Hey guys, recived my octopus today,, and hmmmm not so amazed withit, is giving me a good cloud of vapor for sure but i need the vape on 6.5w if i go up i have a burn taste, also did not liked too much the tight air draw. Im using the stock octopus coil/wick that came installed wich reads 2.2ohm on my vamo and the hole is aligned as well but i will prefere a bit more airy draw not like the protank but more like an evod. The draw here is more like a vivi nova but with a better cloud.

Drill out another airhole in the cap oposite the stock airhole and above the coil.Go with 1.2mm to start and go up until you get the draw you like.

Hey Dax. Be careful when removing the drip tip. You're welcome.:)

I just got mine yesterday, been using it like crazy for 16 hours now with the stock coil. I bought two additional stock coils too to hold me until I get wick and wire. This is the first time I've used anything other than clearomizers. My cover doesn't fit on as tight as I'd like but there's no leakage. I was hoping I wouldn't like it so much. My clearos will still be useful when I'm on the move. I have to put 10 to 15 more drops of juice in it every 10 to 15 minutes. Using it on a Vamo but now that I know it doesn't leak I'll try it on my preferred VV Gripper.... in the morning.

What a difference that made! I drilled a 1/16" hole at the very top of the middle channel, opposite the stock air hole. 1/16" is 1.6mm. It was the smallest drill bit I have but I'd have ended up making it this large anyway at some point.

Edit: I've created a leaking problem with that second hole. Needed to make it higher above the coil I think.

Yea as i posted make it above the coil. You can solve it by building a juice catcher coil. The juice will get stored by the amount of wick you have reducing the juice flow and leaking.

Well I'll be danged. I MEANT for the hole to be above the coil but somewhere between deciding where to drill it and doing the drilling my brain must have changed "3rd groove" to "2nd groove". I didn't even realize I had drilled it below the coil until you responded. Doh! I think when I do it again I will drill right in the center of the flat section above the top groove, unless somebody tells me that's TOO far above the coil.

You can still solve the leaking problem by building a juice catcher coil(it's not hard to make)and you will not have to drill another airhole, unless you feel it is needed.Use 3mm silica to make the build with and you will be able to drip 20+ drops and not worry about leaking as the wick will absorb most of the juice to reduce leaking issues. You can also tighten the top cap by putting one wrap of dental floss under each o-ring and the cap will fit firmly.

I fixed the hole I drilled too low with duct tape. Good as new, lol. Then I drilled a hole higher up and no more leaking. But, I can't help wondering why you recommend the extra hole be on the opposite side of the coil. I'm thinking I'd like it better in the same vertical line as the stock air hole. I ordered an Octopus clone from fasttech so that I can destroy another cover.

I don't even have wick and coil yet. Needed to fix what I could with what I got. I am, though, looking forward to building coils very soon.

If you mean the RDA(which is the same thing) discountvapers.com has them,as most other online vendors. If you are talking about the RDA mini(same thing,in miniature form) same vendors have them.

I saw one youtube vid that had the RDA airhole modded to the oposite side but above the coil and it was a smokestack. He also had a almost 2mm airhole too.As long as the airhole is above the coil and positioned to where the air passes across,or over it,it will blow clouds with no problems.

Sorry, I'm not able to post links or pictures. I believe that must be related to the fact that I got a warning from ECF for a comment that I made. The warning expires on June 6. But you can find a link to the clone on Vapor Joe's blog if you know where that is. The link takes you to the gold colored one, but I searched electronic cigarettes on Fasttech and found a black and silver one.

I'm thinking that a hole above the coil but opposite it is not going to have much air passing over the coil. Most of the air is going to move from the hole to your drip tip. I watched McVapes video (post #92 in this thread) and he put the hole on the coil side of the atomizer. I tried rotating the cap on mine after drilling the hole on the opposite side, but obviously that causes the stock hole not to line up with the hole in the atomizer base, and I find the vapor tastes burnt when that hole is blocked. So, next time I drill a hole in one of these caps I'm going to try it in the same vertical line as the stock hole. Maybe it will be about the same either way, but only one way to find out.

Here is the link to the Octopus clone from Fasttech:
$5.56 SM20 Electronic Cigarette Round Mouth Detachable Dripping Atomizer for Empire KeCig K100 - black at FastTech - Worldwide Free Shipping

If you don't see a link it means they're being removed for some reason when I post.

Thanks, i found them. Are they as good as the original one. For 8.99 on the real one maybe i can wait to place another juice order and get the real.

I finally got around to wrapping coil for my Octopus with flat kanthal. I uses the factory wicks (I broke a relatively new factory coil, dabbing juice off it with a paper towel). It is a 5/4 coil, and it meters on the RDA at 1.2ohms.

Wow...

This flat kanthal makes TONS of vapor. And the flavor is even better than the stock coil. Next coil I make will be 6/5 or 7/6, to get the resistnce up closer to 2.0-2.2. (I'm using it on an eVic, and I'm a relatively low-watt vaper). But for the first try, I'm happy with this flat kanthal. Yep, the hype is not hype--this stuff is amazing...
