Flitzanu: I mouth inhale.

Deadcat2: I will pack or windmill. I like that idea.

SquirrilahFish: I do PTB.

Proverb: I'll ease up and try to give it a 5-count until it's habit.

Deadcat2: OK, no more primer puffs.

Again, thanks for the tips. I'll keep up with my 510.
if its hard to drag, i say it might be an atty problem or u got too much juice in there...this is why i started dripping instead & threw out all my PTB & fillers...1 or 2 drops (about 1 analog cigarette) on the atty is not gonna flood the atty...easier to draw since there's less liquid & no filler, easier to keep count of how much u vape, less leaks & mess...(IMO) it actually turned out to be more convenient than filling/topping off for me...most of the other stuff were already mentioned by me or other posters, so all i have left to say is try somebody else's juices/flavors...i'm still learning like u & i also started to doubt the hype about 510's in the last couple days :)

Psyc - Taste buds: Yes, my taste buds need to wake up, no doubt. But there is a difference between not tasting something and having something taste bad. Isn't there??
Yup, but I was more talking about the "burning everything to the same taste" effect. When I first started I could sort of taste menthol, but the Camel juice had no taste for me. Now it's my favorite juice. It only took two days or so.

Your long drives and flavor requirements sound like you'd love an 801.

Jk Jk - but seriously get a new atomizer and/or high volt big battery mod.

I'm 3 days into my 510, and I'm just not loving it. I certainly love e-cigs, since I haven't had an analog in 24 hours and I'm not missing them. So I want to try some other mod, and I was hoping that people could help with some insight into the others available.

1) This thing makes me feel like I'm trying to sip a thick milk shake through a tiny straw. What models draw better?

2) I would like to get better flavor. The 510 seems to burn everything to a nearly-identical taste. Well, this may be due to the juices I got, or it may be due to my taste buds not working fully yet. Whatever the reason, I'd rather be prepared with an e-cig that draws well and gives better flavor.

3) After smoking Marlboros and unfiltered Djarums for 23 years, I figured that I'd want the throat hit of the 510. Well, I don't like the burn on the back of my throat when I get a good hit. I'd rather have a smooth hit with lots of flavor.

4) Speaking of good hits, they're inconsistent as hell for me. They only seem to happen on a fresh battery with a topped-off cart. Which means I get 10 minutes of good vaping at a time. I can't always top off (like when I'm driving). But I'll deal with constantly topping off if everything else above is possible with one unit.

Actually I've been trying to vape with a better technique - I think I was sucking too hard - and it's getting better. High-nic VG seems to help - at least the VG is giving me more vapor which makes me happier. :D

I had the same frustrations at first. When I wanted more smoke from a regular cigarette I just pulled harder. I found out (not as quickly as I would have liked to have found out) that if I take the lightest drag possible, especially with a 510 manual battery, the longer drag I can take and get the most out of every drag. Not really a 'pull' but more like allowing the vapor to accommodate my mouth, if that makes any sense. I am currently using a PTB mod that is working well and getting plenty of juice so I hardly have to worry about getting a dry/ burnt taste until my cart is almost completely empty or its been sitting a long while (drying cart.) I think you made a great choice with the 510 and I hope things continue to improve for you.

No. Dripping is when you put a drop or two directly onto the atomizer bridge. You don't use a cart when dripping.

I'm thinking an Empty mouthpiece, with no internal cart that holds the filler, but you still need a mouth piece. Is this what you meant? Dripping eJuice directly on the atomizer, then covering with an empty mouthpiece (minus the cart).

Sorry, I'm just a very literal person when it comes to directions, and explanations.

Exactly. That is what I do with my 510. I haven't tried using the completely empty cart that comes on the atomizer yet.

Exactly.

I will certainly check it out. Thanks.

I use the carts. Occasionly, I drop a drop or two in the atty before I push the cart on if it's really dry.

Some people swear by dripping only. It's a matter of prefrance.

what is "dripping"? And I assume Atty is slang for atomizer?

I JUST GOT mine this morning, and I'm having all the same issues. Plus the battery already died.

dripping is when u drip 1 or 2 drops (about 1 .... log) directly on the atomizer mesh bridge...i only drip now, i threw out the cart filler & just use an empty cart/mouthpiece or none at all...when i don't use the mouthpiece, its easier to tell if ur overheating it...but i mostly use the empty cart to avoid possibly burning myself hehe...2 drops is less likely to flood ur atomizer, less leaks, no juice in the mouth, no more filler hassles,etc...but thats just my opinion, every vaper has their own way :)

I feel your pain - I was using my 510 for almost a month straight until a couple of days ago because I loved the throat hit. But it didn't really provide a good taste even with 901 carts. I tried my 801 and 901s again and the flavors just come out and the vapor production is better (I was biased for the 510 when I tried it but with a fresh batt or USB power the 801 DOES produce more vapor while the 901 produces as much or slightly less than the 510s). I can actually taste the RY4's sweetness instead of it tasting burnt all the time. I still use my 510 for travelling though - I suggest you try out the classics.
