While, as you've sometimes come to see I'm not always good at following this, I had a boss once who suggested I live by this statement:

"If what you're about to say, can only serve to make you feel superior, it's likely the wrong thing to say."

I should dust this saying off the shelve and try to use it more often. Yes I should!
That is a great mantra to live by! Thank you, @rbrylawski!

I think they are absolutely gorgeous! I'm envious! I have horrible hands/nails and when I was younger I tried the acrylic nails. Now, if you have never had long nails - you don't know how to act with them! I didn't have them 3 hours before I ripped one off on my old metal desk drawer. Sigh...
I am a chronic nail- will probably always be which is why I keep my nails long & done. Anything else would send them right back in my mouth. Bit them to the quick until I was 27. Seeing what my hands could look like with nails is what began my obsession. And for what you see in the pic I posted- those are short (for me).

I'm at the stage now that if I didn't have nails I wouldn't know how to do things without them (the opposite of what you describe above). But trust me.....I do remember that feeling of ripping one off. I did that back when I got them done with acrylic for the 1st time.

My nail obsession used to be so bad that instead of coming in biweekly, I was showing up weekly to get them done- like I was picking up a paycheck. The shop owner got to the point where he'd raise his head to see who just entered, see me & say...."you... next week...go! Ok....see ya next week *walks away sad*!.....Like waiting for vape mail.....that week couldn't go by fast enough.

Just being honest. There's definitely some skill and artistry there, I just never understood having every nail different. I've seen the style many times in many different ways and for me it takes something away from the overall look of a woman's style. I guess you could say it's distracting me from the rest of the woman's beauty.

Then again I like classy styles that leave more to the imagination rather than showing off the goods so to speak.
The nails dont make me- I make the nails- hence this is MY style!

Think of all the bad obsessions you could have had and be grateful your nails gave you pleasure.

Nothing wrong with long nails , it's the "dress up" I'm talking about. I have the same opinion of the over the top costume style face make up trend going on now. I've always thought make up ( yes nail polish is make up too) should enhance ones beauty not distract from or cover it up.

If YOU like it then more power to ya.

Oh and yes I would say this if we were talking face to face but my opinion might be different after seeing the whole "outfit". My female friends know not to ask me how they look because I tell them what I think good or bad.

I can. I know many people don't like long nails & that's fine. It made me laugh cause that comment would've never come out their mouth had we been face to face.
People think they can say whatever as long as they're hiding behind their keyboard & monitor.

I don't like a lot of things but that doesn't give me the right to be blatantly mean. It could have been worded differently to sound completely different. Your nails are beautiful - especially in purple - my favorite color.

It's ok YOU think they're hideous.....my girl likes'em just fine!!!! :rickroll:

I think people need to recognize that every culture has different ideas of "beauty". Some cultures believe a stretched neck is beautiful, and they add metal rings to stretch them out. Some cultures believe tiny feet are beautiful, and cram their feet into the smallest shoes possible to stunt their growth. Many cultures think the body is a canvas and fill it with tattoos that tell their life story. Then there's the "mods" where you put metal implants under the skin, including screwing spikes into bone. Hair and nails? Those can be changed if you change your mind, and are the least odd expression of beauty. I'm a "burner" - been in the Burning Man community for many years. We promote "radical inclusion" and "radical self-expression" (along with 8 other principles), and you should see what that leads some people to do.

The difference here is I'm not one of your female friends & didn't ask you what you thought of my nails.

Apparently you aren't even up to date of why that pic was posted to begin with.

And furthermore I don't know or care who spit in your cereal but if your unwarranted comment about my nails is supposed to somehow define me as a person or my character then I feel sorry for you because I'm more than my nails!
