Well, that sucks! I work where I can tinker with my vaping stuff, I should've just had it delivered here! I'm a telephone tech and used to working with wiring, so hopefully the Ody doesn't get the best of me. I wonder if any of the electricians where I work would have any of the kanthal or nichrome - in what other aplications are they used for? And I have all the copper I can stand :)

The wire that heats up in your toaster is nichrome but its a much thicker gauge.

That nut comes loose when your unscrewing the ceramic housing when you take it apart.... the o-ring causes a tight seal which loosens the nut when you unscrew the housing... and only comes loose when you do this.... your leaking is most likely a wick issue and what I mean by that is the wick needs to fill the top channels like a dam blocking the flow of juice from going down into the center pin... try 2 pieces of wick or my short wick method and your leaking should stop....

Thanks MrKrinkle.
I've tried every wick trick I could find.
I have even replaced all but the housing with new pieces.

Long, short, one, two even three pieces of wick. Long and short combined.

I've tried the wire that goes under the top ring wrapped around the housing, twisted off where the ring meets the base, and down the channel into the base.
I've tried the one wire around the post twice, around the post once.
Both pieces inside the base, but can't get it fire that way.
What I have now is the one wire down the channel into the base, the other wire just barely touching post and tucked under the nut with a long wick/short wick combo.

I still have leaking.
Usually at the half way point, but lately, all the time.

I thought I had found the answer with that nut coming loose, but if it's only coming loose as I'm taking it apart, I'm back to square one.

water and dishwasher soap is right
cleaning the whole assembling of rebuildable part is also right Ty
I just got mine! Fantastic piece of kit! I can already tell I'll be in for a steep learning curve, even assembling it and adjusting the center pin looks a big challenging... don't want to break anything! Very happy with it so far, and I'm sure I'll be even happier once I get a coil working! Thanks COV and Imeo!

Question on cleaning. Should I just use hot water and dishwasher soap? Should I remove the o-rings? How about washing the whole ceramic assembly at once? Should I remove the ceramic and wash just the SS? I'd imagine to just dry it off best I can and then leave it to dry the rest of the way correct? Also, I should put vaseline on all of the threads correct?

That's enough question for now :) Thanks!

thanks a lot Ty. I am sure that you will make Ody work at once!
I'm off to work right now though, so really had no time to play :( Did take it completely apart so I can clean it well tonight. I noticed some oil/grease in the tip of the center pin threading (the part that comes up through the ceramic housing, that the small nut in the housing screws onto) So def. need a bit of cleaning. Unless that was supposed to be in there.... hmm, now I'm second guessing myself haha.

Anyway, yes, those may be simple questions, but we were all new at this once :) I'm happy for you though, hope work goes fast so you can get home and admire this fine piece of machining genius ;) Thanks Imeo, you do beautiful work!

can you please check the ceramic housing Soul? Check if the metal channel is ok or there is a hole on it
Thanks MrKrinkle.

Can you tell me about the three small orings? I've only got two on my Ody. Smallest one between centerpost and ceramic housing, little larger one beneath the nut that holds the positive wire. Should there be a third one on my setup? I occasionally get a gurgly atty and haven't pinpointed the reason yet.

I only have two small orings as well. It appears the third oring that I'm missing is the one that goes inside the ceramic housing according to Navy's video. hmmmmm....

I got the Ody from UK today. It is my first piece from GG. :)

Very nice indeed. The only thing I would need fixed is the small nut inside the ceramic. It's thread is not square with end and when I assemble the rebuildable parts together then the center post (the + contact) is way off centre, almost touching the bottom rim inside the 510 thread. I do not know how much momentum I should use. I do not want to crush the ceramic with the nut.

Quick question do all the new ody have these threads on the bottom connector as in the pic?

if you have 5 o-rings in total then you are ok craft
Odysseus short mode (new rebuildable style)

16x1,5 (2) Odysseus base, between refilling cap and body
3/1,78 under center pin
9x2 between caps
3x2 (under the center post's top nut)
