He keeps asking about the "bushings" ...the threaded receptor pieces that the thumb screws engage into inside the device. A picture might be worth a thousand words

That's exactly what she wants to know. Here's a picture...

It looks like the steel bushing has teeth on the outside that grip into indents in the plastic. If that's the only thing holding it in place it's going to fail at one point in time.

Edit: Why is is it so very hard for someone from Provape to explain how this part is secured in the base? it's not like it's some big industrial secret is it?

I'm glad you like the Radius. You cons though, are not cons for me. A single 18650 battery lasts me 2 full days, but then I don't vape above 9.8 watts. Once you understand why the battery meter calculates the remaining charge, maybe you'll come to appreciate why it's a more intelligent system. On the slow charging, it's that way for a very good reason. Charging batteries fast is not good for them, and in fact diminished their lifespan. Slower charging on your Radius is by design.

I usually vape between 9 and 15watts. I don't think this will last a full day. And the battery graph. Why not have a way to see the actual numbers coming from the battery. Somewhere in the menu.

It's simple. Provape is ALL ABOUT safety. They're NEVER going to compromise their safety standards for convenience. NEVER. Charging a battery slower is safer and extends the life of the battery. They're not going to change that for anyone.

Actual battery voltage would seem logical. Its been a ProVari feature on previous models. The review posted on the white Radius show the internals better. Lots o' plastic in there.

Not necessarily. Remember, it's not just any 'plastic' - it's polycarbonate, which is VERY strong. Think gun handles, bulletproof 'glass', etc.

800mA. Typical USB charging as found on competing products (such as the DNA boards) is 500mA. A computer USB port only provides 500mA. To get 800mA, you'd need to use a phone charger that outputs at least 800mA or more.

ProVape likely limits the charge rate to 800mA because there are 18650's that have a 1A charge rate limit. If we couldn't change the battery, they could charge it faster, but they have to play it safe for whatever the consumer might stick in there.

PS - "SAFE" is determined by each individual battery. Some can handle as much as a 4A charge rate. I've never seen a charger that can charge an 18650 over 2A, and those are rare. Most common chargers you'll find don't go over 1A, and that's only 200mA more than the Radius.

My Xtar maxes at 1.00a. I still charge at 0.25a because I can't outvape my charger and I know the slower the charge the better it is on batteries. And I know optimal charge rates and safety factors differ by battery and size. This would definitely play into ProVapes charge design. It would just be nice to hear ProVape's thinking.

When I bought my iPhone 6S + I knew going in it takes a long time to charge, but I don't care cause at the end of the day I still have over 50% remaining when I decide to drop it on the charger & believe me, I'm on it all day long. As long as it's fully charged when I wake up, it's a win!

My Note 5 battery will not last me an entire day but it has fast charging which means I can take the time to make a cup of coffee & be back to 100% by the time I sit back down.

From all I've read here in the forum about the Radius, many of you have said you can go a full day or longer on a single charge. That's key to me.
But as the person who posted that his battery only last a few hours before he's hugging a wall, THAT would bother the hell out of me greatly!!!! Definitely sounds to me like he needs at least 4 Radii in his rotation.

Your last-ability on a Radius will vary, depending on how much you vape and how high your watts are. If you're the kind of vapor pushing the limit (40 watts) and you vape non-stop, your battery life will be hours, not days. If you're anything like me (a Tootle Puffer) who vapes all day long at 9.8 watts, you'll get way more than a full days charge out the battery in the Radius. I can get two days with mine and I vape all day, from 7:00 am until I go to bed around 11:30 pm. But, I charge every night while I'm sleeping because JohnDo, splained quite nicely, btw., that charging more often, for less time is actually better for the battery. Given I do this, I'll NEVER need to worry about running out of charge in a single day.
