WOW, how timely is this post!! I am purchasing some NIC that I want to put into smaller bottles to store, I am not a heavy vaper and just getting into DIY, so starting with a small quantity and want to re-package it in small bottles so I only take out what I will use in a short period. I travel most of the time and the house is "turned off", no air conditioning and in Florida it gets HOT!!! So freezer/fridge is a must. No kids or nosy in laws, so I am OK there. I googled amber glass bottles and found this container site. Was going to post a thread/question on where do you get your glass? Did a search first and found this thread!!! You guys are GREAT!!!! Thank you! I am going to order some bottles and caps tomorrow!

I don't store mine in the freezer. I use wizard's ice nic, and it hasn't changed color or taste... I've had it for 11 months.

also, the 500 mL bottle only has about 120 mL in it.. lots of airspace.

IMO the freezer isn't needed. ymmv

I may be able to hide it in the fridge )

Too bad wizard is out of ice.

I had a couple of lg bottles of nicotine that I had in the basement in a cabinet that I forgot I had. The date on it is 2011. It's pretty cool down there. I never transfer the nic to glass- honestly I forgot I had it. But the nic. is brownish now. I don't know if it would have helped if I transferred it to glass or not.

I'm sort of afraid to even try it. Long term, I'd try to freeze it if I could. Do you have a friend who has a freezer?

Any of the 3 24-400s on the top of this page should work fine for you; Phenolic Lids | Product Catalog I seriously can't see any difference between them besides the grips. Keep in mind however that these are NOT child resistant, and child resistant caps don't typically come with the cone seal. If you feel you need a child resistant cap, this one seals with an extra foil liner and works with those bottles; 24-400 White Child Resistant Cap with 2 Piece Printed Universal HIS Liner : Child-Resistant

I ordered 10 4 oz blue glass bottles with the good caps :)

For regular storage times, I don't think it is a huge issue. I store mine at room temperature for several months but... I do keep it in blue bottles in a dark place.

I am definitely storing a couple of liters for long term storage in the freezer. I am paranoid about the regulations coming out from the FDA. I need a couple of years of vaping under my belt before I even want to consider giving it up. I had a hard time quitting even with the vaping and I still smoke a few cigs although less and less as I get the hang of doing DIY and have juices and equipment that I really love.

Maybe you could get a styrofoam cooler to use when they baby sit, or just take the nic out of the freezer and hide it when they're around. I don't think freezing/thawing repeatedly would cause any issues.

My wife liked this idea.. Is everyone on board about the freezing/unthawing being ok?

I dont think there would be a problem with thawing and refreezing. Especially if you put it in a cooler or something like that. It REALLY doesn't "thaw", it just gets thicker. You want to slow any possible reactions down as much as possible. If you put them in dark glass and in a cool, dark place (closet) or in a portable cooler type should be just fine. If its hot in the house, or warm you could always just throw a bunch of ice in there for the period of time your jars are in Protective custody.

The one caveat, and this is more for use rather than moving to and from the freezer, is that you need to let it come back to room temperature before opening. Opening frozen nic can introduce condensation inside the bottles and you don't want to contaminate your nic base with water. It's believed to be the culprit when nic goes bad. Needless to say, you should be fine moving the bottle(s) back and forth as long as you keep them sealed.

Very interesting.
