I have again been away for a few days in my continuing fight with Mother Nature but it did serve some time to think a lot. I know in the last few months I have gotten to think I know more about some of my GG stuff than I really do.
Take the Odysseus. One setup for many uses. Sounds easy enough. And it really is, BUT, you have to use the different modes as Imeo designed and built them to use. After watching his no leak big mode video 3 times I went straight and setup big mode exactly as Imeo showed us to do.
To no surprise, no leaks. None. Not a drop. I can't speak for anyone but myself but fact is, Imeo thinks on a different level than most folks. He doesn't like to hear that but he has the capability to mentally visualize and create a multi-use design like the Ody where most of us cannot.
If we can, most of what we came up with wouldn't work as we envsioned them. No, this isn't a kiss-up post - It's just reality. When Imeo sent out the expansion kits, many of us got carried away with all the neat tricks or different hybrid modes we could come up with.
In short, we got away from the basics. I know I did. If you doubt me, take one mode, any mode for the Odysseus and sit down and clean it, lube it, assemble it and use it exactly as Imeo showed us to. Dollars to donuts, if you do it as instructed, it will work.
I'm like anyone else in that I would like to be able to think like Imeo does and as much as I kid around, I am in general a very intelligent man. One of the hardest parts of the learning curve of life we never outgrow though is to know our own limits. For most of us, that means as it pertains to the GG and Ody in particular, do it as Imeo designed it to be used and it will work properly.
It's when we go outside that realm that things tend to go downhill. As bad as I hate to say it, I have zero idea why I had gotten leakage on big mode but when I did it as Imeo showed us to properly to use it, there was no leakage.
Anyway, for one old man, lesson learned. Use the Odysseus as Imeo designed it to be used and as he has shown it to be assembled, lubed and so forth. When we do that, it works. Hybrid modes and customisations are really nice but with a true multi-function device as the Ody is, best to return to the basics first and get that wired down first.
I hope no one is offended as I point a finger at the old man in the mirror first. And watch that video again. It's hard to argue with visual proof. Just one old man's 2 cents on the whole situation.

Totally agree with your comments Major. The problem with the Ody expansion set is that it gave people the ability to play around with all the pieces. It inspired their imagination along with all the other GG parts they had. Of course as you correctly said it was designed by Imeo for specific setup's. I've resisted the urge to try different configurations and stuck to what the design called for and I've had no problems/leaks with the exception of once when I miss-aligned the ceramic retainer ring.

Did the expansion sets already ship and sell out in the US? Can't get bruce to answer emails.
Can we buy from some of the other country vendors when COV is sold out? Just rebuilt the first coil I made and ceramic is broken in 2 places. Ceramics are sold out also at cov... Or if anyone knows who bought 2 expansion kits for 1 ody, go ahead and price gouge me in PM?
Pm Bruce on this forum. Replacement ceramics are free to those who had a broken one.
Mine wasn't broken when I put it together the first time. Wouldn't feel right getting a free one. It must have somehow broke over the last month of using it.

I have a question, when the odys are available again, will I be able to purchase just short mode or is it gonna be a full package deal? I really want one now but have held back against will to buy an overpriced one. I feel short mode will be enough for me anyways, I might be wrong. Thanks.
Hopefully all pieces will be seperate to buy. That way you can extras on key used pieces to have as backup.
Regardless of how pieces are packaged for sale, you need to get dripping mode however it is sold.
Even if you can only get full mode I have a feeling you won't have much issue selling off the extra parts.
Yes, Silentt is like that as are many that live here. The Classys are not a good read on the type of person that is a true GG user usually.
If you just do exactly what Imeo suggests in his videos, you shouldn't have any problems at all... I know I don't.Reading all these Ody leaking problems makes me scared to try out the Ody...
But on the other hand, I can't wait to receive mine and try it out
