But that is what is why I wonder, if these are supposed to be the solid stainless why there is brass showing thru?

Please dont get me wrong, Im not trying to say anything negative about the Odysseus or GG, I think anyone who knows me or sees my post can obviously see I LOVE ny Odysseus's. I have 3 of them and only these atomizers. Its what I use 99% . I have some carto tanks and boges and hardly use them at all.

I get tempted by other atomizers but if I do ever get anything else, be it a dripper or other silica tank atomizer, I am always disappointed.

I just hate the idea that either I have counterfeit parts, which I dont see how its possible. I buy only from COV or E-smoke and only buy from fellow members that I trust completely.

These center pins are showing the brass on areas where they rub on the center pins or where I have used pliers to tighten (gently and carefully) because of my bad hands.

I just want to make sure if I order the original style V2 pins and pay 20.00 a pop , that Im getting solid stainless steel not the plated over brass like the V1s that cost half as much.

Sorry if I seem to be a pain in the neck, I dont mean to be. I just want to know Im getting what Im paying for. Money is very hard for me to come by these days. I have to either sell things I dont use or sell things I collected throughout my life on Ebay.

Well enough whining. :)

Ana,
If it makes you feel any better, I've had my 1st v1 Ody since it was first released. I've never had any problems with it at all. I still use it every day. The only part that has ever needed to be replaced was the ceramic.
As far as I know the brass/nickel is a better material for conducting current. The SS is the better for standing up to extreme conditions, like the GG and the Ody tank endure. Mine has been through it all. I bought it partly because of its build quality and my lifestyle, its tough.
For function the brass/nickel is better than a SS center pin. I hope this helps you appreciate the brass/nickel pin a little bit more and not be to stressed and disappointed in it. This is just my opinion, I hope it makes you feel better.

thanks, you all are wonderful, I will give it a good cleaning and see if they shine up. Like you all said, brass does conduct better. I guess im just looking at the fact that the V2 pins are twice the price as the V1 because they are supposed to be all SS. If they are brass then they should cost the same as the V1.

Im silly, and believe me Poppa, I absolutely adore my Odysseus's, for me there is nothing better. Ody IS the King of Atomizers in my book:)

Careful of this one, though. My Ody is genuine (bought from CoV in the first sale) and has only two notches on the small top cap, the 4 notches was a later change. I'm sure there's a distinct visible difference on that part, but if I hadn't already seen the real deal I'd be hard-pressed to spot a clone.

One way that might be effective is to post a pic here in the GG forum asking for opinions and the regular GG users will likely be able to tell the difference :)

Well the clones are a Odysseus V-1 copy, not a v-2 , as the diff in the top cap and rebuildable part ceramic , also most clones fit seamless on the sides, as the real ones are a little rounded , so the top section and the middle and bottom sections have a visible seam ,not as smooth as a clone.... hope that helps a little...

Well, I take it all back, I was wrong. Yes a woman is actually telling men that they were right and she was wrong:) I polished up the center post and it is all clean and shiny and obviously stainless steel.

Im sorry,

I guess the combo of heat and juice chemistry made the stainless steel sort of "rust" but its not rust as I dont think stainless steel rusts, only iron does that. Stainless steel , depending on quality will oxidize. I guess it was just dirty and oxidized.

Thank all of you for helping me see the error of my suspicion that is might not be solid stainless steel. But at least this might help any other that get oxidation.

I washed it first, then used Autosol with a small brush and rinsed and buffed with a cloth.

good to hear that ana, and sometimes some plating on some center posts of PVs might leave residue on odysseus center post. It is like in a car accident you see a big scratch then it turns out it is the other guy's paint. Good for me too bad for him lol.

EDIT: not always plating, center posts of most PVs are brass and oxidize and can force this oxidation to stick on the atomizer

oxidation and rust is the same thing my dear ana. I think that your center post was maybe dirty rather than oxidated:)

Dang, guess Im the only one keeping the Odysseus thread alive:)

Ive been wondering for a while now about making the air intake holes near the 510 connection on my Odys a tad larger for more air and more clouds? Has anyone done this or would adding more air intake only affect things if I was using real low resistance set ups?
