I've been weaning myself off nicotine because I sick of getting ripped off on insurance.
I'm currently vaping .50 to.75 mg liquid that I make myself.
I'm thinking of getting some home nicotine tests to start testing myself for nic to see if I still test positive at this level.
Has anyone here ever tried this? Does anyone know which is more sensitive, the urine test or the saliva test? I don't want to buy anything I have to send out to a lab. Can anyone recommend a particular brand of test?
I'll post my results if anyone is interested.

Hi cookiebun. Don't know anything about nic tests but I was wondering why you don't just go zero nic. I'm sure you won't be able to tell the difference between less than 1 mg and zero. I cut back from 6 mg to zero without issue back in mid July.

I'm going to go 0 eventually. I just want to see how sensitive the home tests are.
I definitely noticed when I dropped from 3 to 1. I'm still a bit on edge from that.

I have to take a physical every year because of my job. It includes a blood test. And, they ask if I smoke. No, I don't smoke....next question! I have heard it can take 3-4 days for your body to get rid of all the metabolites (like cotinine, the longest lasting). But I just don't vape/smoke about 4 hours before the test and they have never called me on it.

Seriously, they can bite me. They offer as little pay as possible for the most amount of work they can get out of me and don't offer any kind of pension to boot. At 65 I will be a Walmart greeter or homeless. You'll find no allegiance here!

My wife and I ordered the TobacAlert test just to see if there was any nicotine in her system from my vaping in our home. From my research the test is very accurate. Easy to do and results in about 15 minutes. I think it cost about $40 for both test. Results? I showed level 5 she showed level zero.

Thanks very much for the reply. Did you post here about you and your wife taking that test?
I read that in a thread a while ago and told my husband about it. What level of nic where you using then? I've been down to 1mg or less for about a month.
Thanks for the link.

That does bite.
I'm fairly well paid for what I do and have a 401k and benefits. Nobody bugs me about smoking, they just charge me $80 a month more for health insurance. Couldn't say how much more the life insurance costs.
Everything will be going up again in January.

I was under the impression cotinine was detectable in blood for nearly 2 weeks.

Yes I did post a few months ago, thanks for asking. My mg level is 26. I was very pleased with the test. My wife and I are both home 24/7 so it's great to know she isn't getting any nicotine from me.

I agree, on 8/4 I went from 6mg to 0mg and have not had any withdrawals. Easy Peezy! I used a mint flavor for the first 3 days to give me a bit of a hit since there was no nic to do that. I have read that nic can be detected for at least 2 weeks from a saliva swab test.
