I want to go. I plan on getting this one as sugar suggested. I know that this will come with 1 battery, the necessary chargers, and 5x iClear16 Dual Coil Clearomizers. The clearomizers are labeled as empty/blank. Could someone specify what this means?

I assume that this kit includes everything that I need to get up an running with the exception of the liquid. Now I know that these clearomizers are plastic and I am reading mixed reviews on these plastic pieces. I know that the longevity is based on the type of liquid used. Right now I am trying to keep my start-up cost down to a minimum so what type of liquid would be best to use with this clearomizer to get the absolute most out of it?

I see many have mentioned that having backups and spares is highly recommended which I couldn't agree more. Nothing worse than going to vape and not being able to. In my case this would be very bad especially as I am using this as my crutch to completely stop smoking. I am still confused as to what I would need to get separately from this kit. If someone could be kind enough to post links of everything recommended to include the spares, I would greatly appreciate it. I would like to try and get everything at once that way I can start immediately start and never go back to smoking again. I do not want to be in a position where I do not have what I need or what I have does not work or is not compatible.

Once again I appreciate everyone's help and support!

Has anyone tried liquid from The Vapor Room as I am thinking of getting a sampler of 10 3ml juices? Also what does PG/VG Ratio mean and what should I select? I know that I should start with 24mg juice strength. Also I am concerned with using using the plastic tank that comes with the iTaste VV V3 as I am not sure what flavors are ok to use without cracking the tank.

Okay, so the term "blank" means empty, not pre-filled. That is more often used with cartomizers since they can be ordered pre-filled with juice. You are correct, the only thing this kit does not include is juice, you will need to buy that separately.

With the plastic tanks I would stay away from cinnamon and citrus flavors, these are known to crack plastic tanks. Most good vendors will put a warning on juices that cause tanks to crack. There are some vendors that don't use juice cracking ingredients, ask them BEFORE you place the order.

As for backups, I would recommend another battery. It does not have to be an identical battery, but make sure it is eGo/510 threaded.

Thanks I will be sure to contact the vendor first. Can you provide a link to the battery so I know what to get? Also what about spare coils? I just have no idea what to use that will be compatible with the iTaste VV V3 to keep it as the same kit that I receive. Will the 5 clearomizers last me a while or will I need to have replacements readily available? This is my concern.

Use 50/50 PG/VG.

The VG is glycerine; it is thick, and makes alot of fog. The PG is thin, and works better with wicking. By the way as long as you are thinking of getting a sampler, I highly recommend getting some unflavored.

Unflavored will help you establish baseline. If theres something you don't like about the unflavoured, then when you taste it in flavored at least you know its not the flavor.

As for the plastic tanks you got with your iTaste VV V3, thats just because you did what everybody normally does and spent alot on a battery! They just throw in some tanks for you so you have a workable set.

Nothing wrong with the plastic tanks to start, but once you get going, better to settle down with some good clean glass.
