I just drilled out my Octopus. I put a 1.2mm hole in the third groove, right over the coil. I meant to have the original lined up when I did it but I messed up  and it's off. It really doesn't matter though, it is producing a ton more vapour and tasting great.

For the wick I've got three layers of 3mm silica under a 3 wrap 30 gauge kanthal coil, with one leg of silica wrapped around to catch excess.

Most likely fluid got into the bottom air hole next to the post and that little cavity is also filled with fluid, you can use a syringe to blow the liquid out. I had that happened so I just plugged that air hole and just used the air hole on the body. I have a 7/64 air hole but I do like an airy draw and it blows massive vapor on cotton wick with only 40/60 liquid @100vg its a beast!

Anyone experiment with SS wick yet?

This worked really well for me, but I've long since removed it to screw around with other setups. I made it real fat in an effort to soak up the juice before going down the deck hole and it worked. It's pretty easy if you cut the mesh on the diagonal to the grains.

Vego : I just ordered the rda and im going to try that setup I bet u can make a dual coil with that uwick

T8: what size do u buy? Do you torch it ? Thanks

I have 3/8" and 1/2" ten foot sections.NO,DO NOT torch it.Once you have the coil built all you need to do is to hit the coils to see if they all burn evenly and that's it,NO torching.

My gurgling goes away, wohoo. I love this little beast, im still with stock octo coil and is awesome like that, i have never built a coil so i may stay with stock ones, there are a couple of site that sell a 1.7ohm builded coil for this so since i have any mech that ohm rating is fine for me

He is so goodlooking in my vamo.

Got the pus in today and very dissapointed so far. First I made a dual coil ss wicks with silica through the wick hybrid and I got harsh hits without much vapor and no, no hot spots. Now I read through the threads and I see the airhole needs to be modified. Is that the reason why this thing is hitting harsh? I may try silica again but all the time I wrap silica I get that wick taste dont know why.

As has been said, make sure the side air holes line up. I prefer to add another air hole as well above the coil (drill a 1.2mm hole in the third groove on the shell). As for silica, that taste usually disappears after a few minutes of use. Apparently, you can torch the silica before use to get rid of it but I have never tried it.

Try today my first build. 2 double string of 3mm silica and 5 wraps of 32 kanthal.. I didnt know what i was doing, i endup with a huge coil at 3.3ohm my vamo almost cant get it red glow at higher volt so i went up to stacking 2 batteries, damit that thing puts a huge cloud of vapor and hit very strong, i do notice takes a bit longer to heat up but man for being my very first build that thing is hitting hard, i will need to drip something lower in nic because i feel this one
