First let me say how much i LOVE my e-cig! I'm 10days in & totally analog free from DAY1..
I am blissfully happy BUT i'm getting slightly worried that i'm enjoying it TOO much. Not just the 'vaping' but constantly trawling endless websites looking for the best prices & eliquid etc.(& having a wish list on most of them lol)
The thing is now i have a whole new set of concerns! Mostly about the need for 'spares' & back-ups. I keep reading about burn out or blown attys, dying batteries & various other issues & as i only have the 1 atty & 2 batteries that came with my kit i can't help but worry.
One of the biggest incentives for the e-cig was the huge amount of money it would save me BUT being so new i feel like a kid in a candy store! Theres SO many things i feel i HAVE to get..
I realise that the initial cost will be worth it in the long run but its hard to know what i realisticly NEED as opposed to panic buying.
Is this normal?
Did anyone else get 'hooked' when they first started?

I never want to go back to analogs which is why i want to make sure i take care of my lovely black RN4081 Super mini.
Oh & i'm from the UK which seems to be somewhat 'behind' with the e-cig culture, and subsequently (& typically) far more expensive.
Mind you, i'm doing my 'bit' to aid the e-cig takeover - already converted 2 of my analog friends!
Ooops - did'nt realised how much i was rambling on! SORRY

i was the same way when i started but after 3 months I've cut back to mostly juice orders now with the occasional atty. I have not had an atty blow out on me yet either. I switched to a joye 510 soon after i started though. I suggest getting a passthru and have about 4 extra attys laying around. I direct drip so no need for carts really now. A couple of extra battery's wouldn't hurt.

I have 3 batteries and 3 atties for my 510 so if one goes out I'll have a backup while waiting on my next shipment. while probably not unheard of, I dont think the chances are very high of me killing all 3 batteries or all 3 atties before I get more in the mail.

I am in the same boat as you on the websites and shopping thing though. I am sure the novelty will wear off eventually but for now this device may as well be surgically attached to my lips.

Welcome to the forum, Josfubar!
On the subject of realistic needs, look into getting at least a couple more atomizers! I wouldn't consider this panic buying at all. Started out with just one myself, ordered a few extra and my one died the day before the new ones arrived! Found myself back on analogs for a day before UPS finally delivered... Not a situation I'd recommend! My understanding is that atomizers are tricky things that can last days or months... It's a crapshoot even with the best brands.

First, welcome to ECF

As far as having enough... If this turns into a hobby it will NEVER be enough :p

But if you are looking for a cheaper way and just want to have a stock that supports your habit and doesn't leave you with your pants down should your 1 atty blow, this is IMO what you should have in your "BASIC" supply

3-4 atties So if you blow half of your stock you have time to wait for your next shipment (BUT it never hurts to have more) also learn the care of the atties as well to prolong the life

2-3 batteries to rotate.. don't to order too many at one time... they all go out at the same time (batteries should last awhile, but they do have an unpredictable shelf-life)

and depending on how much you vape.. start of with approx 60ml of juice... try to pic a safe flavor.. something that sounds like if it doesn't suite you,,, you can still vape it.

after that the sky is the limit.. and the opinions are plentiful...

Again if you want to spare... stick with what you like..and don't be tempted with all the cool devices and flavors :D

good luck and happy vaping

Thanks guys - so glad i found this place! Its also nice to know its not just me that gets that 'new toy' feeling..
I just know i'm gonna be placing 1 or 2 orders tomorrow hehe.
Definitely want to get a passthru as i find myself wanting to constantly 'vape' as opposed to previously only smoking 15 analogs a day.
Which also has me wondering if i should get a lower strength nic liquid - got the newbie nerves on not getting the TH if i do..
Ooh so many questions lol

I am in the very same boat, my wife thinks I'm nuts at this point. I have done nothing for days now. Well at least to her nothing, I've been here looking at reviews and info about using ecigs. I had bought the blucig before coming here, and its not bad, but have a 510 on the way now. I really wanted to get the SD mod, but I think she'd flip out if she saw that bill. I used to game for awhile at times on the PC, but the past few nights (4 days now on ecigs, no analogs anymore) I have just sat here watching reviews etc. I have a new hobby now, and feel that I have opened something I cant stop, which depending on a view point is good or bad. Im having fun though!

This is exactly how I've been the last few days. My husband thinks I'm nuts, but that's nothing new. ;) He thinks I'm going a bit overboard by researching to this extent before we've even tried our 510, but I want to be prepared.

I must admit when i first started coming on here i was a little overwhelmed by some of the more technical aspects in some of the posts but now i realise this is just another side of my new 'hobby'..
No doubt in time the thought of cleaning my atty won't fill me with dread lol..
Until then i'm just going to have to make sure i invest in some spares & continue to enjoy vaping to my hearts content - ironically something i do far more when i'm on here haha.
Oh & I've already been thinking about how to save money on eliquid by buying high strength & diluting but i'm not sure i'm ready to risk messing it up & wasting money, not to mention having no juice to vape! I keep reading all the posts about this & (especially those on MENTHOL juice as this is my only interest) am sure in the not too distant future i will be confident enough to have a go.

Err... rambling again!

Hi, welcome to the forum! I know that I, for one, am just SO excited that something actually worked to get me off the ciggies after 25 years!!! It's hard to not try to find out absolutely everything there is to know about it! I personally spent about $180 the first week: 4 atty's 4 batts (two 510, two eGo), 2 chargers, 15 carts, some rite-size U, 170mL juice in 12 flavors, pair of needle nose tweezers, locking storage case so the kids don't get into it. I think I'll break even in mid May or so. So even though all that should last me for a while, I've promised myself that I won't spend more on vaping than I did on smoking - so no more buying until mid May! For you I DO recommend getting some spares of EVERYTHING though. It's one thing to go crazy with your new obsession, but you really should be prepared for parts to go kaput too. Also: nicotine is no worse for you than caffeine, so I wouldn't worry too much about cutting back on that yet - vape, vape, vape! You'll know if you've had enough, the most important thing right now is to stay off the analogs! (oh, yeah, I bought a starter kit for my friend too, but I'm not counting that cause it's her birthday)

Thanks Rosa - can you tell me how i insert the banner at the bottom of your post?
I've done mine & have the codes but just don't know where to put them..

Sorry, i'm not very good with the technical stuff lol - i asked about a chat room on here & when i visited the link posted in a reply it totally overwhelmed me!
But i figure the banner will just be a case of knowing where to insert the code, that i think i can manage hehe

Paste the BB code in the body of the text where your custom signature goes when you edit your profile. As long as your BBcodes are on, that should work.:)
And I'm not technical either - it took me three days to figure out how to do this even WITH instructions...so sad....

Seriously. I got my first order on Monday. I've placed 3 more orders since then.

When I realized I wasn't going to want any more analogs (I hadn't intended to quit, I just wanted to be able to 'smoke' inside), I wanted to make sure I have enough spares of everything. Plus I've been playing Mad Scientist and mixing my own juice so I "needed" stuff for that. I'll have saved what I've spent so far about the end of May, I think.:D
