What if it's got 2x 18650's?
They said "over 30"...you think it's gonna be 31? LOL
:D

Lol... you guys and the 50 watts... it appears to have an 18650... it's not gonna be 50 watts.

Chanara, I'm so confident in my opinion, I'll go on record as saying that if the Radius is over 50 watts I will buy it for you myself!

I'm sorry, but there is no truth in that 40w is some magical line in the sand of what is safe and unsafe.
Really?

Pick the crappiest 18650, tell me the safe maximum cdr of it, and calculate the max wattage draw.

40 is a SAFE Bet...

40w/4.2v = 9.5A
With modern LiMn batteries you can easily do 60+w safely. And by looks at this mod, it could realistically be a dual 18650 mod, or even a LiPo mod, which would safely handle the 120-200w range.

That is so wonderful! I got mine thru the classies here, otherwise I could not have afforded a new one.

Thanks! I recently gifted two Kanger SubTank Mini's via the PIF Treasure Chest. Both people who got them were so excited and TBH, it made me feel so good to help someone get something they likely couldn't have bought themselves.

I heard (second-hand) that they said "not a lipo" - haven't gone to verify yet.
I could see ProVape deciding 15 amps is OK, and specifying 20 amp batteries...

Isn't it wonderful? I've been lucky enough to be able to pass on some starter sets. The night I won a STM I almost dropped my drink, I was so excited!!,

I believe it will be 40 watts.

In part to show Evolve how to do it properly.

I wish I could put 100 likes on this post... seriously

Sure doesn't look like there is enough room for 2 18650s to me.

Yes, 42 is the answer, but what is the question?

What is the meaning of life and everything?

Really?

LOL... I completely agree... but... Since when are YOU the voice of logic and reason? You testing out some new meds, buddy?

No responsible consumer product designer is going to create a device that requires the battery to be at 100% of it's amp limit to hit full power for the output rating. To be safe they would go 50%... so your calculation of 40w/4.2v = 9.5A is pretty close to what a reasonable designer would count on for a consumer device. That being said, your calculation is a MASSIVE over simplification since you don't know the input impedance of the circuit board, so it is impossible to know how much current will be drawn by the circuit/load combo.

40w/4.2v = 9.5A

What most people forget is that in a regulated mod, the lower the battery voltage, the higher the current draw. Your calculations are also incorrect as you're assuming a 100% efficiency, which is impossible. ProVape have stated the P3 has a 95% efficiency rating, which is very high.

With modern LiMn batteries you can easily do 60+w safely.

That's a loaded statement (pun intended). There are plenty of "modern" LiMn cells coming from China that can't handle 20W safely. However, if you're talking about a very good name brand like LG, Sony, Samsung, etc., they're "safe" up to about 60W, but not more. At 60W, with a 3.3V low battery cutoff, 20A is being drawn from the battery - the maximum for most very good name brands. Sure, a couple claim 25A, so you could go beyond 60W, and it depends on the manufacturer's definition of "pulse", but you said "safely" and I disagree with that.

And by looks at this mod, it could realistically be a dual 18650 mod, or even a LiPo mod, which would safely handle the 120-200w range.

Again, 120W would be a safe limit for a dual 18650 or 2S LiPo. That's why the DNA200 allows you to use dual 18650's but limits the maximum wattage to 133W (and IIRC 100W with the SX-based dual 18650 Vapor Flask), not 200. That's also why you have to use either 3x 18650's or a 3S LiPo.

PS - Sorry AstroTurf, but the 40W number is meaningless as well.

I'd be surprised to see much over 30W from ProVape from a single 18650, and doubt they'd go over 40W with a dual 18490, which is what the Radius looks like to me.

I'm just not seeing where that second battery will go, there has to be room for the circuit board and I don't see room for it between the batteries, which means it has to be there in the place of one.

EDIT... Unless somebody knows how a battery AND a USB port can exist in the same space

And the other because anything higher on a Simple Consumer device is unsafe.

I also think we are looking at the future of a 40ish watt Provape device, and partly for some similar reasons.

Looks to me to be deeper than everyone's imagining, leaving room for 2 cells and the board. I think 18490 because there's room on top for the board - one side with the buttons, the other side with the display, and the rest inbetween. The USB could split the 2 cells. This is all just guessing from intentionally obscured product shots anyway. Could be a single 18650, with room for the electronics on either side, and no room on top. At least we know it's not a LiPo pack. We'll just have to wait 'till next week...
