Actually, VF DOES NOT have reverse polarity protection as AMD has proven. The dna 40 chip DOES have reverse polarity protection.

For as much as VF is asking for their device, they should have foreseen this issue and protected against it.

If it was a $35 mod I would say, suck it up, you were stupid. With a 10x pricier one, not so sure I'd blame the user. You pay so you don't have to use your brain (comfort, ease of use, bulletproof design).

I'm with AMD on this one. RMA it.

Some years ago a friend of mine bought a high end volvo. Shortly after that , he parked the car and when he returned it wouldn't start. He tried everything and nothing. He called the dealer, they sent another car to pick him up and the mech went to check the problem... As it seems, that specific model could only be started if the shift gear was engaged in reverse (or something like that). Although clearly an user error, the dealer apologized several times for not explaining clearly how the system worked (although it was written in the manual who nobody reads anyway).

Above a certain price level, things have to be perfect.

Just a quick update on the hybrid wires. As mentioned before, I was using 28ga Ni200 drill-twisted with 30ga kanthal, very tightly twisted.

And I FINALLY have a TP-capable coil that vapes well on my r91 (I've been whining to some folks about how the massive coils just make for a harsh and poor vape on atties with smaller airflow like the kayfun or r91

9 wraps around 3/32 to give me 0.16 before wicking, and 0.13 after wicking and juicing.

I've decided to go ahead and pulse fire the guy just to show yall how it looks

The coil is SO MUCH more robust mechanically, so wicking and mounting is back to being dead easy.

Vaping extremely well and im happy. Currently set at 22W, and temp limit of 450F

Welp. Tried 30ga Ni 30ga kanthal twisted. Dual coil. Not so good. I'm not sure if it's just bad connection but I'm jus R having a bad vape. Long heat up time. Switches between TP and normal wattage mode.

ETA: oh nvm. It's stablized. I'm actually getting a great vape now. My wattage spikes to 40W initially to heat up the coil and goes back down to my preset 24 watts. Huge vapor production.

That said, my temp reading hovers around 290F even with massive vapor production. Def needa calibrate for the "alternative temperature"

Looks like the bottom coil is touching the deck.

I didn't like my 30-30 build either.

I'm gonna try it as a single coil and see if it's better. My positive post is a little stripped out so connection might be bad.

I know I've had absolutely awesome performance with my 28ga kanthal + 30ga Nickle, so I'm gonna have to compare single to single. Nods.

If it doesn't work that way, where does the energy go? To make the math easy, let's say you had a 1.7V DC source. You put a diode with a 0.7V drop in series with a 1 ohm resistor as a load across this source. Your source is putting out 1A at 1.7V -- that's 1.7 watts. The resistor sees 1.0V and therefore dissipates 1.0 watts. So where did the other 0.7 watts go? If it's not being dissipated in the diode, it has vanished. Energy does not vanish.

You are correct Rossum, I was totally in error. I would explain my rational but after reading your post the rational behind my previous opinion makes no sense at all. That said I am starting to remember why I hate posting technical responses in forums... It is bad enough to embarrass yourself in the company of a few comrades but in front of thousands (that may think you know what you are talking about) really hurts.

Yeah, me too except one and boy it sucks trying to figure out at 2am on a highway how to lower a spare wheel... Took me an hour until I realised how it worked (first and only pick-up I owned). Looked pretty stupid that night

been using 30g ni200 and 30g kanthal twisted for 3 days now lots of vapor at 25 watts temp set at 330. you do have to set temps lower with this type of build to get take advantage of temp protection but i have also set it at 450 but was too hot for me wasnt burnt but getting close, next im going to try 32 of both nickle and kanthal twisted and see how that works out but loving the heavy vapor im getting now

No reason to be embarrassed, I can't t ell you the number of times over the years I've said something with absolute conviction, something that any other day of the week I'd know like the back of my hand yet for whatever reason my brain farted and bam, I look like an idiot. I usually follow it up with "herp de durp" just to I've the cake. Lmao. It happens to all of us!

I think people forget that lithium cells are typically considered to be dangerous household items.

Always double check your batts before you screw down your end caps on your mod. That way even if one battery is backwards, you will not have a dead short because the circuit cannot be completed. The second that brass touches the batt...well we know what happens.

I do feel bad for you AMD. A simple fuse should be impemented in this mod. Or SOMETHING to prevent this.

Also where are people paying $350 for a Vapor Flask? If you buy it authorized....it is exactly $299.

Again, every one makes mistakes and i cant blame Vapor Flask for total user error. Vapor Flask is free on culpability in this case because their insert card EXPLICITLY states how and how not to install batteries.

Thus, while it sucks, Vapor Flask has absolutely no obligation to replace said unit. If i were them, i would , but thats jst good customer service practices. Contact them either way and try to get a new unit.

Cheers

So I bought an empty Hana Clone box from FT and put in an Evolv DNA 40 and charging board. First day I ran it with Kanthal, performed as expected. Second day, yesterday, I made a Ni200 coil and put it in a stock TGT (clone). It's twisted 32 gauge nickle @ 0.16Ω and I have temp at 450 and set to 20 watts (runs up to 385F). 20 watts is what I would be setting it at normally. Anyway it seems to work pretty good. Making coils out of NR, who would have thought?

I am going to ignore this post because it is coming from a person that is above human. Because humans do make mistakes sometimes.

AMD, can you tell if there's room for a fuse in there? No way I'm buying one if it cant be idiot-proofed....have I mentioned that I love Bourbon?
