Lets say for example you die earlier from smoking for example from a single a heart attack it would cost less than to say provide health benefits for someone who has genetic predisposition to a disease acquires it and needs therapy for many years. Living to older ages requires more health care...medication, nursing home or home health care.

I still smoke 5 cigarettes a day and have done that for 5 years now. I know how my brain works and if I told myself I could never smoke again, then I would soon be back to a pack a day as I did for 43 years. My other reason for continuing to smoke some cigarettes is to avoid aligning myself with anti smokers as I see many on this forum do. Every time I hear the rhetoric of anti-smokers from people who now vape, I shout hypocrite.

Not every vaper is full of anti-smoking rhetoric. Actually: why should they be? They smoked themselves.... for years, often for decades.

Heck, I was a heavy smoker for 35 years. Never ever intended to quit smoking. Not when I got the smokers cough in the morning, not when I became quite short of breath. - I started vaping to smoke less in the evenings, when active in the internet. Because, among other things, carbon monoxide poisoning sux. Especially if you really overdo it and still wake up in the morning with traces of that carbon monoxide poisoning hangover. Ewwww.... "Gotta smoke a little less now, Anja. Smoking too much is not doing you good"...

Started up my first eGo T on 4 Nov 2011, thought "hey, this rocks!!!" - and switched to vaping immediately, 100% and without any hassle, problems, whatever. And NO, that was NOT a special "achievement" on my part. It was luck, a little applied psychology - and the time was right. Nothing more, nothing less.

I do not care for "missionary zeal". Any more than I care for "political correctness".
We can all decide our own lives - and it is nobody's business what we do in our own lives and to our own bodies. Except our own.

But... and I say BUT.. if somebody messes with that a.m. freedom to live our own lives... they had better watch out

I say, good for you. There is not a one size fits all solution. It is LUNACY to argue that smoking fewer cigarettes makes no difference in your health. That's what the ANTZ are arguing about dual-use. Many doctors have noted that a 2-pack a day smoker has very different lungs than lighter smokers. That's really the big cut point. I'm sure smoking every day in small amounts is worse for most people than not smoking at all, but it's a HELL of lot better than smoking 2 packs a day! I've got an older friend with smoking related health issues. I'm desperate to try and help him just cut back even a little with vaping.

I never told myself I couldn't smoke, and I didn't take up vaping to quit. It just sort of happened over time. For months I smoked about 3-4 a day. Maybe it was because I had been a chain smoker and became a chain vaper that did it. I was vaping so much of the time that it seemed silly to stop doing that and go out for a cigarette. It was that first morning cigarette that was the last to go. It finally went for the same reason. I was so addicted to nicotine that I had to wake up a couple of times a night just to smoke. I started to vape instead at those times, and that eventually rolled over to my morning smoke. I quit with several cartons left over, which sat around for several months. I never denied myself a smoke really, it just became pointless to me. I do dislike the way smokers smell now (stale smoke), but I still enjoy the smell of a burning cigarette. It doesn't tempt me at all, but it's not offensive, and I even let others smoke in my house and car. Imagine, such civilities are all but extinct now days, even among smokers themselves.

It's a Pelosi quote about the process and the massive # of changes, many repealing other stuff, etc. And there's lots of people working on it. And there's as much verbiage in the law from Rs and Ds so....I really don't want to get into that part. That's all a topic for another thread.

It blew me away, and it's all related with the obama care talk. I had no idea about 3/4's of the stuff said, and it's quite a wake up call to dig around for clarifications. I'm sure I'm not alone... I've had my head stuck in the vapor and nic war... Quite a distraction...
What are the alphabet soup gang going to do, just because it's in this thread? Laugh at us for rushing to the store to buy some beans, beer and white cloud ultra while we can? You do realize, 3 days of no truck deliveries and the stores will be bare. I'm not sure I follow your concern, but I will apologize for bringing discomfort to the thread. Not as much discomfort as going without a few essentials is I'm sure, but nonetheless, a discomfort.

1.5x what everyone else gets to pay...they can change it later to add overweight people, or those that have "dangerous" hobbies like motorcycle riding, sky diving, yadda yadda, heck they could put if you commute more than 10 miles to work that could increase your chances of injury so you have to pay more, it has changed before...

I don't think there was any "R" verbiage in it when it was voted on...if I recall correctly they had closed door meetings, even LOCKED OUT the "R's" from the discussion and when it came time to vote on it...at 1AM on Christmas eve 2009 not a single Republican voted in favor of the bill

When I was of school age, we imagined many technical things for the future. Most of those things have been surpassed by far, in the meantime.

Yeah.. I used to say "I would love to be young again. But only with what I know now!"
But now, with things turning out the way they are.... joblessness, time-limited working contracts, housing unaffordable, big government regulating / trying to regulate every facet of people's private lives, prospective employers sniffing out people's private lives .. etc etc... I say with feeling: I am so happy that I am no longer young!

And I mean it.
When I was young, I lived. Did I ever!
But now? In this world? naaawwwwwww.... that is no place for young people.. who have decades still ahead of them. Decades of this development.. naaawwwww...
